2015 Ford F150 XLT FX4 (4WD) Climbing Sand Dune by the beach. My friend is using his locking rear differential and (aftermarket) Limited Slip Torsen Front Differential, with traction control off, in 4WD high, holding in 1st gear. I was in the 2010 Toyota Tundra 4WD--with traction control completely off, 4WD HIGH, and using the sport shifter to hold in 1st gear to get max power and not bog down while climbing through the thick sand

yoster77 I believe the only vehicles with a factory front locker are a Jeep Rubicon and a Toyota Land Cruiser

You are correct, he has an aftermarket Limited Slip Torsen Differential 8.8" Front Axle F-150 2004-2017. This is what comes as an option with the 2017+ Ford Raptors. My mistake, I misunderstood. I don't know very much about Ford Trucks, I know more about Tundras

He also didn't let any air out of his tires which is what you are suppose to do when driving on sand

if your tire pressure were less then 20 psi it will be 1000x easier for you

I don’t understand why more people don’t understand this. I off-road a Onewheel through some nasty sand. It is impossible to make it through on a street inflated tire (20 psi). Aired down to about 10psi works. 7/8psi is pure magic and goes anywhere. I would assume the same concept applies to trucks off road, but obviously not the same pressures.

I run 15PSI on te sand dunes up here in Michigan. Works like a charm. A lot of people dont understand it though.

how much better are less aggressive treads and wider tires on soft sand? I gotta think weight of the rig matters a lot. does traction control hurt or help when its powdery? I've heard it might hurt.

Ali Djavid--Lowering the tire pressure would be the best way to do it, but we wanted to test how far we could take both trucks without airing down.

Mike Trujeque most add the 35's on a 4 to 6 inch lift. I have a 2015 f150 lariat fx4 with a 6 inch lift and soon I'll be cutting the fenders to make space for some 40's yeah I know it's crazy but also waiting for the upgrade dynatrac portal axles to make it a tough overland vehicle.

Mike Trujeque-- The Ford F150 in the video has 34inch x 12.5inch Nitto Trail Grappler tires, on 18inch x 9inch rims. He has a 1.25inch leveling kit.

From the view of the sand, he needs to put his air pressure to 10 - 15 psi. No more than 15 psi.

AIR DOWN... 12-15 PSI and you'll do fine....

On the Ford F150, he has Nitto Trail Grapplers. On the Toyota Tundra, they are Terra Grapplers 275/55 R20

Street tires work so much and lower the tire pressure slightly. This is video is exactly why I would never buy a used 4x4 truck. This kid doesn’t know how to drive it and will just end up screwing up the truck

You aren't climbing anything with your tire psi that high let alot out you're getting no grip and your just simply gonna get stuck and dig yourself on deeper buy spinner your wheel

Franklin Ayres--That's true airing down the tires to 15psi or so would have been best, but sometimes you might not want to take the extra time to air down and then refill the tires when leaving, especially if its a quick day trip. In this instance we just wanted to see the off roading capabilities of the trucks without airing down. Ill have to do another video in the future with the tires aired down and see how much better it truly is with the wider footprint
