Repair manual says to never remove the two special bolts you mentioned early on. They are torqued and set at factory so only remove 21mm bolts.

the mounting bolts are to be removed, the special ones are not to be removed.

Jack stands location: Answer.. Just did this job and here's what I used. First remove the splash panel (like for an oil change). To the sides where the panel attached near the fender you'll have some "flappy" rubber pieces it screwed into.. move one aside and look directly above it.. you'll see a nice machined-flat part of the subframe which worked well for me. It's exactly as I just described it - you'll know when you locate it. (Not part of the control arms or other movable components) I'm not a certified mechanic, proceed at your own risk.

You really should replace the wear sensor with a new sensor each time you replace the pads. They are a relatively cheap part so why skimp out on that?

Excellent video, straightforward job with no need for audi torx bit. I used Raybestos Element 3 pads as it was the only non dealer pads I could get on short notice. I went with 140 ft lbs on the carrier bolts. Don't forget to change the intermediate clips ans lube with lithium grease per audi tsb.
@sco6081

Edit. I tried to get by just with pads but they started to squeal. So I did it again and got Zimmermann rotors and pads as the raybestos ones were dusty and noisy.
