Hands down most comprehensive & detailed review of the car. Other bigger & popular reviewers rather provided watered down review that didn't get as specific. Mentioning issues like trunk, Bluetooth, and and characteristics of CVT modes are wonderful. Thank you.

Dante Lee Except he gave out bad info.so I'm not so sure about that. There is a cabin trunk release. The center armrest is height adjustable. And the center gauge display offers a digital speedo so the small(ish) numbering on the primary gauges is pretty much a moot point. The bluetooth issue is legitimate - my Note 4 has to be re-paired every single time I get in the car. :(

Good price, turbo, boxer engine, 5 star safety, 7 airbags, Subaru reliability, great factory warranty, great driver and passenger comfort, 268 Hp ! AWD ! 55 rear 45 front and changein depending on traction loss do to road conditions, great fuel economy, uniqueness, great looks inside and out, exc. There's really no reason why to buy another car.. that is why me and my girl went from Honda and Toyota to Subaru her self Honda and me Toyota. Subaru grew up and that is reflective on there sales

The trunk release button is located left side of steering wheel where contract control and instrument panel light dial is. So there is no need to turn off the car and use the key fob to do so.

There is a release in the cabin for the trunk. It's electronic so it's actually a button now. It's to the left of the steering wheel.

What I love about the WRX is you get performance and handling that you'd have to pay more for in most German sports sedans, plus that great Subaru build quality. Most of all, even in a crowded parking lot they stand out, I like cars with a slightly quirky character. I don't know why but Subarus somehow remind me of Saabs, another wonderful and quirky marque that is sadly now no more. Kudos to you Subaru, please don't ever become too mainstream.

No need to try and read the speedometer. The center LCD panel, between the gauges, displays your speed in large digital numbers. AND you can get an upgraded arm rest.....it's a great car!

Thank you for the review. I suggest reading the manual, at least a skim through before filming your reviews. 1) Trunk release button left of the wheel. It's right there in your video! 2) Bluetooth pairing is really is not that hard. While it may not be the most intuitive, it is very simple: Subaru How-To Guide for Bluetooth® with the Standard Audio System 3) The Gauge can be configured to display M/KPH which addresses that gripe. The exhaust is loud enough you can hear what RPM the car is at. 4) The CVT is not built in house. it is made by LUX. 5) The shifting speed is faster than many DSGs and CVTs. Quicker shifting than an IS-F.

Excellent review. I'd never seen this channel before, but I'll definitely use it from now on. The new WRX looks like a really great car. I especially like inclusion of all-wheel drive, the front styling and the steering wheel design.

Lots of hate in the comments, wrx drivers act like jealous lovers when someone doesn't shit themselves over how amazing the wrx is. I think it says a lot about how incredible the wrx is.

Trunk release can be seen in this video at 4:02. It's just right of the interior dim control wheel, beneath the left driver side dash air vent. The symbol on it is a white car with the trunk open and says HOLD on it. It's just left of where the steering wheel column comes out of the dash. Also the center console does can extend upwards to more easily meet your elbow.

Awesome review Motormouth!!! I'm torn between a WRX STI or a Dodge Challenger R/T. I've never owned a sports car and I'm in love with both of these cars. I've been leaning towards the Subaru just because of the all wheel drive. Your review really got me thinking again....

There's a trunk release button to the bottom left of the steering wheel and it says "HOLD". I know this because I have one. It's the base model with barely any options too so this one being a CVT, which has to be at least a premium, should have it. Canada is a strange place.

The trunk release button is on the left side of the steering wheel, immediately right of the dashboard illumination scroll wheel. I can see it in the video at time code 4:02.

The switch for opening the trunk was located on the left edge of driver's floor in last gen imprezas, and it should be in the same location in this gen.

Very nice review. I just test drove one here in Vermont. One can quibble with the looks and continued below par interior looks, but once you take your first corner, all is forgiven! I'm coming from a modified 2008 STI - this thing out handles it in a big way! While this doesn't have the ultimate power of a modded STI, the lack of turbo lag and the strong torque from 2 to 5K makes the power that it does have incredibly usable. This is a GREAT car to drive, seats are first class, the addition of turbo gauge and back up cam welcome. BTW - I see that $1500 in mods (catted J-pipe, turning) will bring you over 300 hp. Buying one - wish we had a hatch on offer. GO Subie!

Yep, can clearly see the Trunk release button on the left dash panel AND the is a release on the trunk lid, right between the licence plate lights there is a little rubber pad...push it (On my Sport Tech there is anyway, maybe not on Sport and Base)

I'm surprised that he complained about Android Bluetooth connectivity. I just got a 2015 Subaru Impreza wagon and my HTC (his same smartphone) connected immediately and kept connected without any problem whatsoever.

Happy I live in the US. I got my base WRX (list $28,000) for $19,000 with my 2009 Impreza trade in; that's about $850 under invoice.

Zach there has to be a way to open the trunk with the car still running. I'm interested in one of these but I'm put off they got rid of the hatch. STI is way too expensive that's why I bought an S4 for the same price. Good review by the way.

Guys what's with the blind CVT hate? CVT can be good or bad totally depending on implementation. Some early poor implementation imprinted a bad impression in some people's mind. Like transistor amplifiers (I play guitar and bass so I'll use that analogy). They were so lifeless and brash sounding that people thought tubes are always better. But these days transistor or even dsp modeling types will surprise you how good they are!

