Andrei, thanks for the comment. You would be correct only if one was not careful fueling and overflowed the tank. A rider who takes the time never to overfill while fueling will never need the evaporation canister. The canister only serves as a container to catch excess fuel and direct it back to the motor instead of on the ground.

+White Trash Brewery Unfortunately sir, it is not catching the overflow of the fuel tank. Canister is holding the fuel vapors, not the excess fuel. Here you go: The EVAP system totally eliminates fuel vapors as a source of air pollution by sealing off the fuel system from the atmosphere. Vent lines from the fuel tank and carburetor bowl route vapors to the EVAP storage canister, where they are trapped and stored until the engine is started. When the engine is warm and the vehicle is going down the road, the PCM then opens a purge valve allowing the vapors to be siphoned from the storage canister into the intake manifold. The fuel vapors are hen burned in the engine. Evaporative emission controls were first required on cars sold in California in 1970. EVAP has been used on all cars and light trucks since the early 1970s.

Correct.. That's why you don't disconnect or plug the tube! I simply removed the collection canister just as many other owners have done.

I painted the tan colored seat on my Vespa, and although it looks good, it doesn't last forever and needs occasional touch up. You could always go with a seat concepts kit.

Why did you not remove the front rubber turn signal extension blocks? Couple a minutes, couple short bolts and locknuts and get even better looks!

Hi ! I would put a dark brown leather seat instead and get rid off that yellow line on the fuel tank. Maybe change the yellow stripes elements with a Ducati red color. (?) About the plate, I would definitely put it on the left side of the bike. Maybe you could "cut" that plastic part at the half and "stick" the plate there... I think this is what I would do for the moment. I really love that bike ! It would be nice if you upload some videos of the custom processes. Cheers

Why take the Evap canister off? I like the yellow on the seat, seeing you asked. Better with two mirrors.

Now that you have yellow on the wheels and the other yellow on the tank and front fender, leave the yellow on the seat it balances everything out. If you black out the seat, then you need to remove all yellow references on the bike. Looks great. This is my next bike probably toward the end of the year.

Thanks for the opinion. I really like the blacked out look too. Such a tough choice to pull off. We would also like to know if anyone would be interested in watching the video if we decided to record the process.

The yellow on the seat goes well with the yellow on the tank and the lettering on the wheels. I like it. I was trying to decide between a Icon and Full throttle. i am concerned about the lower handle bars on the full throttle. I don't wanna be hunched over or start having more of a crotch rocket seating position. I was also wondering if the exhaust on the full throttle gives and performance upgrade or just sounds better.

If you can find a Full Throttle I would see what it feels like before you decide. I am just under 6' and it is a very natural feel for me.

I don't think it has any better performance other than being a little less restrictive and the remapping software smooths out the complaints that you read about with the throttle being sort of touchy. The sound is much better of course also.

Shoots! Thanks for posting! concur with the mods, save for the rim decals. The yellow on the seat is a really tough call. That slip on though! Damn it sounds good! Anyone scrap the heat shield for pipe wrap?

I'm all about blacked out looks but I think the yellow on this particular bike looks pretty rad... anyway, if you decide to go for the blacked out seat, I wouldn't want to mess up with the stock seat, I'd rather get a new one

careful with the black-out treatment, if the spray dries slightly off color it may look cheap. - I suggest buying another seat rather than fucking up the original.....but then again,its your bike - cheers

What's the impact of removing the evac canister? Is there a risk of any fuel overflow dripping straight onto the engine? Did you ahve to make any other mods to remove the canister or was it just a case of cutting the pipes?
@WhiteTrashBrewery23
@WhiteTrashBrewery23 9 жыл бұрын
Mark Witherington No other mods needed, its a simple 2 minute job really. There is also no impact other than just improving the look of the bike. The overflow fuel tube hangs down just in front of the engine so that any additional fuel would flow onto the ground and not into the removed evaporation canister. In other words, just be carful an don't overfill your tank!! Thanks for the questions Mark.

I think the standard exhaust on this model is fine. It looks better than the one you've fitted. What I'm really interested in is the Scrambler's reliability. Has it been totally reliable? And how many miles have you done?
@WhiteTrashBrewery23
@WhiteTrashBrewery23 8 жыл бұрын
+Nime My Scrambler has been totally reliable. I have had no issues at all with mine. My first service light came on at 621 miles and was taken care of promptly last fall. I am sitting at about 750 miles now and can't wait to get out to do a few spring rides. The bike is a total blast to ride, I only wish my scheduled allowed more time to do so.
@user-sw2lv3zp6o
@user-sw2lv3zp6o 8 жыл бұрын
If it's only done 750 miles, you can't possibly know whether its reliable, but thanks for answering. I was keen on one of these, but I've turned my attention now to the Yamaha FZ-09.

I agree it looks very nice. I hope it turns out to be really reliable for you. I have a Buell Ulysses which apart from a broken drive belt and a worn out rear wheel bearing (both perennial problems), has been totally reliable in 20,000 miles. I will always keep it.

Why would you remove any of the reflectors on the bike (which are safety devices deemed appropriate by the factory) just in order to have a 'cleaner' look? If Granny ever runs into you while driving her 1960's era rolling tank on the way home from Bingo one night, & then tells the responding officer "I never saw him"....don't be surprised when your insurance company denies your claim, including your medical bills. That's if you're lucky enough to live post crash. Same thing if the bike ever catches fire. "What's this? You removed the evo box?" Claim denied.

I just rode tested a Full Throttle today. OMG what an awesome bike. Regarding your seat, I'd leave it alone. It looks pretty darn good the way it is. I hope to buy a red Icon in a few weeks. My BMW is a turd compared to this rocket. Happy trails mate.

Not at all.. The canister is only used to catch and redirect any fuel that has leaked from the tank if you over fill it.
