In this video, we replace the front brakes (pads and rotors) on a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2WD with the 3.6L V6 (solid rear rotors).

There are a lot of armchair critics out there... the procedure I showed in this video worked just fine and there were zero issues with the brakes until this vehicle was sold on 5/2024.

Do the new rotors have to have anything on them that allows the ABS to work properly? Will ABS work with any rotor specified for this application? Thanks.

There is nothing on the brake rotor that supports ABS

Don’t forget to brake clean new rotors they come oiled to prevent rust

All the mounting bolts 6-point or 12 points to get the mounting bracket off?

Always turn your steering wheel in so you can work for better access

Yeah I normally do when access is an issue but was actually pretty good here. Looking back at it now, it may have given you guys a better camera angle. So sorry about that 🙂

My guess is the O ring keeps the rotor from moving around during factory assembly. Also to keep rotor from moving around when trying to reinstall the caliper. But I’m not a mechanic or expert and that’s just a guess.

Yeah that was my guess as well. Probably something for the convenience of assembly more than anything else. Just an odd use case for an o-ring, but it is a clever one because they're dirt cheap!

I don't know Joe. You say you've been doing brakes for 20 years but I watched a few videos and you look like you're confused all the time and you do some of it backwards all wrong