Cvts are not bad. I drove a Subaru with a cvt while I was in Hawaii, it was ok. The WRX should have a manual transmission though The cvt is for women

+zeebazu WRX's with CVT's have lower power outputs, like -30whp and -40wtq compared to the manual. I test drove a CVT WRX about a week ago and was pretty unimpressed. Car is about the same size and has same build quality as a Honda Civic. Only thing the car really has going for it (over a Civic) is that's its a lot quicker than a Civic (due to AWD and Turbo) and handles better in bad weather under throttle (due to AWD).

I have the CVT and it is a beast of a transmission, ive blown away GTI' s and ford focuses SE's and Brz's and even taken an older model STI, so don't knock it till you've tried it.

I would sure hope you would beat the GTI, Focus SE and BRZ. All of those cars have far less power, and none of them are AWD. As far as the STi goes, it doesn't really surprise me. This new 2L is outstanding

if youre going to do a review first do the basic work of finding the trunk release below the steering wheel and the button to raise the armrest. i pretty much cut the video off right there and wont watch any more of your videos since you cant be bothered to spend any time learning about the car you are reviewing

Yep. Right at 6:22 the trunk release is just to the left of his left hand. (It's the button with a white graphic on it.) There is an armrest extension available which adds a few inches of height; or, you can buy the JDM extension -- which is a second bin that goes under the armrest and increases the height by about 4 inches.

First of all, if Subaru wants to bench mark itself against the automatics from the VW group (the DSG), Subaru should have gone with the DSG, not the stupid CVT, it's the most idiotic transmission for this car. In fact, CVT is the worst type of transmission out there, period. Second of all, if Subaru truly wanted to push more cars out the door, they shouldn't have killed off the hatch/wagon, because apparently in the US, 50% of sales were the hatches!

CVT used to be awful, but after some nice polishing it's potentially the most efficient automatic there is, if you drive it right. Since one of Subaru's main weaknesses is fuel economy, CVT makes a lot of sense.

8:55 on your video look to your left you will find 2 buttons one is your trunk release . No problems yet with blutooth connection galaxy note 4 .. stereo sound quality sounds shitty . 2015 premium manual dark metallic

I think it's way to expensive personally. Someone who for example , Can't drive manual/stick they'd want the automatic, usually automatics are 1k+ more, and than it quickly adds up. I think personally they should have a redesigned or bring back the hatchback version, they could put that to more sales, if done right.

Pairing bluetooth has to be done using voice commands. Otherwise you are paired as a 'guest' Took me 2 months to find that on my 2011. Dealer had no clue

Does the 2015 WRX burn or use oil? A new car should not burn any oil. The 2013 legacy manual states that 1QT of oil per 1000 miles is normal. This cant be true, and if so is there a fix? I know subaru has issues with burning oil on several modules. Any info would be appreciated.

Remember that all cars imported into Canada, unless built under the North American Free Trade Act, are subject to 6.1% duty. This means all imports built in Japan, Korea and Europe. On this car, it adds about $2000 to the price. Then the dollar difference makes up the rest. Canadian cars also come with more standard features, which changes the price.

I have tried this CVT. Good, but Subaru does not make the best CVTs. This CVT is better than Subaru's XV Crosstrek CVT & the Legacy's CVT, but still not on par with Nissan or others. Get the stick and rock out. Way better choice for this car.

Learn about the car you are reviewing before giving wrong information to any viewers of your video. The WRX is an awesome vehicle manual or cvt choice will depend on where you are doing most of your driving. The Subaru CVT has changed opinions of some of the most harshest critics of autos, myself being one, I said I would never have an auto let alone a CVT, guess what, I would happily own one after test driving the Subaru WRX CVT the way it is meant to be driven. Awesome car, I prefer the WRX over the STI simply due to the fact I cant use the late boost in the STI where I am living now, the WRX boost comes on so early that the acceleration times of the WRX and STI up to 100kph are identical.

CVT sucks unless your an overly cautious driver or elderly you don't need a gas saving transmission. also a CVT will NEVER compare to dsg /pdk style transmissions , don't let him sell you on that. if you buy this car either learn to drive manual or get a gti

Actually from an engineering perspective, a CVT is the most efficient and Fastest transmission anyone in the world could build by far. The problem is that everyone wants it to freaking shift. Having fake shift points hurts the concept of a CVT. Watch Engineering Explained's video on CVTs and why it's the best transmission possible for both economy and power.

I own a CVT, it is the shit. It is an awesome and intuitive transmission. Unless you like manual, I would go CVT no doubt. My CVT keeps up with my friends stage 1 STI (2015) no problem at high altitude. It is worth it.

Automatics are not fun to me I prefer manuals all day. They are more fun and I have more control over the car

A cvt cannot come anywhere near the performance of a pdk from Porsche. They are two very different units.

Release for the trunk is where it is on almost every car: to the left of the steering wheel on the dash, just by the dimmer switch. Subaru offers an arm rest extension as an option, though its a garbage piece. The digital gauge is configurable to allow for digital speedo in realtime, so who cares about tiny speedo font. Come on man do your research.

Did you even research before you buy? There is a trunk release and you can buy a $150 armrest extender. CVT sucks. Simple. Driven a DSG and a CVT and a manual. I wouldn't buy CVT ever. The reason why people go for DSG or equivalent dual-clutch is because it is more practical in terms of mileage and faster than manual. CVT on the other hand, is slower than it's manual counter-part.
