Update: Ignore my video comments :), you need a 11mm hex to remove the caliper hold down bolts. Its not a common size. Nappa auto parts has it, or try online. (t55 fits somewhat as well and can work)...
Hi Everyone. Quick video to show you how to completely replace the front rotors and brake pads on your Jeep Grand Cherokee (Shown on 2014 model).
Main goal of this video is to show you how simple it is, and that almost anyone can do it and save serious $$.
I tried to make the video as detailed as possible for first timers. Its a similar process for most cars and SUV's but check out vidoes I posted for other cars I have done.
Note that the SRT models will be different due to the advanced breaking system.
I’ll be posting the Rear rotor/break install as well, so check that out.
Hope this videos is helpful and saves you a lot of $$$.

Thanks for the video!!! I just did my pads in the front. And thanks to your video, I didn't have one issue at all. Took me about 30 minutes per side. Although the allen caliper bolt for the front I had to buy a specialty socket. It's an 11MM and almost no one sells an 11mm Allen. I bought a T12 Spline bit and worked great.

Thanks for the confidence inspiring video. A tip for those with - if you have an older WK2 (mine is a 2015 with 100K) with original brake pads, your rattle could be caused by rusted mounting studs on the break pads. They make the little pressure mounting tabs out of cheap metal and they literally rust away with time and then allow the pads to make an annoying rattle over bumps (can occur on rear as well). I live in Cleveland, OH where they dump a lot of salt on our roads, so if you go longer than say 5 years, and live in a similar environment you may have the same issue. Simple fix with new pads (although both my rotors and pads had another 10-15K in them). I have NEVER had a set of pads last longer than 35-40K - Jeep did a great job engineering the pads and rotors to match the WK2 (mine is V6)! When I went to replace them, I paid up for MOPAR parts hoping to get same results again - don't mess with success!

You don’t need a block of wood to compress the piston. Even if you decide to compress the piston after removing you use the old onboard pad and a C clamp. Same purpose/results and one less item you have to keep track of. A piece of meta tubing with enough inside diameter to slide over the socket and cut to length with about length to provide the leverage required but short enough to get a full or even 3/4 turn inside the fender well.. inform mine at HD and just Dremel tooled to cut the required length. Dishwashing detergent on Rotors??? Really....if you pains $95’fornrotors then a $3.99 can of brake cleaner should not break the bank No retaining screw...I like that but if there is any new hardware in the kits then use them...new shims, clips, Seals etc.... Another common trick is to use a small coating of Anti-Seize around the rotor hub where the rotor hat slides onto the axle. Good video but a couple of additional tricks that a lot of people might not think about.
