It's my second day having this radio. I just got a TF card and updated to V4.5. Just to note; if you're before V4.2 you can't use a TF card the first time and will have to do your first update via computer. I'm unsure if a Mac can be used. Your later updates can use a TF card. I love, love, LOVE this radio! Also, the sound is stupendous for a radio this size. I like the sound better than my Sangean WFR-32. If I had bought this first I wouldn't need the Sangean.

Hi Matt, can it decode DRM ? i am looking for a MW/SW receiver that decodes DRM without having to take an SDR dongle everywhere, some countries prohibit SDR dongles but a domestic (looking) radio set would get away with it.

Nice video, well done. Lots of features to play with there, that’s for sure. But the irony is, as a shortwave listener myself, it’s the fact that most major radio stations have gone internet only, that is killing the hobby of shortwave listening. Times move on I suppose, and when you can facetime somebody on the other side of the world with a phone, its no wonder ham radio is getting quieter too. Keep the videos coming, good relaxed presentation makes a change from some of those excitable, energy drink fuelled reviews that frankly do my head in. 👍

Simple answer is to stop paying Ian. To build somthing a child could build their is plenty of videos on KZfaq. Even a Google search give plenty of information. Paying Ian for part that cost no more than 25 pounds and the rest is just greed in profit.

OK.... So a radio signal comes into your radio, then goes through the WIRES X box into the internet, goes around the world somewhere..... how does it get to a radio on the other end? Or does it turn into a written message somehow? And what is a "room"? A geographical area? Or a group of people? I don't understand.

I see this video is 4 years old. As a time reference, I am writing this on April 24th 2024. I have a couple of questions if I may. VHF is pretty new to me. First, is this model easy to program. I understand that is a relative question, but can I just push buttons to program it or do I need software and a computer? I am not very good with computers and figuring out new software. I have read some reviews stating that the display washes out and its hard to see in the sunlight (mobile use) have you found that to be true? And lastly, you mentioned something about a beacon. How is a beacon used? Why would I want to use it?? What is it for? Thanks in advance. 73. Dave

For millenials: it's just discord for ham radios, and the internet connection happens on either your repeater or gateway (if you don't have a repeater nearby you can build one). Not really that complicated. Your callsign is your username.

My experience of 11 metres is that it works reasonably well without any licence. A few idiots mess around always foreign and mostly Spanish and 1 or 2 Russians. Mostly people follow an etiquette and are polite and friendly.

I have same radio for several months now. same as Anytone 5555 N II . I use it 10/11/12 meters. I am in NY/USA . I made contact on that radio to England from NY on 10/11/12 meters. easy to program and use. I changed some settings like time out timer and SWR protect. it was set 20:1 ,I set 3:1 . I keep in frequency mode. the weather works in the US . even runs portable on end fed half wave and DX commander antenna. with LiFePO4 battery . with a Digi Rig and anytone cable set that QT 60 will do digital modes. A bit trickly to set up. . no rig control. manual set but does have PTT . I ran SSTV / FT8 /JS8 CALL/ FL Digi /RTTY . just keep power down due to duty cycle . receive is super. I have SWR 1.7 or better and stays cool. only FT8 after a wile at 50 watts heated up so I reduced to like 6W PEP and ran a AMP. stayed cool running hours . JS8 call was fun. UK contact telling me about a bad wind storm over their. band starting to close on 10 from NY to UK . for me it's early AM to about 11 am then changes south and west of me. was Derbyshire I reached. also London and Manchester. I Hurd Callum in Midlands on 10 meters but was portable and just radio. was a big pile up did not get threw. love the 1 KW from the UK. my DX commander expedition antenna just wants to work DX . even talk back to the UK . I have a Icom 7300 as well. great video on that radio . just start using the QT 60 and you pick it up . for digital change mic type and NB stuff all off and play with levels on PC and radio. mic gain and volume. once you get it it works . just manual dial frequency . so much better than my RCI 2950DX .73's

Hey. Ordered one 5 days ago. Am on a budget so didnt get the Ameican models however this one has the added advantage of 10 & 12m. Would have liked backlit buttons and ability to show channel number and frequency simultaneousley as well as display dual monitor frequency simultaneousley but its good enough. Bussy getting the other components together - antenna, cable, connecters, power supply etc.
