Wow, this is so relateable. I work in animation as an artist, often hollywood studios and Netflix and all that, and I have a very similiar background to Adrian. Single mom, single child, ripped away from family and home at an early age and taken to a foreign place (in my case a different continent). Shy kid, meek, success in my field came relatively easily despite it being such an unusual career path and I was always cynical about the industry I work in and the significance of money in that context.

There are more people who have the fantasy of leaving the city and going out and being fancy “on the land.” Unless you have huge amounts of capital (which he probably does more than the average 4-H kid) the fanciness goes right down the toilet. It ain’t “grounding” it can be a downright grind. I’ve always liked Grenier and this made me like him more, but the remnants of the California parlance are a bit of an eyeball-roller (obviously, I’m that ex-4H kid who’s building a farm with not a lot of capital but a lot of hard-won skills over a lifetime). Glad he’s found fatherhood to be wonderful. Glad he came out the other side of de-toxing from pop culture. The toxic shell of the theater/acting/hollywood culture was what repelled me from my own career in performing arts and pretty much cut if off at the knees immediately so I moved south, lived cheap, raised boys and goats (sometimes one and the same). So That’s really awesome that he saw the toxicity and got through it.

18:50 I dont like the reponse from Dr. Phil here. The idea that you cant point out a problem without having a solution is garbage and I find it to be a tactic used by the mentally weak.

He, like Vinnie Chase, seems lacking in depth despite his pat narrative of trauma and redemption. His mainstream promulgation of misogyny and bullshit Agenda 2030 UN activism requires an atonement beyond gardening and walking a dog on the coopted land of Austin Texas.

Faith is an action. When God calls you to do something and you don’t follow it, how will your faith grow? So your actions will prove who you are and who you stand with. An apple tree proves its identity through its fruit. We should do the same. Will the actual, action, save us? No, but it proves we are willing to follow him which shows we know him and he knows us. That will save us.

I thought Jordan was past the evolution "theory", but used it in explaining death as it adheres to Russels answer to the question of the language model in nature, and how it brings death into the equation. This will always be a stumbling block as it is to all things pertaining to God the creator of Heaven and Earth.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

I really like Adrian and this is a great interview but honestly a very difficult one for me. I tried to be an actor in London from 2012-2019. I never had the option to "blow off auditions" because frankly every one I got was like pixie dust. In those years I would get called in so rarely and spent all my time working awful jobs for crap pay just to get by. I would work on my craft and pour money into workshops etc. and keep trying to get better but the industry just said that it was over for white men... no interest in us. Happy to take our money to teach us how to do jobs they would never let us have though. I hope the whole industry implodes and rots. I'll never get the those 7 years in the prime of my youth back and there are people in worse positions than me. They deserve everything that's coming to them and worse.
