I think a lot of people have a bad taste in their mouths when it comes to CVTs mainly thanks to Nissan and their junk JATCO CVTs. From everything I've heard, Honda seems to have the best CVTs on the market. I've been offered a 2014 Honda Accord for below KBB value and I think I'm gonna go for it.

Best generation in Honda’s modern age for sure. Had all the characteristics of peak Hondas, imo. Honda get rid of the sideview camera because they started offering blind spot assistance, though Kia offers both in some models and the camera has both sides while Honda only gave you the right side, and I say this as a longtime Honda owner.

My daughter and I both drive 2013 Accord EX sedans with the 2.4L. I've had mine since 2017 and she got hers two years ago after we sold an old 2002 EX Accord sedan. So far, these cars have been great. Mine is nearing 80k mi and hers just hit 115k. I will admit I do miss the traditional automatic transmission and the double wishbone suspension that our 6th gen had, but the 9th gen still packs a pretty solid and comfortable ride. ❤️

Call me crazy, but the look of the 90's Civics/Corollas/Camrys was just so cool. I even think some of the mid-late 80's designs for both are just timeless now. I don't mind newer car styling, but it all kind of blends together.

I have a 2014 Accord EX-L 4 cylinder in the same color (Modern Steel Metallic). SO MANY people bought the same car... I have accidentally tried to open other people's cars in parking lots a few times! Mine has nearly 140K miles, and the only problem I've had is a valve cover gasket leak. I was leery of the CVT when I first bought it, but now I actually like it. For a modern economy-minded car like this one, it's a great match. Honda's CVT's respond quickly, and they've been reliable. You just have to get used to your engine sounding like an outboard motor at times. Didn't know they used different CVT's through the 9th gen's run!

Might need to get the pcv valve replaced. I’m Robert the owner of the accord in the video. The valve cover was leaking on our accord but I never had it fixed. I read that the pcv valve could be the cause. It was a simple fix, a easy to access part on the top of the engine. I’ve wiped the oil seeping from the valve cover and have since to see a drip.

@@abysstoid1503 same exact thing happened to me. Replaced PCV valve and haven’t seen a drip. But going in at 120k miles to replace plugs and ignition coils should I spend the money to replace valve cover gaskets anyways or should it be fine anyways?
@abysstoid1503
@abysstoid1503 Жыл бұрын
@@ciegosanchez5289 ignition coils shouldn’t be replaced unless your seeing trouble codes for a misfire. Just replace the spark plugs. If you want to replace the valve cover gaskets, make it worth while and also do a valve adjustment. Honda engines periodically need to have valve adjustments made cause they use an older style design.

Hey, good overall review my man. I am a Honda Accord enthusiast and have owned several over the years, my first being at 1981 Accord sedan. It was a decent car but had transmission and head gasket issues. Honda has come a long way since then. My daily driver is a 2017 Accord V6 Touring, I really wanted the last V6 Honda offered and I love the power, ride quality and features. Not really sure why you seem to be disappointed with the 9th gen CVT. I just bought my son a 2013 Accord LX, 4 cyl, CVT and it seems to have great acceleration for it's size, no issues at all when passing on the highway, and of course great gas mileage. Of course it's not a high performance vehicle, but it's not designed to be. I would highly recommend a 4-cylinder Accord with CVT to anyone! As a side note, I think most folks would agree that car reviews are much better when the vehicle is clean inside and out. The vehicle does not need to be show car detailed, but it is nice to see a vehicle without the owners personal items left inside, dirty motor etc. Thanks again.😀✌🏼

You got to try the manual version. I have the 6 speed Accord coupe 9th gen and the gearbox is the best one I've tried. Even compared to stuff like the ND Miata, Toyota 86, and Camaros/Corvettes I've tried. The coupe body style is also gorgeous. This one looks great too, and has aged very well, but the 9th gen coupe is one of the prettiest Hondas, imo.

