You can use Google to make a quick conversion. It's not like American reviewers ever bothered to convert hp to kW.

Great review. I just tested the M240i and liked it a lot. Almost as powerful as the M2 and offers AWD.

Get the M2 then. With manual its 4k cheaper. Given it has a few more extras included it's barely more expensive than the M240i

Great review, CarAdvice team - thanks for sharing. I'd love a 2017 Golf R vs a 2017 M240 comparo. I recognise these 2 are at fundamentally diff price points, but it'll be very interesting for the community of car enthusiasts that love the thill/$ equation that the Golf R represents to understand what more does the 240i provide (more fun, no turbo lag?) and what are the trade-offs (coupe v hatch?)...

All the 2 series are fantastic, don’t discount the 230i, either, it’s very fast and very comfortable. The best all around model in the lineup.

Agreed - the basic 2-Series styling, even with the M-Sport pack, isn't tough enough.

I think the video convinced me to go look at one! I've been wanting a BMW for awhile but there are so many out there it's confusing. I want one over the 300 hp range for sure.

all the 40i models are over 300 hp, your best choice will be this one or the m235i, you can find great deals in the used car market.

cause the BMW M2 now using N55 engine not S55, so i think big different will be M240i and M2 CS, which M2 CS will coming next year, this M2 not good enough, but the S55 engine in M2 cs will be perfect, that will push M2 to 400 or more, so for me either M2 cs or M 240i

i tested both and went for the m240i just prefered the drive, did like s3 digital dash with inbuilt nav though. both cars more than quick enough for the road.

i have enough to get M2 but i went for M240i instead, why you ask? cause im a daily driver and need a car that wont fight with me all the time around city etc. and the difference between M2 and 240i is only reconizable on a track not on the road.. you never need more power than what the 240i has, plus its much more comfy. But if you want a track machine, you need M2 most of the time.

M2 is basically a track car. If you want a cool daily driver you get the M240i, if you like racing you get the M2. Besides some people like that the M240i looks more subtle. Less attention.. as far as the price, you can spec an M240i that costs more than a base M2. The price isnt really that much of a difference here in America.

If you buy/lease this year/model of BMW in USA, it will cost you ~$2,000 - POSSIBLY - MULTIPLE TIMES! - for a radiator replacement at the dealer claiming that's the driver fault WHILE IN WARRANTY! Here is how they do it: The 2017 BMW M240i has a MAJOR DESIGN FAULT - it does not have road debris protection. As such - ANY FRONT AREA RADIATOR FAULT, WILL NOT BE COVERED! INCLUDING RADIATOR MANUFACTURING DEFECTS! How you MIGHT be able to avoid this??? Check your coolant level YOURSELF! If you see your coolant missing from your coolant reservoir, WELCOME IN THE NIGHTMARE'S CLUB! Second sign - ALL THE SUDDEN YOUR A/C IS COMPLETELY DEAD! It has been confirmed by the dealer that this ULTIMATE DRIVING JUNK, DOES NOT HAVE A LOW COOLANT SENSOR. REALLY??? My 15 year old piece of shit american car has that future. SO, EXPECT NO WARNINGS FROM THIS ULTIMATE DONKEY MACHINE when this happens and be ready to be..! Yes that.

BoghyFL I was disappointed to find my f20 118i doesn’t have a low coolant sensor. I just assumed it did because my e90 323i does have one. I think it’s an essential item too.
