A free-revving V8, polarizing style, and lively handling make the 3rd Lexus F model one of the most interesting cars to ever come from the Toyota/Lexus portfolio. Those of you who were thinking about an M3 or C63 may just find plenty to like with this crazy Lexus RC F.

Lexus is the best. You can talk about the interior, styling, blah, blah, that's preference, the performance on average isn't quite that of the German brands, but the reliability is the best in the industry and to me that matters, even if these aren't necessarily the kind of cars you buy once and then drive into the ground. In the future I will only buy Lexus/Toyota as long as their continue to lead the industry in reliability.

Ehhhh for the prices charged I wouldn’t call it just a preference. The competition had improved their interiors for this year and on. And now it is 2021 and Lexus still sticks to the same interior, but charges the same premium price minus features and premium materials.

Lexus obviously keeps the traditional automatic and the proven engine for the sake of reliability. The Germans cars are better off the lot, but they aren't going to be anywhere remotely close in terms of repair costs after 200k miles, where it's likely the Lexus won't need a single repair.

Lexus should worry less about reliability on their F models, they should build F cars like they built LFA, forget about profit and offer some force inductions, like supercharger or small turbos for low end power without ruining the sound too much.

Trust me it will need repairs like any other sporty car thats pushed to the limit. Ive seen an e46 with 360k km and all they do is change oil nothing goes wrong but i bet u that guy doesnt abuse it like the avg m3 driver. Same will be the case with this. You will have carbon build up you will have to pay alot for tires and brakes and an oil change is an oil change. The omly diff is you wont run risk of turbos going which is def a big plus espeically if you cant do your own work on your cars. Im not knockin this car at all its pre cool and will hopefully and probabably last pretty long but dont expect it to be a camry hybrid lol.

@@stefanfreestylez 135,000 miles on my ISF. Tires brakes and oil are consumables. No carbon buildup if you use gas with decent detergents. I track my car and autocross every year. Nothing but maintenance. Look at plenty of youtube videos online. Tavarish just did a road race with a 200,000 mile ISF. These cars are bullet proof. E46's are gone. BMW cheaped out and the E90 M3 needs rod bearing work well under 100k. Sadly that a mix of not warming up the car and heavy oil but still was something BMW chose to put into production. Sorry, ISF's RCF's GSF's can take a beating without issues. The highest mileage ISF has 350,000 miles with nothing but fluid changes.

Lexus is still one of the best luxury brands in my opinion. Not only do they have good luxury features, but they're reliable compared to most other luxury car brands. Yeah the interiors may sometimes be overused at times, but reliability is one of the good selling points for any car I buy. I mean you do have Acura which also is reliable, but Lexus even more so. I hope Toyota keeps investing lots of money into the Lexus brand and keeps making good cars in the long run.

ANYTIME this guy reviews a Lexus I get nervous about watching the video. 1) " Interior reminds me of a Toyota " - Please enlighten us ! WHAT Toyota interior looks like this ? ( New Toyota interiors are pretty nice ) I would wish a Toyota interior looked like this 2) " A black sheep of the Family " " This is a Lexus are you kidding me " - So what are the ISF, GSF and LFA ? What is wrong with this guy? Stop calling this the black sheep when theres ISF and GSF running around on the street. 3) " A middle finger to all the Lexus hybrid drivers or ES and RX " - Are you serious? The ES, RX and Hybrid cars are excellent cars. Why would this Lexus be a middle finger to other Lexus cars? Its a Middle finger to other brands that think Lexus only makes Luxury soft cars. 4) " The LFA no one can afford " - So your gonna discredit the LFA because its expensive? Tons of rich people brought the LFA. Do you discredit Lambos, Ferrari's and porsche ? MOST people cant afford those either but because its a Lexus your writing it off instead of talking about how great the LFA was? The LFA beat all lambos and Ferraris at the time. 5) " All the Lexus in the past were fucking boring " - When did making super nice Luxury cars become a negative thing ? This guy is wrong. The SC300 with the Manual was fun car to drive. The IS300 5 speed manual which has a cult following is a great car to drive. The V8 GS300 1999 won Motor Trend sport sedan of the year and it was also the fastest automatic sedan on the road back them. The 2006 IS350 was the most powerful car in is class when it came out. It was faster then the V8 Audi sedan. It was also names the best Japanese Sport sedan. It clocked a 0-60 of 4.9 back in 2006 and was being called a rocket sport sedan. 6) " Toyota/Lexus tons of boring cars " - EVERY manufacture outside of exotic makes normal everyday cars. Even BMW makes certain boring models. When you drive outside how many normal boring cars do you see ? Those are what sale those cars are what makes companies their money.. the normal boring cars. Cars like this dont bring company a boat load of money. I can appreciate a Corolla, altima and boring Civic and I can appreciate the RCF and M4 just as much. Anyway. Love the RCF. Has the Looks sound and performance. Its a winner for sure. Also other reviews said the RCF has great handing... this is the first time i have seen someone call it numb.

