As per usual, the sound quality coming out of the 2015-2016 F150s with base audio isn't anything to write home about, but it's fairly hard to justify the extra cost of the Sony HD Premium Audio System. That's where our friends over at Kicker Audio come in with their Vehicle Specific Solutions (VSS) PowerStage Kit. This total audio system overhaul for the 2015-2016 F150s SuperCrew and SuperCab trucks with base audio systems comes with an 8" Kicker Subwoofer powered by a 200-watt Kicker amplifier that are both encased in a bolt-in enclosure that installs in the holes usually reserved for the Sony System's subwoofer. The PowerStage Kit also includes an additional 200-watt Kicker amplifier for increasing the power, range, and sound quality of your truck's factory door speakers so you can completely change the way your truck plays your music in an amazing, new way. The amp and subwoofer enclosure is easy to install and the additional door speaker amp comes with all its necessary wiring to make the job as easy as possible.

I bought the one that fit my 2011 F150. It was great, plus the woofer was a 10 inch rather than this small (I think) 6 inch woofer. The sound was amazing and it didn't cost me but a little under $400. I would much rather have that Kicker system. Too bad I know longer have the truck....Now I have a 2015 and looking to upgrade. I think I will go with a JL Audio Stealth Box.

I was gonna get this for my 16' Sierra SLE. But then decided to get all new JBL Speakers and 2-10" Kicker subs. The installer who has done both said mine sounds way better. My total was about $1400..

It's a little hard for me to justify spending $1300 plus going through all that crazy stuff just for the bass... I think this ranks as one of the most complicated F150 video from stage3.

The factory door spearkers are woefully inadequate this isnt too hard when you look at other options and still want to keep your under seat storage.

Have you tried to see what it sounds like with the dsp amp only running without the sub? I ask because getting for my silverado and it mounts under the seat. if i need to remove it for some reason wondering how the dsp sounds standalone

Jimmy Kimber the average joe keeps their vehicle stock. This is pretty straightforward. Might be lengthy but it's not like any of its difficult. If you still think it is some high school kid will do it for you at Best Buy.

Dave Workman I got it and installed it including infinity references in all doors and memphis audio direct replacement dash speakers. All sounds awesome couldnt be happier. Took me about 5 hours including dash and doors. I paid 880 brand new on ebay

jeremiah white yes it’s way better than the stock. It gives the much needed low end. Sounds better than trucks that came with the B&O system which that option alone is way more than this kit as well you have would have to have a pretty loaded truck just to be able to select the B&O option to begin with. I love it in my 2018 F150 XLT sport !

This system will fit 2015-2017 F150s with a SuperCrew cab (Crew Cab) or SuperCab (Extended Cab). Also this kit will only fit 2015-2017 F150s with base audio systems and will not work on 2015-2017 F150s with Sony Premium Audio Systems or on base XL F150s that do not have touchscreens

You can do better for a sub well under the cost of this 8" Kicker. Previous gen F150 got a 10" Kicker that went under the p.s. rear seat, that sub enclosure pounded.

+Mike Wojnarowski You can't really capture a subwoofer sound difference on the camera, then play it back through computer speakers. I listened to this trucks sound system before and after the install, and it is quite a noticeable difference. The sub provides plenty of extra bass and the added amplifier for the door speakers adds a lot to the quality of the sound

Not trying to be snarky but there is a difference between "base and bass" Base is the bottom of something like a table,cabinet or dresser. Bass is the low frequencies that your subwoofer reproduces.

"base" also means "not upgraded" or "without any additional options", which is the way they used that word in the description when they said "base audio".

I can't believe that they fail to mention here that you need to go to your Ford dealer and have them enable the subwoofer option in the Ford computer!!!!!! .........That is another $100 plus........Chance is (like my dealer) he isn't even going to know what your talking about. I installed my Kicker subwoofer about a year ago. Its still mounted behind the seat, unactivated

Factory stereos are generally pretty weak. I recently purchased a 2020 F150 XLT, and intend to upgrade the entire sound system eventually. I didn't bother with the kicker subwoofer option, because I plan on running an aftermarket one with an amp.
