very informative review, as always. my first bmw was a 1983 733i and i have been hooked on the 7-series (for the most part) ever since.

Just purchased a used one this morning for $24,573 I love it.

Purchased one of these new in 2016. The 7.50xi M-sport. Spent over $100k for this car. Has been at the dealerships service department almost more time than it’s been with me! One problem after another. From electronics that don’t work properly. To engine and break malfunctions. The only thing good I can say about it is the service department at the dealership I bought it from really tries to address the problems. But the car itself in my opinion is horrible!! I would never buy this car again!!!

As much as I like 7 Series BMWs - I've owned 3 of them - I can't buy them anymore because of this stupid new gimmick of putting iPad looking screens on top of dashboards. It's lazy interior car design and I'll be glad when car designers get back to making dashboards that have screens IN the dash rather than on top of the dash.

Very detailed review, outside of the fact that BMW offered other features, which would be remote parking, and the LED rear sunroof, which looks like little stars at night if opted with that feature. Otherwise, great review.

But Bmw has a 6 cylinder and Mercedes doesn't. I would prefer a 6cylinder of Meecedes v8. Thats something the s class is missing, better mpg.

Please do not insult BMW by trying to compare Mercedes-Benz with BMW. There really is no comparison and you know it.

Mercedes-Benz are not even remotely near BMW mate, and you know it. Mercedes-Benz are ugly, the engine line up is really weak and in comparison to the barnstorming BMW range, Mercedes-Benz do not come in the frame what so ever. The C-Class engine line up is abysmal in comparison to the BMW 3-Series. It also looks ugly in comparison to a 3-series and I do not understand why people buy them. The same applies to the E-Class. Again, poor engine line up and ugly looks, I mean really ugly. S-Class, again, to me ugly, but at least it has an agreeable engine line up. I own a 435d M-Sport Gran-Coupe. Mercedes-Benz equivalent is a poor excuse. Engines, I laugh at, a C200d, C250d which are tiny 2.0D engines that a clutter, clutter, or if you want a more powerful version you have to get a C43 or C63AMG, which drives like a pig and is exceptionally expensive to run because they are V8. So the engine line up is weak. Either you have a 2.0D engine or a AMG V8 engine. Not really competing with BMW is it?, lets face it. I have had the benefit of driving a 750i M-Sport recently from a client of mine who lent me one for a week. It was a beast, expensive though to run and fill up and obviously a diesel version so, 750d, 740d, etc, etc would be the perfect line up. What you get with the new 7-Series is road presence on a different level to Mercedes-Benz. However, the 750i I had for that week was way to big and way to expensive to run on petrol, I mean excessively expensive, three times as much easily than my 435d. I am use to a 435d which can do 50mpg, is as quick if not quicker than the 750i, it also looks better and is less likely to get scratched to buggery in a car park. 6/10 for the new 7-Series, but a barnstorming 9/10 for the 435d. Go figure that one out then. But each to themselves.
