Truth be told, it took 3 weeks for the device to arrive from Germany and I didn’t realize that I’m not buying unlocking any cars, rather it unlocked the cars as a yearly subscription. So the numbers I provide in the video are yearly costs minus the cost of the device.

How you access the auxiliary battery and change it

Our car doesn’t have the auxiliary battery. I believe that’s only on the Hybrid models, models that end in e (e.g. 330e). Our car ends in i (e.g. 320i). I’m glad you asked. I didn’t realize such a thing existed, so now I know.

@@x-coastie maybe my car is different idk I have an eco mode on mine and the dealer told me the auxiliary is under the hood on the passenger side 🤦🏽‍♀️my husband said the same thing he’s a mechanic but literally there’s nothing online to fix it or show how to fix it by the way I have a 2018 330i

Do I still need to register the battery if I buy the same battery from BMW with the exact same spec from its OEM?

Yes. The way the battery registration works is; when you register a new battery you’re telling the car to not charge the battery as often. Why, because the new battery doesn’t need charging as often, because it’s new. The premise is the same for your smartphone. As your battery wears out on it requires more and more charging. Same for the BMW. So even though you installed the exact same battery, the car thinks it’s an old battery still in it and it will charge it more often than necessary. Hope this helps!

My battery just died. Can I go ahead and install a new one and then register it later? Will it cause any harm driving it for a few weeks before I register it?

You can register it whenever. The benefit to registering the new on is that your telling the car that, A, I have a new battery installed and B, you (the car your talking to) don’t need send so much current to the new battery because it doesn’t need it. That’s why these batteries last 5+ years. This process is exactly the same as smart charging on your smartphone. It’s bad to keep charging your cell phone when it doesn’t need it, and it’s the same for the BMW battery.

What’s happens if you don’t register the battery will that make the car not start?

Not at all. The purpose behind registering is to tell the car that it doesn’t have to send spend much effort in charging the battery since it’s new. Whereas if the battery were old and holding a charge takes more effort, then the car sends more power to the battery. Basically there’s a clock or timer involved and the registering tells the car to reset the charging effort and slowly increase it over time.

This makes your battery last for more than probably 5 or so years. Ours lasted 7 years. That’s a pretty long life span for a battery. Again just like your phone or tablet, the battery lasts longer and has a longer life cycle if your not constantly charging it. Same goes for the BMW.
