Carl Rogers produced a secular form of protestant Christianity, transformed into a psychotherapeutic school of thought. He believed that honest, empathic communication could produce dramatic improvements in human competence and quality of life. He was a great practitioner of that under-rated primary life skill, listening.

I consider this lesson as one of the best of Dr. Peterson's classes. It is so significant to understand how to listen, communicate and understand and its done in 1 hour. So amazing that I will always keep it in my must re-watch folder and will re-watch it in years to come.

I am a senior lecturer teaching the styling design of characters dress through costume, make-up, styling & photography at AFDA. I am looking into psychoanalysis of a human being through the styling design of their dress. I am essentially looking at a certain variety of 'dragons' as evident in their styling. I think you would love it. Thank you again. Your passion is addictive.

Rogers is a unigue genius. He stands for the quality of human relations as the quailty of living and showed the therapeutic value to any willing to experiment with his phenomenology.

I started watching the 2017 version of this lecture and found it so interesting (also watched the Rogers and Gloria session videos), then I move to this lecture looking for more. You´ve helped me understand many things that happen during phychoteraphy sessions that I wasn´t able to articulate, it´s so cool... Muchas gracias Doctor Peterson.

At around 52 minute mark he talks about listening to clients fear about” Russia and bombs” among other fears of a client. Jordan says casually “ you can tell how old this is” referring to outdated material from Rogers. Now here in 2024 this doesn’t sound so outdated.

Question "what causes poverty" is really the wrong question. Poverty was the default state of the human conditions for hundreds of thousands of years. The proper question is "what causes wealth" since it is completely different from the natural state and is only with us for about century.

Yeah. People who dismiss the results of the industrial revolution as being bad for poor people because it greatly increased wealth disparity aren’t taking this into account. After the 1800s, EVERYONE became wealthier, just some more than others.

In French, 'understand' = 'comprendre'. Which also means include, contain, encompass. Same etymology than comprehend (latin comprehendere, from com- ‘together’ + prehendere ‘grasp’).

What I loved most about jbp's lecture is that he doesn't play with those certain topis everytime and get stucked there and use stuffing words he goes from one topic to another within the same theme mann this man was teaching about personality and I thoughts he would only teach about 5 big traits of personality and describe them but nah he just thought me whole life mannn this guy❤

Well they've explained the Chakra and Kabala the different stages of ascension and desensitization not sure who they were but they changed each stage they seemed to float and it was the airhead thing they couldn't fit a hat on anymore 😂

51:00 that client is woman because they reduce stress by talking about their proplem. that why they can have many friends to tell all their proplems. Men reduces stress by forgetting the proplem and disconnecting drawing back doing something totally different. ..so to get rest and then can approach thing in fresh way and in new strength. Thats why women try to get their spouse to talk and he dont want. men talk if they have answer and goal but not just for talking. so man only have to listen without getting offended and their spouse is pleased or calming down if there was bad mood.

I think it might be from the camera trying to focus with constant floating movement and zooming from whoever is hold the camera. Might be an auto-focus issue with it trying to change between Dr. Peterson and the background when the camera sways. There is a lot of value to be gained from simply using a triped fixed to the front of the room :)
