My 2016 did this exact thing a few months after I got it. Got it in 2019, alarm going off randomly during the night during freezing rain, heavy downpours etc... Had some hatch body damage by the time it started, so I can only assume the previous owner was unaware of the issue. Dealer took care of it in the end.

Is there a service bulletin or are you on your own as far as how to repair it?

No service bulletin just something we have encountered. Just replace the grommet for the rear wiper motor or replace the rear wiper motor depending how corroded it gets. Same with the tailgate latch if there are any pins left on the connector from all the corrosion.

This is why Honda should bring back all their manufacturing back to Japan. The parts quality is also disastrous in North America. Honda Japan, bring back all manufacturing and parts manufacturing back to Japan to save your brand. Don’t wait till it’s too late…look what happened to Nissan. Disastrous.
