I love your channel… I do heavy construction, been driving Cummins for years. I pull 20k on a regular basis and I usually upgrade at 300 to 400k miles. Even when I upgrade trucks, my old ones are still running great. I am definitely biased, only because of experience in real world work. The ram Cummins is the most dependable, longest lasting HD pick up on the road.

My 2015 RAM 2500 6.7 Cummins, is about to turn over 600,000 miles. Original engine, original trans, original driveline. Has had a valve spring replaced, all 6 injectors and high pressure pump. SCR Cat replaced under recall, water pump replaced under recall. Brakes pads went just over 500,000 miles, still original calipers all around, new front bearing hubs, new front rotors, original rear rotors. My truck hardly gets idled at all.

I had a 15 that started to bother every once in a while with a good load. Engine light,derate,and so on. They reflashed something to do with the transmission and it never bothered again.

I've got an 07 and it looks and works great . No dash cracks or anything . You take care of it with regular maintenance , changing your oil and fluids . It will take care of you and last a very long time . Diesels go a million miles before you should rebuild the engine , as a gas engine will go 1/2 million miles or 500,000 miles IF you do your regular maintenance or preventive maintenance . I change my engine oil more often than you do , but I'm not running full synthetic oil . But it's how well you take care of your vehicle is what really matters . I've been getting that kind of life out of my vehicles sense the 1980's . But I do take care of my vehicles . That's what really matters .

I plan to get one of these trucks as a do-all vehicle. 4 doors for nights with the family, front bench seat for date night with the ol lady and the asphalt annihilating power to pull 30,000 pounds so I can make money with it. First thing I'm doing is killing that EGR and the exhaust bullshit. Next thing I'm doing, (be mindful this is all as far as money permits.) Is dual smoke stacks outta the bed. After that, I'll be saving up for an ATS transmission swap so I never have to worry about them pesky transmission issues dodges are infamous for. Long live diesel and mopar or no car!

You mention that you change the power steering fluid every 20k. Do you flush the system, or just pump out the reservoir and refill. Also do you just use prestone from Walmart. Or some higher cost fluid? Thank man always enjoy the videos.

Depends on your situation. But I would either swap the pump or trade your 19 for a 21

Question for you, why do you always get long beds? Does it help with the gooseneck? Are they better for towing max loads?
@BadoreksDailys2 жыл бұрын
They usually tow a little better. Longer wheel base, bigger track on the ground, little more stable. Also have more room to put other things, more room between the connection and the cab. Just my experience, but the short beds are still more than fine.

I have a contact here in Canada that makes 1 piece aluminum rear drive shafts for those trucks to hold up to 2000hp ….. $1300 CAD ….. so USD much cheaper lol 1550 series or 1480 …. They suggest 1480 because they never break and the joints are easy to come by

If you idle truck up is it okay to leave it running at truck stop I don’t run truck all night usually but there are days it runs 4 or 5 hours at truck stop Especially in the winter

If you do not want your drivers to idle the trucks, then what are they supposed to do in the summer and winter? Roast and freeze?
@pddieselpower3 жыл бұрын
Genarator to run a small heater and ac unit. But on extreme days run the truck.
@MrCherrygrovedude3 жыл бұрын
Idling diesels are bad. Cummins plainly says do not idle more than 5-10 mins as the cylinder cannot keep proper temp and fuel dilution increases.
@CSXtrackworker3 жыл бұрын
@@MrCherrygrovedude all diesel manufacturers say that. It means nothing when you are on your mandatory DOT mandated ten hour rest period and it's either the middle of summer or in the middle of winter and you have to keep the truck idling.

Figure this truck has averaged 1.75$ a mile over the course of its life on all miles. At 570k thats a gross profit of almost 1 million dollars. Im sure the net is at or above 3/4 of that before driver pay. This trucks paid for its self many times 🙂.
