Thank you for spending the time and money to compare the differences between the two. I feel it’s a no brainer given the price. The quality of some aftermarket parts have come a long way. The cost of the OEM air filter and similar build quality would steer me towards aftermarket.

Greay video! We usually buy the cheaper ebay set for under $20. Change every year/ 10k miles oil change. That’s actually more steps in the 16 rx vs the 15 we gave. Its super easy in our GX460, only have to remove the door. We had an Infiniti qx60 and Mercedes ML, pain in the rear to change cabin air filters.

You can buy OEM filters on Amazon at discounted prices being sold by Toyota dealers. Something else I expected to see in this video is an explanation of the difference between OEM Toyota cabin air filters and aftermarket filters. The "UP" arrows on the Toyota parts and filter simply tell us which side goes up for the parts they are found on. They have nothing to do with air flow direction. Well, not directly anyway. Up means "this side up"; however the air flow direction is down, not up. Air flow arrows on aftermarket filters should point down. All horizontally mounted cabin air filters with the blower motor mounted below the filter will have downward air flow. Otherwise the blower motor mounted below the filter would be full of dirt and debris instead of that dirt collecting on top of the old filter.
