The air fins on the heads are not just there for looks they are still functional. The air cooling allowed Triumph to use a smaller radiator.

Besides being uncomfortable, the other thing I dislike about hard-core sport-bikes is that the fairing covers up the engine giving all the sport-bikes a cookie-cutter look. One thing that is nice about naked bikes, Harleys and the new Bonneville line is that they put the 'MOTOR' back in the motorcycle. The visual and visceral look of a motorcycle engine is one of it's most attractive elements, and one of it's strong selling points. Ultimate horsepower is not really relevant these days on public roads since there is always a faster bike and a race-track is required to enjoy their capabilities. Eighty to 100 hp is more than enough to scare the crap out of you on the back-roads and cruise at high speeds on the highway. Looks, comfort, sound, feel, and a torquey engine are a winning combination for the rider and for manufacturer sales volume.

You may not like the way fAirings "look" be they are functional. It's not like they put them on there for no reason.

Great review, thanks brother. As the owner of a 2012 T100 Anniversary (which I adore) the first thing I, and others I'd assume, want to know is does the increase in displacement bring with it more vibration?? No mention of that at all in the test, being vibration sensitive it's extremely important to me. Congratulations for being 1st to the Tube with some info on the new Bonnie!! Cheers...

even though its torquey the actual power output is too much on the modest side for the size of the engine............a power output of 120 bhp would still be modest and allow the engine not to be peaky........the black would only look good till the first dirty road then the cleaning woud drive you nuts............my pick would be the T120 with the chrome peashooter exhausts, thruxton r suspension and a nice crisp 120 bhp

@lennardspit
@lennardspit 8 жыл бұрын
it is a 1200 which you normally wouldn't want to recommend to start on. However, this one feels quite nimble and is not frightening, but it also isnt lacking character or power. A good alternative is the new Street Twin which is also very nice, probably better suited for beginners, but not really that much different from the t120.

+Marko Rabasovic You could always buy one of the older Bonnevilles? I have a 2008 T100 and it is a very forgiving bike and would be suitable for a new rider. Still great looking machines and I love mine, although I must admit that the T120 looks beyond awesome......if you've got the budget for one I'd go for it, I haven't ridden one yet but I reckon it will also be fine for a beginner.

+Alex Tran be a great bike for anyone, but the power, and lack of riding ability creates a great opportunity for beginners to crash this 10K+ bike. 1200cc is way more than anyone needs, especially a beginner. Look more at a cheaper, 250-300cc range. My buddy got a Ninja 250R 07 for 1850.

I really like most of the new Triumphs and especially these but why does everyone assume that these new bikes are connected in any way with the original Triumph motorcycles because they're just not. Les Harris agreed to sell the name to John Bloor but the logo had to be changed slightly. This is a new bike, new design, new factory, new designers, new crew and could just as well have been called a Kawasaki! I keep hearing reference to the old Bonny; there only ever was one Triumph Bonneville and these new bikes aren't them. It comes down to simple plagiarism, nothing more and nothing less and it's really annoying!

You seem to be confusing a consumer product with a life form ! ...In what way is a modern Kawasaki "connected" with a Kawasaki made 50 years ago ? different factory/ different tools/ different people / different corporate structure ... There is no DNA at work , using your logic a modern Kawasaki may as well be called a Sony.

Well it's a British company, and the bikes are designed and engineered in England.....so it gets down to semantics in today's global economy I guess! And on that note, what if the bike is built in a British factory and the workers there are immigrants from, say Pakistan? What then?

This is a "review"? Does it make any sense to read/watch reviews from media that depend on the consent (to get access to the bikes) and/or advertising revenue from the manufacturers themselves? Feels very dysfunctional to me. I don't feel like I kind trust any for-profit motorcycle review media. It's a greedy world... and it's getting worse...

Verry dispointed by Triumph, glad I have my 2014 T100... They just made the bike heavier, liquid cooled? Should still be air cooled, like in the old days. They just needed to make the bike lighter and add a gear... They just went the american way, "lets just put more power" . The radiator is ugly, the front wheel is too small, that LED headlight is ridiculous..
