Goddammit he played the entire solo just like the record. How fucking talented is Tom Scholz, I wonder how much of this can be taught, and how much is just God given ability?

This is only down 1/2 step from the original recording. They are not using a capo on the first fret, so the chord voicings are basically the same. Great job guys! This song is a lot tougher than it sounds.

And to think that nearly all of it was invented by the actual performer. That's insanely unheard of in the music business on that level.

Bless his soul but Tom seems out of practice or having some difficulty. The whole vibe too...seems like a tour on a budget with the type of sonic landscape Boston songs can provide. Where's the 12 string even?
@mcdude01923 жыл бұрын
Hitch a ride isn't twelve string. In fact that guild acoustic he is playing is the same one he recorded the song with
@thebestian3 жыл бұрын
@@mcdude0192 There is a twelve string in the song as well in the recording we hear on the radio. He probably used both. Rick beato does a good analysis on it that's really worth a watch if you're a boston fan like me.
@bcoldwell12 жыл бұрын
@@mcdude0192 there's a live KZfaq version with Brad Delp on 12 string, though Tom S plays that intro on his Les Paul.. I think you do the best you can with what you have at the time. A really great cover is by Lexington Lab Band. Check that one out, it's fantastic.
@whisky2roxy2 жыл бұрын
@@bcoldwell1 I've seen that one. The guitarists are phenomenal
@cb242037 ай бұрын
Your ears are definitely broken 😂. Tom is having no trouble at all and he's 70-something years old. This sounds pretty dam great for a Iive version. And the only 12 string guitar on the studio version is buried in the mix. It can really only be heard when listening closely. The main acoustic intro is always played on a 6 string. The 12 string is on Gary Pihl's side of the stage. He plays it on "More than a Feeling". The reason it's not used on Hitch a Ride is because it's not as important to the song as the harmony guitar parts that Gary Pihl plays. "Tour on a budget" LOL 😂😂

Barry plays that solo better
@Journxy273 жыл бұрын
No, he definitely doesn't. I've watched both of them play it recently and Tom plays it way more accurately than Barry, I'm learning the song myself so I know what it looks like when properly played. Plus Tom is the one who wrote it.
