These 2 clips were from racing I did back in November of 2021, I managed to get a the footage from my friends Jame's, who records clips of racing at the Byron Raceway. Big thank you and shout out to Jim @victoryredcolorado_videos on IG: jimeezphotos

So the first race was against an earlier model Charger SRT V8, and the 2nd race was against a 2016 Honda Accord V6 Coupe, I'm assuming it was stock. I did have some other races as well with 14.1 1/4 mile times, but unfortunately this is all I got for the external shots, but the other clips from internal views can be seen here: • Byron Dragway 1/4 Mile...
Only mods on my 2014 Honda Accord V6 Touring sedan are the Ktuner, no other bolt ons or anything.
Enjoy either way!

As a 9G V6 sedan owner, the one thing that irks me the most about track runs in this car is that, without mods, it's impossible to achieve a 100 mph trap speed. 4th gear is just too tall, and without the ability to hold 3rd to redline, the car loses a lot of steam in the final stretch. Now the automatic V6 coupe, OTOH, can actually trap at 100 mph even in stock form because its paddle shifters allow you to hold every gear except 1st to the redline. That helps A LOT at higher speeds. For example, the sedan will shift into 4th at 6300 rpm (500 short of redline) at just over 80 mph, while the coupe will let you redline 3rd for an extra 6-7 mph of pull before shifting into 4th (even more if you stretch it to the 7100 rpm rev limiter). That may not seem like much, but in a race between the two, the coupe will walk away from the sedan after 80 mph. Now, the 6-6 Coupe is a different beast altogether and under ideal conditions, will trap well over 100 (102-103, bone stock).

Dude are you crazy? 3rd gear in the sedan tops out at 83 mph at redline. It literally cannot hit 100 mph in 3rd
@th83
@th83 4 ай бұрын
@@masterwhopper414 LOL I didn't say it could hit 100 in 3rd. I said that being able to hold 3rd to redline helps in a 1/4-mile run. My sedan short shifts into 4th at 6200-6300 rpm which translates to about 82-83 mph. Holding 3rd to redline (or the rev limiter) would allow it to reach almost 90 mph in 3rd, which would help acceleration towards the end of the run. That ability to hold 3rd gear a tad longer is why I think coupes are able to trap a little higher than sedans.

I can redline the shit out of my 07 v6 auto. Really long gears first goest to bout 43 2nd 70 and 3rd is about 104. Stays in vtech pretty much whole time. 🤓

That accord coupe had an exhaust and that actually make it sound like it took off in 2nd gear or who knows which gear but definitely not 1st 😅
@LousWRX

Yeah it didn't sound right at all, and the gear it took off on sounded so long, so maybe it was 2nd. Maybe he was using the paddles or upshfted by accident or something.

@th83 2 жыл бұрын
@@LousWRX That, or he tried to manage wheelspin by feathering the throttle but didn't roll into it quickly enough to hold onto 1st gear. LOL, you can actually hear the shift into 2nd right after the car started moving. The transmission programming in these cars is geared so hard towards fuel economy that it's not even funny. If you're lazy on the throttle off the line, you'll be in 2nd gear by 5 mph. And 9 times out of 10, it will refuse to downshift back into 1st even if you floor it. I almost lost a race to a Hyundai Azera a while back for this very reason. Still, I'm impressed that it managed a mid-15 while pretty much launching in 2nd gear. That's quick enough to beat my old 2002 Accord V6, and only lose to my 2007 Accord V6 by a couple tenths while trapping a little higher. Nice runs, BTW! I have pretty much the same setup as you (KTuner, no other mods, running 93 octane) but in a 2017 EX-L V6 sedan. I'm happy to know that my car is capable of running very low 14's at the track, which while nowhere near fast, is great for what it is: a family sedan. And though street racing is taboo, I've yet to lose to anything that's wanted to race. I even somehow managed to beat a new TRD Camry by a few car-lengths from 0-90, and those are supposed to be quicker than the AV6. But then again, anything can happen on the streets, too many variables. I've thought about mods like Borla exhaust, RV6 J-Pipe, and Pre-Cat Deletes, but I think I'm just going to leave it stock (except KTuner, which I mainly got to turn off VCM anyway) and drive it for another 5+ years. The Borla exhaust is probably the most tempting mod just for that little bit of extra sound, but I don't know. Any future plans with yours?

@@th83 Hi, I don't plan to go beyond stage 1, just wanted to add a little extra power, adjust a few settings (disable VCM and adjust shift programing), and remove the speed limiter and I'm just going to keep it this way for now. And yeah it's not the fastest car, in the world, but pretty decent for what it is, and of course very reliable. I've also won a lot of stop light races, including a ECO boost Mustang, and the BMW 328i with the 4 cylinder turbo (I believe its like 2013 model). And thanks for the kind words, and detailed response. I wonder if the transmission programing on the newer model Accords only do that very early short shift into 2nd, I don't really recall my doing that in my pulls at very low speeds. With my 2014 Accord, it stays in 2nd if I do a pull at like 15 mph, but anything under it usually always downshift into 1st.

I own a 2017 Accord Touring V6 and it is the absolute best car I have ever owned for the price. Find me another 3.5L V6 motor that has 300 hp and can get 35 mpg all day long...and is reliable as hell. You can't!

I think I figured out why the Accord Coupe bogged down at launch. The Honda Coupe driver just put it in Sport mode with manual shifting (i.e., S 1) and just launched it. This feature is only available on the coupe. However, the car will ALWAYS automatically upshift to second from first about a second or two after launch no matter what--even if driver floors it. The sedan does not have this manual control mode. I have the V6 coupe, and I never launch in sport mode with manual shifting unless I do the 2 to 1 "trick." Computer will always upshift from first as if casually pulling away from a light. That's exactly what it looked like to me, anyway.

Yeah it's just a test and tune event where you just casually race any car you wish to see the times and hopefully beat the car next to you. And yeah the Accord isn't much of a racing vehicle, I did own a 2015 Subaru WRX prior, which was descenttly faster, but more of a rally vehicle than race car. It's all just for fun really, but it's kinda cool.

I have over 79 Videos of the 2014 Honda Accord V6 Touring sedan on my channel. I can assure you that if it was a sport, it would be running mid 15 second 1/4 mile and not low 14's. If you want to see a video showing my car and its V6 engine under the hood, check this video here; kzfaq.info/get/bejne/kNiWkrOGvbmsaGg.htmlsi=dnHweqmaMs0-Kgsm And trust me it is loud under throttle, especially from in the car. The guy I have filming here normally records louder race cars, so his mic doesn't pick up cars so well that aren't screaming loud with a full race setup.

nice, decent exhaust and a proper intake with the ktune should net 13's. not bad. can the sedan be fitted with the coup paddle shifters? I know in the infiniti world, models that don't have paddle shifters are able to be retrofitted for little cost.

Unfortunately the Sedan version of the 9th Generation Accord has no manual shift option, not even on the shifter it's self, the choices are only Drive or Sport mode, which just holds the gears more and provide some engine braking. And only the Coupe models come with a 6 speed manual or paddle shifterd for the 6 speed auto.
