I'm a honda tech in Saskatchewan and this week it was consistently 30°C. Add humidity and a non A/C cooled shop. Miserable lol

@sivucit 0 seconds ago Hi i have 2005 honda pilot. i used to have aftermarket cv axle had no issues because boot is broken , i went with OEM on both side. i am having vibration issue at steering at 20 mph NOT while accelerating only at cruising at 20 mph .. momemt i accellerate vibration goes away... i dont know if this cv axle . i do see a play on passenger side cv axle. in and out.. not up and down. question. 1. does in and out play is normal, i assume up and down is not normal. 2. can i assume if virbation doesnt come on acceleration then it is not a cv axle issue 3. based on my symptoms do u think if this is cv axle or something else.. 4. Not sure if intermeidate shaft will cause this issue. much appreciated. thanks in advance. rest all like sway bar busing, control arm, struts they are pretty much new.. i am feeling this symptom after replacing OEM cv axle , weared part of it. just want to run it with you that i am not missing anything like drive shaft etc.

How much in and out play are we talking about. If you're having excessive in and out movement on the outer CV joint while already installed in the car and ur axle nut is tight may be an issue. The inner joint should be able to move in and out but that's just for articulation of the suspension. Typically if you're having a shake under acceleration it is usually CV axles new aftermarket CV axles are bad for that it's like they don't put enough grease and the joint is very stiff or old ones that have been leaking and lost all the grease and the joint is dry will do the same thing under acceleration. Have you checked your tires for separation? Any weird bumps on the tread can cause the steering to go back and forth/shake even at low speed. How old are your tires? See if you rotate the tires will the shake go away.

@@theoffroadingmechanic may be 1/8 of an inch. Vibration comes at cruise Not at acceleration. Tires are new from Michelin

Do you still have the old CV axles? Possibly swap one at a time back to the old one since there were no issues other than the broken boot To see if the axle is indeed a bad new part. And it being an OEM Honda part they should have a part warranty. If you mentioned you didn't have the vibration prior to replacing the new axles

@@theoffroadingmechanic Thanks so much, planning to do the same, by any chance do you know if intermediate shaft will create this issue. i ordered OME old one with intermidate shaft to repalce as a set.

Never had an intermediate shaft cause this. I'm not sure if not fully seating the CV shaft to the intermediate shaft will cause it but usually you will find out once you go full lock on turns it will pop out. I've had them with noisy bearings or leak grease.