@@Abdullahxvii It's the i4. I spent months trying to find the v6 6 Speed Coupe, but those are very rare. Supposedly both the i4 and v6 are underrated from the factory HP wise, with the i4 having around 200 and the v6 300. It's more than enough for daily driving, if you want high performance you want the v6. People haven't experimented too much with the i4 K24w. Feels faster than an FRS though, lol.

I had a 2014 4cyl cvt and loved it. Of course the engine rpm stays relatively constant while accelerating. That's the entire point of a cvt. After being used to a cvt one wonders why the engine has to Rev up over and over again. Other than for higher performance applications, I believe a cvt is far superior to a geared transmission since they are obviously more efficient. Nice to see the cloth interior. I much prefer cloth to leather. Cloth just seems warmer and more inviting

I drive a 4cyl CVT Accord LX and I've had it for almost 5 years. Great car. I also love the CVT. No noticeable shifts when accelerating and it's butter-smooth when you set the cruise on the highway (plus I can regularly get 37mpg at 72mph). I can understand why enthusiasts don't love it tho, since the driver doesn't feel the raw power from the engine like they would if it was hard-geared. That said, I only ever notice that effect when accelerating off the line or in ECON mode.

@@Snowboundlessreally 37 to 72 mpg? Are you sure you don’t have the hybrid? True, this 9th generation Accord shares a platform with the 8th generation. However, while that 8th generation I consider to be the absolute worst-looking Accord ever, to my eyes the 9th generation is hands-down the most handsome. I like it so much, I bought one in 2013 when they became available-a Sport model with the CVT. I love it so much! It’s been so reliable (except for needing fuel injectors at around 100K miles due to carbon buildup) and it fits my needs so well that in the decade I’ve owned it, never once have I been tempted to replace it. I’ve driven the current generation when given as a loaner at the dealership, and while its reflexes are a bit tighter and the interior a bit better laid out and constructed of nicer materials, it’s nowhere near as good-looking a car, in my opinion. I think I’ll keep my 2013 Accord until it can no longer be economically maintained. Knowing Honda, that’ll be decades from now. 😊

Perhaps maybe a reintroduction of the Honda prelude as a sportier option when compared to the accord and civic. Sadly Honda isn’t that interesting anymore.

Good to know the seats are comfy, 7th gen cloth is awful

The seats in the 8th gen are bad as well. My coworker at the time had a base model 9th gen, and the seats were so much more comfortable than mine (8th gen) he sat in my car and went dude. What the hell wrong with your seats 😆. I had a base model as well

160MPH speedometer is optimistic. I hate when cars have overly optimistic speedometers because half of it is wasted on a daily basis. I'd rather have it go up to 100 or even 85 to offer more resolution for daily speeds. Plus, no Accord is going to hit 160.

Stock accords hit about 130mph with a limiter... I guess with a couple small mods and limiter removal it would easily reach 160

The reason the speedometer goes to 160 is so 80 is at the top. It’s for better readability of speeds you will actually drive at. Cause anything after you would be reading the right side of the gauge. Why not stop at 120? So that it remains symmetrical

I've seen my 4cyl accord hit 110 without breaking a sweat. An ungoverned V6 Sport could totally make a 160mph gauge worthwhile.

Far from the best gen Accord. The best were the Accord Type R 99 - 02, Accord Euro R/CL7/CL9, and most recently the Accord Sport 2.0T. C'mon man.

Im the owner of the accord shown in the video, I’m hoping for this car to be the test of that. I’m really hoping zack will consider doing a follow up video once the car passes the 200k mark. Rn the car has almost passed 130k on its journey to 200k. Those past 130k miles have not been nice miles, check the fuel economy shown in the video, this car is routinely driven hard.

As the owner of the accord shown in the video I have to ask “in what ways?” The engine itself has been pretty bullet proof, it’s everything else around the engine that has had problems. As mentioned in the video only the electronic throttle body has been replaced

This the best? Absolutely not. The 1990-1993 CB7 Accord is the best Accord. Probably won't ever be beaten.
