This is a complete walkaround inside and out of my 2016 ISUZU NPR V8 Gas Crew Cab. The idea is to convert it into an Overland Camping Vehicle.

I have been looking into these as well, Look forward to following your progress with the build. Good to see, not many brotha’s are into overlanding and off roading. I’m usually the only Brotha on the trail, lol.

Hey Bro! They’re good rigs to build. The drive surprised me. It drives so well. Tight turning radius too! I don’t know if I’ll get to complete this build. I’m actually selling it. But if I clear out my other projects before it sells then it’s on!! I’m secretly hoping it doesn’t sell haha. And yes. We gotta spread the word to our bros lol.

This is awesome. I came down this path as well! Love the look of cab overs. I also bought a crew cab however I went with an older one 2003 PRE-DEF Diesel hoping to one day travel the world! Haven’t started yet but been slowly acquiring parts…..np205…axles….oh yeah I’m going to make it 4x4. I am going to build it out of a aluminum box I believe it’s Morgan…. I would love to use composite panels but a little out of my price range right now plus there not that easy to come by. I will start posting as soon as I begin. I hope you do build it! Your are right not many NPR people on here! Let’s make a trend

Hi EMI! I look forward to your build. You may be starting faster than I am. I need to get rid of my LMTV and Chevy express so I can start on this. I think it will be an awesome build!! I was afraid for you when you mentioned traveling the world and diesel. Until I read pre-DEF!! That’s the key. Good job landing one I think that’s the way to go! I like my gas but would love a pre-def diesel. Are you doing all your own work? 4x4 conversion too? I’m in CO you?

I will be doing all the work. We might end up starting at the same time I’m still finishing up a few housing projects before I start the truck. Unfortunately I’m in California(they hate diesel!) I still have to figure out the registration if I were to keep it in my state. It will eventually be a motor home but until then it will be tricky…….might just register out of state for now. Wondering why you are selling the LMTV…I’ll have to watch the rest of your videos……now subscribed I’ll keep watching waiting for you to start 🚚

@@emiexplorers2015 ah yes that’s tricky in CA. A little tricky in CO as well registering mine. It technically has to be registered commercial same with the insurance. Until I get it converted to an RV designation. To do that it has to have a bathroom, onboard water and bed or something like that. Not too bad to meet the requirements. I love the LMTV. It will make a great camper one day. Comes with 4x4 already and that’s huge. 4x4 on the Isuzu alone is 30k. However. I like the smaller size of the Isuzu as an overlander. The LMTV has its benefits no doubt. And ideally I’d keep both and build them. But the reality is to focus I need to lose one.

EMI how is the build going? Which Morgan box is it? How do you do a 4x4 conversion? So many questions lol. Thx for any info.
@emiexplorers2015
@emiexplorers2015 2 жыл бұрын
I’ve yet to begin lol but I contacted so many companies fab shops to convert it to 4x4 and I found that yes very expensive! Finally just came to the decision of doing it myself. My dad welds…….not a fabricator but we will be attempting it lol he doesn’t think it will be hard……we shall see! He works on axle swaps from time to time on trailers let’s see how it will translate. I bought a f350 4x4 roller that I will be taking the axles from and I bought a np205 transfer case. That’s as far as I’ve gone probably won’t start for another 2…3 months. Not sure which Morgan box it Is I do know it’s 13 ft long by 7.5 feet wide aluminum pretty light. Those lmtvs are huge! I love how the Isuzus feel like such a big truck but in reality are very compact. Having someone else about to start a similar project has re-motivated me! Almost thought of selling it and just get a fuso FG but I think the Isuzu is better built plus the CREW CAB!

Note that the Chevrolet is a re-badged and re-paneled Isuzu- GM hasn't manufactured their own HD vehicles since the very early 2000s, if I'm correct, due to their focus shifting away from capability and utility and more towards lifestyle/comfort.

Yay omg this is what I wanted, this is looking like what I will be getting as well, I see that the isuzu fvr is too big, NPR is perfect with a 15' composite box along with the crew cab that is more than enough space, the height would have to b e 7' though not 4 something. Good luck man and looking forward with seeing how you work everything out!!!

Hi Ocdrari! It’s an awesome platform to build on I think. Some pointers…there are 2 versions of this truck. One is heavier duty. You may want to look at that for your build based on weight. Also it’s a bit hard finding people to convert. I think there are guys in Florida that do it if you’re US based. Earth Cruiser sells one that’s already converted to 4x4. It’s called a CORE truck. May be worth looking into as well. Converting is pricey. So while the CORE may seem pricey it may be the way. But that’s all your call. Just providing my experiences. Good luck with your build!!

@iAmMarchal Жыл бұрын
Hi Tom. I abandoned the project. It’s so hard to get people to do the 4x4 conversion on them. Or the lead times are too excessive. Or the conversion would cost more than is practical. Covid really did a number on people who like to do this kind of thing. I ended up just completing a Winnebago RV and working on an LMTV Expedition camper conversion for now. But even those have been challenging between getting parts etc etc. Do you have one you’re converting? Look at the “CORE” trucks that Earth Cruise sells. I think it’s a good way to go. The conversion is already done. You just get a box for the camper.

@@iAmMarchal I worked on this for a year. Started with a self build of the habitat using a "reefer box" used. Never did go through with that plan. Then I found australmotorhomes who made the 3.5 pod for the Isuzu nps, the non American version of the Isuzu npr. Almost bought that. Yet, a Oregon guy stopped me and said don't do it. He said that company just sells the camper built in China rebranded at twice the price. So I did five months research and bought there. The Isuzu is converted to 4x4 by Ridgerock in Miami. I had to build a custom subframe. Ridgerock supplied the super singles. If you search youtube for australmotorhomes 3.5 pod you will see it. Very high quality composite build. You want one, I can deliver turn key for you!

@@iAmMarchal I'm very much in the research stage. I'm looking to get the Diesel model. Maybe the single cab. Joined a facebook group on DIY box-truck conversions. Lots of good info there. Still getting familiar with the market for used NPR's. I'm thinking I can get a great deal on one with low miles and fairly recent make for under $30G. They are quite abundant out there. But very much trying to understand where the potential mistakes are in buying one. I'm in no rush. I need a really good deal. I looked into converting them to 4x4. Looks like between $20K - $30K. I've been looking at alternatives to an RV. So far I think the NPR you get the most bang for your $buck.
