He had his 15 minutes of fame during the OJ trial, but after that, he went back to being "just another judge," presiding over the same criminal courtroom until he retired in 2015.

He's a good judge. However, I think he made some mistakes in the OJ case , nonetheless still a good judge. Ito looks like he's doing well.

@@daviddavis3389 I mean he's an excellent judge in a sense of his ability to make a good wise decision, but not because of the OJ guilt or innocence. We all know OJ is guilty but the poor job by the LA County district attorney team weren't able to seal his guilt in court. Poor handling of evidence by Det. Mark Fuhrman and poor DNA gathering by their DNA experts what set OJ free.

Not Ito made the aquittal, the Jury did.
@Romulan2469
@Romulan2469 7 жыл бұрын
Ito may not have handed the verdict, but he was partly responsible for it by allowing cameras into the court room, by constantly admonishing the prosecution and weakening their case in the eyes of the jury and allowing the defense to get away with so many objections. Also Ito was the one who allowed the trial to shift from the trial of OJ Simpson to the trial of racism of Mark Fuhrman by allowing the defense to introduce the Fuhrman tapes. Ito was incompetent period.
@nawangdawa7994
@nawangdawa7994 6 жыл бұрын
Romulan2469 He did not allow the Fuhrman tapes. He allowed only 2 sentences, the bare minimum, that was required for the case. Ito was fair enough.

One of the fairest judges in the history of L.A. criminal contentious trials! Great man, he probably go done in history as a judge that did not allow as racial politics to sway or affect his decisions.

He was distracted by the cameras, he was a weak and pathetic excuse for a judge. I’m still so angry at him for allowing his courtroom to become an infomercial for how not to preside over a double murder case. Can’t use the word “match” when it comes to fibre analysis? Is he CRAZY? That was a ruling of his. Ridiculous. Cochran run that courtroom, not Ito.