Toyota4Life 2JZ IS KING! GS300 Aristo! Glad you mentioned the sc300. Fuck this guy. Yes lexus has always made nice quiet comfortable smooth riding luxury cars. If you want fun handling kidney brusing rough ride like lambos then just buy coilovers and put on full stiff setting on any toyota lexus. Regardless the ride on these cars are far from buicks and cadillacs..

I just bought one (2015) and honestly, you don't feel the weight. I also own a 2014 Infiniti Q50S and it feels way heavier than the RCF. I think everybody that says it's heavy don't own one seriously. You can't give your own opinion on what you read on the internet, you have to feel it. And for 46k$CAD or 34k$USD found a car better than this...

@@fpbibi yoooo, I was just looking into buying a 2015 rc f for $50k CAD with between 32k and 50k km in mileage. What's your breif review of it's driving dynamics? I have an 2014 es350 and that's too boring to drive, now I added a 2018 Cayenne to the garage and it has blown me away with its handling (SUV, base model engine, and handles better than any car I've driven lool). So I was thinking of a cayman but the flat 4 engine is just a no for me. This rc f on the other hand has a v8. I'm nearly fully convinced of this car, just need to test drive it properly to determine its handling capabilities. Other option was a 2017/2018 Nissan 370z. But I don't like the interior compared to Lexus and porsche lol

None of them are trash. The build quality of all are better than 95% of American cars and 90%+ of European cars. That said, the quality of American cars (even inexpensive ones), and European cars, has gone way up in the past 15+ years. People like to talk shit about the quality of American cars, but their quality was good and many times excellent except for one period in the late 1970s to the early or mid 1980s. Basically it's always been true that you get what you pay for.

to me the design of lexus is superb. I like almost every model of lexus except the es which in my opinion looks too tame. The thing I like about lexus the most is ironically the grill area. Lexus could have easily copy and pasted a grill design from another car company, but they had the balls to create a different design unlike any other. Of course with such a radical design most will shy away from it but isn't that the reason for buying a luxury car? to have a automobile that is different from the rest?

11:38 : yes, "consumers want apple carplay and Android auto"... Whatever, Lexus and Toyota figured out that those programms are huge safety risks in terms of private safety, and car system safety. The consumer want them, but they don't understand that a good hacker can track their every move and record their words with those two products. If they knew that, they would probably re-think this love.

Everyone trashes Lexus for some reason. They make good reliable cars, that look good. Everyone bashes their appearances, but they will last longer than most other cars on the road. And no one ever brings that up in video reviews. You just talk about design and how it drives. Not how reliable it will be. And that's what consumers will mainly want instead of it looking perfect and having the perfect materials. People want a car that will last them a long time, and Lexus provides that with most of their cars. And don't compare everything to other cars, just brings down peoples views in an otherwise great vehicle to own.

RC-F is not a bad car (very good car imo) but the fact you can buy 2 new Camaro SS's for the price of one RC-F (using prices on cars.com) speaks to how amazing the Camaro SS is in terms of value. The Camaro SS is also faster so that's another bonus lol.

@ 2:13 - Seriously people thought this car was ugly!? What do they find pretty? the obnoxious RX, the hideous LX, the atrocious UX? C'mon people, this was one of Lexus's best designs. I get it, the predator grille IS NOT for everyone, but this was, by far, their best implementation of it unlike their SUV's!

Overall your review is very good, but I do have a few points of constructive criticism if you don't mind: 1. The RC F does come with a heated steering wheel, but it is included in the "All-weather Package." Your test vehicle clearly did not have that package, so it would be wrong to flat out say that the RC F does not have it while the RC 350 does. 2. Like another commenter stated, you use terms like "feels like a Toyota" and refer to the car as a "hodge-podge" or "Frankenstein" of car parts, which should be avoided. If it feels like a Toyota to you, please give more detail explaining why and what could/should be improved. You just state that it does, but that's it--without any explanation at all. And when people talk about the RC F being a "hodge-podge" or "Frankenstein", they make it seem as if random parts were slapped together and the individual parts can easily be seen or differentiated, implying that the car is "ugly" in visual or performance aspects. It is quite clear that the chassis is put together very well. The lines flow beautifully and the handling of the car is excellent. It is definitely not the best-handling car out there, but it also isn't coming apart at the seams simply because the chassis is derived from different cars in the Lexus lineup. You also refer to the RC F as a "hodge-podge" in your video review of the GS F, but can you honestly say that the RC F chassis isn't as sturdy as that of the GS F? If you can't, then you should not continue to refer to the RC F as a "hodge-podge" of car parts, as it is in bad taste. 3. Your review is first I have seen that has actually complained that the trunk space is too small! Compared to other 2-door coupes, the RC F trunk is massive and very practical! But yes, if you compare it to the trunks of 4-door sedans, it will be smaller. In the future, it would be wise to compare 2-door coupes to other 2-door coupes and 4-door sedans to other 4-door sedans when it comes to criticizing potential flaws. Again, your review overall is very good. I have owned the car for almost 10 months now, and I agree with your criticisms in areas where Lexus can improve. Keep up the good work, and I hope you consider some of my suggestions to improve your future video reviews!

