Never in my life have I watched a more informative video with such care for detail and common sense all in one package. If you are not some type of teacher for the automotive industry? You Sir are missing your calling. Thank You for your time and expertise explaining and demonstration. Hats off.

Thanks for the comment! I am not an instructor but have over 40 years experience in automotive, heavy truck and transport refrigeration repair and maintenance. When I get a chance to make a video I try really hard to do do it in everyday language for the “Do it yourself “ mechanic. Really glad it helped! Thanks again!

Very good video - comment from an experienced "non-professional" in Arizona !!!

Great video, very informative & reminded me that my 2015 Tahoe has rear A/C. I've searched every line & every component up front with no luck so watching this gives me hope that it's leaking in the rear A/C section. Thank you again!

Rear evaporators can cause issues. They are sometimes a little tricky to diagnose but it’s definitely not impossible to do. Thanks for commenting!

Great informational video. I'm not a mechanic, nor do I have the tools you used in the video, so I guess I'll need to take it to shop to get this done.

you can purchase refrigerant with dye and a kit that contains a black light used to find the leaking UV dye.

Just had my 2015 Tahoe lt rear evaporator changed at a dealer and the rear is still blowing hot air and they can’t figure it out. (Probably out of hours and done dealing with it for free). The lines going in are not cold underneath and no water dripping from the rear drain at all. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks for the video! Is it basically the same process for the front expansion valve? ...where it can be replaced without taking the dash apart and you can get to it from the outside?

correct

Gotta quick question i already know now imma have 2 replace my whole ac system...i have an 04 srx 3.6 cadillac had it for 7 years I noticed my clutch was barely engaging so I assumed it was burned out which it was so I figured just replace the compressor boy what a mistake it lasted all of a month cool air front and rear now my brand new compressor is the clutch is barely spinning doing the exact same thing but not as bad then I noticed the compressor started smoking just asking do u think I have a bad expansion valve or some kinda block in the system
@lizardjump99511 ай бұрын
When you replaced the compressor did you flush the system? This sounds like the new compressor just had a catastrophic failure. If a compressor disintegrates internally the debris will contaminate the system. The system will need to be flushed before putting in new components. Expansion valve will have to be replaced too. Another thing is to add the exact recommendation of oil and amount. When adding oil to the compressor you need to rotate the compressor several times to ensure the oil is coating all internal surfaces of the compressor prior to installation. Then, evacuate the system and recharge with the exact recommendation or refrigerant type and amount. These systems hold such a small amount of refrigerant that the slightest amount either way could be detrimental. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

@@lizardjump995 thanks I didn't install it.....sadly it was the dealership

Hopefully the dealership did all these tasks which in any case should be under warranty through them.

Greetings to you, my dear brother But I have a question Did you use the high-pressure line to fill Freon? Why? Others object to filling using high pressure... and they say filling Freon should be using low pressure Thank you
@lizardjump9959 ай бұрын
Sorry this has taken so long but the answer is yes. You can absolutely recharge on the high pressure side as long as the the engine is switched off and the A/C is not operating. If the engine is operating and A/C is switched on the you must recharge on the low side only. If you recharge on the high side with A/C switched on and operating it could over pressurize the container and explode. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

you missed one step. the filter screen in the high side line at that valve

How do you get the panel off
@lizardjump995 Жыл бұрын
Hello…..which panel are you talking about specifically?
@juanos97124 жыл бұрын
Did you have to add oil?
@lizardjump9954 жыл бұрын
I did not add any oil. Only lost a couple drops when removing the valve and didn’t to overfill the system.
@kevin_nagle2 жыл бұрын
Typically don't have to add oil unless you are replacing the compressor
