So I guess by now you all have figured out its the Vapor Canister Purge Valve solenoid and it needs to be replaced. It's a pian in the tail to do but you can do it yourself.

@@sequitawheeler1748 It's a pain in the ass so just take it to a mechanic you trust. It's not that expensive. Shouldn't cost more than 250$- 300$. The part cost about 85$.

I had the exact same problem with a 2015 Lincoln MKC. It throws a P1450 code. I replaced the vapor cannister with outlet valve below the gas tank myself. But the issue continued. So the only other solution is to replace the Evaporative Emissions Purge Solenoid Valve (includes the evap lines) on the top of the engine.

I had mine fixed as well, but damn it was amusing to hear and made me laugh every time . Only thing is now , I have a stalling issue since this was fixed. It doesn’t happen all the time but after sitting for between 10-15 min, start it up , it idles rough and dies . 30 seconds later it works fine . Had the high fuel pressure sensor replaced (that was the code I was getting ) but after a few months the problem returned

Same thing is happening to my civic 2018....and i found out the problem is the small hing which locks the fuel cap....you will always hear it when you lock your car....if under warranty please get the mechanism replaced.....cheers

@@itsthegulay6890 yeah...was the canister purge valve. Tech said they tend to go out around 70,000mi. That was 3 years ago now lol....don't even have that car anymore.

This is happening to me now. And no one can give me a logical answer. I hear that it may be the fuel pump, then I hear that I may need a gas cap. I'm clueless. This happens often with me, and it's a pain when I stop at a gas station and fill up. I have to keep pressing the accelerator and turning the key for the car to start. Did you get this problem resolved?

it's the O2 sensor!!!!! I have to get it replaced. When it happens, just pull over & release the pressure out of the tank (as I did on the video)

nekam47 it has nothing to do with o2 sensor. O2 sensor is in the exhaust system. Has nothing to do with your cars fas tank filler making noise. There not related

Michael Fournier the first possibility that comes to mind is a problem with the evap control system. That is responsible for keeping pressure in the tank wile running and while at rest. If pressure can't equalize in the system while the engine is running and therefore displacing fuel and Vapors the pressure has to equalize someplace. Your car as equipped with the new auto seal system. there are seals inside that are supposed to seal and pressurize the system. there are also Emissions Control lines that connect your gas tank your fuel injection and fuel pressure return. The emissions portion of this system goes to a carbon canister with a pressure check valve. if this system is not working pressure can't equalize in the system. and you will develop over time pressure in the tank. you may be hearing the process of pressure Equalization taking place Vaya you're Auto seal at your fill neck. I would suggest you first check your seal to make sure it's intact and sealing properly. next you may need to check all your emissions lines and check valves related to the carbon canister. This could simply be a quark that this style of car with this style of fuel system has because of what the designers are trying to accomplish.

My ford will do this shortly after starting it, if it does. It will eventually die. When I get gas and fill it up, it’s almost getting stuck with the key but eventually starts. I’ve learned the less gas I put in the less chances it does this. It’s almost like the gas is chocking the car where it can’t breath. I’ve already had a 2014 Jeep catch fire and burnt completely due to the fuel-line so crap like this worries me.

Having the same issue My 2016 Ford Fusion is moo'ing!!! I am also having problems with it starting after I get gas. Can this cause the vehicle to stall like what is happening with the Focus'? Seems to be the same issue that Ford is recalling Focus' for.

Purge Valve. You'll need to replace the Vapor Separator Line and VMV Valve (aka "purge" valve) You can thank our wonderful EPA emmissions requirements for these. They capture vapor from the tank, pass it through a small charcoal filter and the gases get pulled through the intake to be burned. If you top off your gas tank too much, it causes excess fuel to get sucked down that line and it soaks the charcoal filter and eventually starts to choke it off. Then you have rough starters, no starts, lean starts or stalling immediately after you fill up. Word of advice, don't top off the tank. Once the handle on the gas nozzle clicks once to stop the flow, you're done. Don't click it a few more times to put at little extra gas in.

FYI - This isn't a Ford issue, it happens on a lot of cars that have the VMV Valve and Vapor Separator per EPA Regs.

I'm having the same issue!! i have a 13 Fusion and If I let the meter go to 0 the car will cut completely off!! Cut off on the highway with me and my 2 kids in the car! I have to get this fixed!!

Synii Stockton it's so expensive to get fixed. :( I still haven't gotten mine fixed. I know how to handle it when it starts now though. Just pull over, kill your car & release the pressure by hand. Then wait a min or 2 (I wait about 5 min) & you're good to go.

So my car did this exact thing on Monday. We took it to the dealership and they could not recreate the problem. Said I could replace the pump if I wanted but didn't have to and could just live with the sound. I take the car and head home, but stop to get gas and then my car wouldn't crank. I was stuck at the pump, trying to get the car to crank. After seven tries, it finally did and we drove it ALL the way back to the dealer. Had to leave it because they were closing. This is crazy! Doesn't Ford realize this is a problem with the Fusion and do some kind of recall? It scares me to drive the care. If fumes can't escape, isn't that dangerous???

Susie Swint you can't "live with the sound" because it gets worse. If it starts doing this while you're driving & stop at a red light while your car is idle it will turn off 😕😕 ..like your car will kill right then & there. It's been a year & I'm still having this problem.. I'm finally getting some money to fix it hopefully this weekend.

Evap canister purge valve is bad. I believe when it's venting through the gas filler it means it is stuck in the closed position making it vent through the gas filler neck. The other problem would be stuck open which would make the car run rough and possibly die especially after filling the fuel tank

The easy fuel system isnt sealing off causing a vacuum leak which also causes the engine light to come on. What you can do is take the white gas funne that came with the car located in the spare tire area and plunge it in and out of the easy fuel spout. That will release the pressure and hopefully allow it to seal off. You may half to do it several times to get what every dust or debre knocked away so it can seal off.. Best thing to do is blow dust out with a air line , wipe the seals and fuel area down clean, then spray a little wd40 in fuel spout and plunge the funnel in and out a bunch of times to try and get it as clean as possible.. That all that's causing the problem.. it's a over engineered piece of shit idea.. This problem never occurred with a simple gas cap.

The problem is the canister purge valve is bad and making the system pull vacuum from the filler neck. Cheap and easy to replace. Make sure the hoses are In good shape too. If they are cracked or cut it will cause problems as well

..the Gas tank has gas!..😄 (MY CAR'S DIAGNOSIS BELOW) yeah mine's been doing this too. not as much the guy's in this video; (WHAT MINE'S DOING) it's been happening (sometimes) -within a few Mins after I start Driving, ... And have Noticed the engine gets to quivering a little, almost feels like.. it's flirting with the idea of stalling: IF the Gas tank goes (below the first line down) of about 90% full. ... so I've been topping off the tank once it gets to that first line. (below the Full line.) Lest it start even Thinking about stalling. Nope. Cant be having that. but yeah. (yeay,🫡) getting it checked-in to the shop /a mechanic to be fixed tomorrow morning. DIAGNOSIS' ~from what people here are saying (the professionals, & who've experienced) is -it's THE PURGE VALVE. I just connected my nifty FIXD Sensor (ordered on the site for $20. if anyone's interested) and the Code coming up is P1450 which is describing the situation as.. Excessive vacume in the fuel tank. ... Fuel hose ..... Replace fuel Filter Tube, replace Charcoal Cannister. Hit the👍 for a Homegirl if this helped. 👋😎
