Today we have a 2015 Ford F250 Super Duty with a 6.7L powerstroke that has a harsh shift from 1-2 and a harsh downshift. I try to explain the theory and a way to repair this without having to replace the transmission. Forscan is not a sponsor just feel that its a great program!

forscan.org/home.html here is the link for the download then you will find a link for the datalink connector that you can buy on Amazon. Pretty inexpensive and works great for Ford products. Good luck!

So when you go to the link, choose which adapter you want to buy (I personally would choose the one for an IOS application since I don’t have a computer), is that all you need to be able to access forscan and the cpu to be able to download the new valve body info?

@@koreyfairley3988 you will need to download the Forscan program and buy the adapter and then yes you will be able to reprogram the valve body.

What valve body manufacture do you recommend? Any to run away from? I’ve been seeing street smart transmission, tier one transmission, both about middle of the pack price wise. I’d rather not pay 800-1000 for revmax/ATS/ect aftermarket if I don’t need too. I don’t beat on it and only pull a horse trailer sometimes.

I wish I could give you a good answer on that but I can’t. I have only used the Ford reman and haven’t had issues

I think I need this done on my super duty. 1-2 gear is a very firm shift. Doesn’t happen all the time. Only happens if I’m accelerating slowly. If I’m giving it a bit more pedal it shifts fine. So not sure. Just changed the Trans fluid and added Hot Shot secret shift restore. Not sure if it will fix the issue or not

Did it work ? Mine does same thing changed filter and fluids I've gotnmy valve body abart bc it melted the harness I have 3 parts trucks tho

@@BallinOnaBudgetC6 yes it did. You do wanna be careful because if the fluid is in bad shape the transmission might be weak and a new valve body might not be the best money spent. If the fluid is in good shape you should be good

Mine is doing the same thing as Mobkinq states above. Sounds like I should probably start by inspecting the fluid and maybe a fluid change?

@@KenfieldZ3 I did the trans fluid with the hot shot secret shift restore. It helped a bit. I took it to a diesel mechanic and they don’t seem to think it’s riding bad. Maybe I’m assuming it’s going to shift like a 4 cylinder car. I’m going to do the fluid change again with the filter. I still have warranty on my truck. If I still don’t think it shifts well I’ll have my diesel mechanic change the valve body

@@hrdiesel Great for heavy tow vehicles to remove the hydrostatic thermal regulator which allows trans fluid to always flow through the cooler rather than circulating internally until the fluid temp reaches 190F before being sent to cooler. Not a good idea for trucks that operate in cold conditions though.

mine has a hard 5-4 and everything else is perfect could that be the valve body aswell?

Without looking at it I would guess a valve body issue

Do you replace all the little O rings, and the longer tube looking squishy ones?

Yes, I usually do. My supplier had all those in stock.

what else can cause the transmission to over heat after you redo your transmission and put a new radiator on your 2016-f250

The transmission is cooled via a separate cooler on the frame rail. Also these transmissions are supposed to run around 200 degrees

I try to do it with Forscan but it says I need an extended licensed to run this function

If you go on to Forscan website you will be able to buy an extended license for $13 I think it is and they will email you a code and then you will enter that into the program and that should take care of the problem. Good luck!