Tarzan A I agree with most of what you said, but you can't deny that the chassis being derived from different vehicles isn't there best way to go. It's not that were concerned whether it's sturdy or not, it's just the chassis isn't quite optimized for the car and it's heavy because of that.

I'm doing concerts and music venues in a regular basic. I choose the RCF because I can fit my Marshall 1960a 4x12 guitar speaker in it without having to clap the rear seats. Go and google what this thing is and you will understand that this trunk is far from beeing small.

@@M67v You say that yet, the Cayman has parts from the 911 thrown on. The front clip is entirely pulled from the 911 while the rear has controls arms from the 911 GT3 and is also a mish mash of parts. All cars are pulled out of a parts bin. That's how they're kept cheap. The shared components make higher performance cars more accessible to us all.

@@M67v The problem is the lighter you have to get the more you have to pay. Composites cost a ton of money. The Cayman's base price has grown but look at it's output. For RCF level output with a luxury feel and it being lightweight pushes the price up significantly. Out of all the things that cost money, weight savings is what costs the most. Hell the valves in the motor are titanium, the cams are hollowed out and so on. While building my track car, weight savings cost the most. Boosting, or building a motor has a fixed cost. Reliability and material choice is a fixed cost. But when you get into lighter bolts, lighter balancers, pulleys, and so on, it just gets really expensive. Sames goes for tuning bikes. The highest cost comes from that alone. BTW Lexus did just announce the RCF upgrade. More power, more track focused and lighter apparently. Lets see how it does. 2020 proposed release.

The only real downside is the chassis hybrid construction. A dedicated chassis is arguably the only reason why it weighs about the same as the RX350. On a comfort biased coupe it wouldn't be a big problem, but on a small sport coupe directly aimed at a M4 or C63, yes it is a big problem.

This guy talks about how Lexus is different from 'one chassis' german manufacturers, yet still complains. A VW Vento is the same as the Audi A3 underneath. Skoda Superb shares the same skeleton with the Audi A6. Lexus stands out by manufacturing every component of their cars just particularly for Lexus and they dont share it with Toyota. Toyota LC & the Lexus LX look alike but if you cant tell the difference you are ignorant. No one should be buying the Cayenne instead of the Touareg in that case. From Dougs review on the LC500 I found out that most of the screws even on that Lexus has 'lexus' engraved on them. MIND = BLOWN

I really don't agree with the interior is boring and all previous lexus cars are boring.People complained before that Lexus design was too subdued.Now that Lexus has gone all out with a radical look people are complaining again.And the interior reminds you of a Toyota? Which Toyota has an interior like this dafuq?.Seriously please be more original in your reviews instead of just jumping on the bandwagon with the Lexus hate.Its an amazing car with an aggressive design.Nothing wrong in being different.
@theredline

We in no way have any sort of hatred toward Lexus or Toyota. We love the fact that they are sticking to a N/A V8 for their top performance models. Regarding the interior, while there are some nice elements that remind you this is a luxury brand. The current IS and RC simply have too many plastic switch gear pieces you'll find in a Camry and the infotainment system is easily a decade behind most of their German rivals. Their refusal to incorporate Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is also another glaring omission. Lexus has the potential to be the only Japanese luxury brand to truly compete with other high end tier-1 brands and their next generation of vehicles will reflect their newfound commitment to incorporating beautiful design, sporty driving dynamics, and high tech luxury crafted interiors.

Tip: Use a scooter to take a video going around the car. The fast jittering and the unsteady motion makes that particular portion of the video very amateur. And slow down, it's not a roller coaster. It's much easier on the eyes to do one slow 360 walk around, than 5 tornadoes around the object. It's also why rotating floors at car shows take their time, not spin like a laundry spin cycle.

A boring luxury brand? No more boring than Mercedes or Audi. The comparisons between Lexus and Toyota are rather tedious. Audi's are just VW's. This Lexus is an amazing car.
@theredline
@theredline 7 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is well known that Audi is owned by VW, but unless you're sitting in their smallest and least expensive A3 or Q3, you'd be hard pressed to notice and trust us, we have pointed out their flaws in our previous reviews. However, you can't say the same thing about Mercedes or BMW, they are a stand alone luxury brand. That being said, it just means Audi and Lexus have to make sure and do more to keep their cars from feeling like fancy versions of a mainstream car.
