We recently purchased one of these for my wife. The car is six year old, has 85,000 miles and looks and drives like new. I've watched this video several times and I'm not sure who this guy was reviewing it for. I don't think this was ever intended to be a hot rod. The 2.5 is very adequate for day to day use. Yes the back seats are small but good enough for a couple of kids. As for having hauling capacity, I think you would surprised how much you can load up with the back seats down. The first week we had it we took a beach vacation. We loaded up two beach chairs, an umbrella, cooler, and a pull wagon to take it to the beach. Additionally, we packed enough clothes for a week. For me that's one bag...for my wife at least three. If you do a little planning you can get a fair amount of cargo in the car. The comment regarding his hesitancy to put the top down because of the so called estrogen level the car emits is laughable; this is a fun car to drive. Finally, the mustang comparison. I have had three mustang GTs and a mustang cobra and never did I get the positive feedback this car gets; people love it. So all I can say is this is a great little car. He was right about the MPG, that could be better but its adequate.

I’ve owned this car since 2015, and it still rides like a dream. Best and cutest car I’ve ever owned! My Pitty enjoys riding in it with the top down wearing her goggles. Grocery shopping is not an issue with this small trunk, and I’ve gotten so many compliments on it due to the stunning color. My 6’ tall sons hated riding in this car on the way to school & back, but it’s perfect for petite women. Love my little car! 💖

Wow....considering the messenger, I think he needs to rethink his place in the world. As a man, I'm offended that he thinks that owning a VW convertible might emasculate me. The Gen2 New Beetle is just fine for a man or a woman, either coupe or convertible. I would agree that the Gen1 New Beetle for a little too cutesy and feminine, but the second generation is just a very nice rendition of a retro-modern design.

I think it looks really shit and shows VW's twisted, almost tortured opinion of itself. Someone did a lot of market research and it was all a fucking waste of time because the respondents were all idiots and they were going to make this heap either way. It's a 'throw-cushion' of a car and my eyes and brain hurt when I see it.
