Great to see Mike getting a chance to work his magic on a more modern Landy and kudos to the customer (Paul?) for being brave enough to allow Mike a chance to point out all the faults it has.

This is going to be a good one, and a reason why I like the original Defenders!

That light under the back is almost like a convoy light on the military Defenders.

My thoughts exactly... added for that military feel.

Convoy light would be on the top or close to the rear axle diff which would be painted white, so it could be seen at night with all other lights off, that light is next to useless where it is located.

@@ralphdadge302 Thanks for clearing that up Ralph, owning an ex military 110 of my own I do realise where the convoy light is situated, hence me saying 'almost like a convoy light' and not 'it is a convoy light'... 👍😅

The video showed well what they Autoglym does. Always had the same result myself too. It's great stuff.

Mike - you should rebrand your shop as an “expedition specialist service centre”. Seriously. You would be very surprised at how many Defenders there are in Canada in any given month on their way across the country and to countries further afield. North American support is needed!

Needs front roll bar spacers cause of the lift and the propshaft putting the correct way round, slider to the rear and probably a propshaft spacer.

My MY15 is leaking ever so slightly from the speedo sensor. Will keep an eye on it and try to feel if it comes loose.

My Defender 90 puma has a strange sound on the axle when I change gear, I don't know what can be, It's like a metallic knock, but if I change gear over 2500 revolutions quickly it doesn't sound, it is much more noticeable in the first gears. Greetings from Chile

Hi Mike. What I noticed immediately is the front propshaft hasn't been assembled in the proper way. At least one spine angle missing to have a 90° opposition of the cross spiders/u-links. Or are my eyes fooled by the video?

I did some research on this and found the following at landyzone: In a nutshell - a UJ does not deliver constant velocity. It slows down and speeds up as it rotates. If the two UJs are in the same plane they automatically cancel out this speeding up and slowing down - producing constant velocity. This is true for the rear prop - the diff flange and handbrake drum are in the same plane relative to each other. If the UJs are not in the same plan (like the front of Defenders, Disco 1s and RRCs for example) the prop will vibrate because they no longer naturally cancel each other out, e.g. a mismatch is created when the front UJ is accelerating the rear is wanting to slow down etc - eventually causing the UJs fail. By phasing the front prop by 45 degrees the effect is minimised, though never entirely eliminated. Anyone with experience about different angles because of velocity issues? Also according to the experts the shorter part of the prop shaft(the one with the spine) is mount to the gear box.

@@RainerDetering Out of personal experience the propshafts on the pumas are all phased meaning the two UJs are out of sync, This is a result of the funny angle the transfer case (not horizontal or in plane) and gearbox sits at in the defenders. If you go anywhere out of spec with a lift the propshaft vibrate and start to interfere with the anti-rollbar. The only solution around this is a double cardon propshaft and make it a beefy one to avoid failures down the road. I recollect that the phasing is acutally up to 1 of 16 splines (where the transfer case leads the drive shaft in fwd rotation) on a aftermarket terrafirma propshaft (finer spline will need more). Trial and error. I have also found that in certain chassis lengths the rear propshaft also runs slightly smoother with a small phasing (also the transfer case leading in fwd). The nightmare is that the propshaft is balanced from factory in the in phase configuration and therefore when it is phased you can only hope that the balancing is still close enough.

@@spektrae I fully understand the logic behind. But is it only for the puma because of the 'funny angle' and why is it difficult to find it documented? The moment the u-joint is at an angle the momentum is changed because of generating an elliptical gear which is causing this interference. You probably could write a book about it
