I managed to get a cheap Icom 4100 mobile radio, just the job!

Hi Matt , What kind of antenna are you using there on the lip mount ? I've done the same with an FT400xde . extension cable etc cheers for sharing . Rab MM7BVP

Hi Rab! Thanks for the comment 🙂 it's a Watson W 7900 antenna . Works very well and used it for years on and off 👍 73 bud
