I show you which LED's I use and how to install them in a new 2016 Toyota 4runner. Its a very simple thing to and can drastically change the look and feel of your vehicle, while providing a luxurious overall experience.
I've done this to every vehicle I have driven and it surely is my favorite mod.

I bought these led's from Super bright leds.com however a few of the bulbs have failed and the return process has been very extensive and a nightmare. I would highly suggest using a different company that can provide top notch service and products. If you know of one, please tell us in the comments.
for the puddle light
the Puddle leds are from hidextra.com. The package says "T10-8smd3528f" its a round top/flat base

Great stuff, thanks for posting and for the multi-angles which helped! I did basically the same on my '17 but used red lights for the door courtesy & trunk/cargo, with the dome lights turned off when camping at night it's a perfect way to save the night eyes a little bit.

A couple of things I learned while changing mine, with the door courtesy lights, I popped them all out and unplugged so they could cool off. The old incandescent bulbs get hot as heck! Once I had them popped out, went back to the first one and it was already cooled down. Now for the puddle lights, I do not recommend leaving the mirror hanging by the heater power wiring. It’s a friction connection and could fall off easily. After swapping the lamp and reassembling if you put the mirror in place before the back color keyed trim plate there is a convenient space to get in and reconnect those heater wires. Then pop the back plate on and you’re done. Truly the hardest part of this whole swap was getting the darn map light bulbs out! The tape trick works well but the drivers side was stubborn as hell.

For your auto led light needs would recommend Vleds or Diode Dynamics. Between them you can find every led option. I’ve used both and have only had two times I needed to use their both customer service (Vleds for faulty headlight collar and Diode Dynamics wrong connector for strip led). Both replaced or refunded, no questions. I’ve had Vleds in four vehicles for over 3 years and not one failure. I swear by them.

Hello, I really like Diode Dynamics as well. I partnered with them about a year after I made this video and used their product to make videos of the Tail as Turn mod and the Switchback LED turn signals. Very good company to work with! Thank you for commenting and watching!

I couldn't use the tape method to get out the map lights bulbs. The original bulbs on my 2016 Limited are rounded. I got them out with needle nose pliers with the ends covered with some electrical tape. Be careful this is kinda dangerous. But I did get in new Diode Dynamics led bulbs. I gave up with the dome light because the Diode Dynamics bulb was a little long and I couldn't get it in.

Did you upgrade the fog lights to a white as well? did you also upgrade the hi beam/DRL and the low beam lights to a natural white? If so, can you provide the links to the ones you used? Are they all the same manufacturer? I am not very good with knowing all the light stuff, but I know I would like to upgrade the stock ones on my 15' 4runner. I am not keen on using different brands for the main lights because I want them all to match in color. thanks for any help

Great vid Ronin - interested in these for my '16 4Runner. Are these lights the blue or white light package from HIDextra? Were vanity lights included in the package? They aren't listed in the product description of the package on the website. Lastly, you didn't need the canbus option did you?

The Vanitys are the 194 wedge base and I used the same bulbs for the maps, license plate and courtesy lights. the white Puddle leds are the only ones from hidextra.com. The package says "T10-8smd3528f" its a round top/flat base. I did not use the canbus option. I got the cheapest package from HID extra but they sent bulbs that I couldnt even use for this application and some of the ones that did fit were just poor quality. but it came with the trim tools and those were helpful. The Ronin Chronicle from what I've read you've spoke pretty highly of HIDextra in the past, at least for the exterior bulbs. Would you recommend looking elsewhere for interior bulbs?

Hey there, absolutely! Their exterior bulbs are great! I would recommend them all day long. Actually, I did use their 194 wedge base bulbs in my corvette for the map lights and I do like them a lot. 2020+ 4 runners use a 29mm for the dome for the back seats not a 31mm.

How much were your headlights and was it a straight plug and play nothing else additionally needed? Are they the rzr leds

I actually have a video here that should answer all those questions. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hr6GpZucs77DoIU.html But in short, yes they are the razir LEDs, they were $119, yes they are plug and play, nothing else is needed. I will say they are very hard to install because the base of the bulb hits the metal of housing. You need to either file it or use brute strength. I really like them, so I didnt mind using brute force haha

Shows bulb type for the vanity / courtesy / license / map lights being 168 bulb type. But the order screen you insert is showing 194?

Hey there, yes the 194 can be used in those applications, they are interchangeable for that size. Here is the Automotive guide I used from Superbrightleds here: www.superbrightleds.com/vehicle/2016-toyota-4runner-vehicle-led-lights?make=77&model=208&year=2016 each one of those that you click on, will only show you 194 size leds. I have found a new company to go through called Diode Dynamics. www.diodedynamics.com/store/ Their service and products are excellent. I cant recommend going through Superbrightleds anymore because of multiple bad experiences with service and their product quality. hope this helps, thanks for watching!

Hey when you did your high beams, im looking at the HIDextra 9005 kit, did you have to install the relay for the daytime running lights? are those the razir 9005s? did you not need the relay if youre using led as opposed to HID

Help! I replaced all interior lights except the dome one because none seem to fit! The stock light has flat edges on each end that slide right into the little holes & just lock in place when you rotate to the side. I have a '16 4 Runner & have ordered 3 different lights & none have worked for me. Any suggestions?

Do you have any problems with headlights freezing in colder weather. I'm in Colorado and like the idea of LED over HID, but worry about my headlights freezing.

Hello, Thats an interesting question and I'm not sure. I've lived in AZ my whole life expect for being in Charlotte for a year. I did have HID then and never had issues with the cold. But with LED I haven't dealt with cold weather yet. I know that Storm Runner from IG and the Forums lives in Northern AZ so I will ask him.

How did you get the high beam to work at reduced voltage when it's used as a daytime runlights?

I did nothing, just plug and play. there is a very slight flicker though but It doesn't bother me in the least.

Awesome video, I have a 2016 SR5. One issue, the aftermarket dome bulb 3175 doesn't fit! The difference between the bulbs are the tip, OEM bulbs have sharp tips that fit well and after market bulbs are rounded. Any suggestions as to a particular manufacturer or solution?

Norman Allen I would use diode dynamics. Go to their website and you can find all the bulbs for you specific vehicle. In my opinion and research they have the best LEDs on the market.

I swapped the passenger side vanity no problem, the driver side will not illuminate. I tried both sides and another bulb. Help!

Hello! Thats unfortunate! Try to put the stock bulb back in to make sure the outlet is still working and not damaged somehow. If the stock light work, thats good that its not that problem. I would then try a third bulb. Try one that you know certainly works in a different outlet. If that doesnt work I would suggest looking to the forums or a 4runner reddit. I dont see why it wouldnt work though. Its possible to get two dud bulbs from the same company. Ive experienced that before. Hope this helps, keep us updated. Maybe another viewer will comment and help out.
