The more I look at it the more I like it. I agree with you, I like the way designers have started fusing old styling with new technology. It looks great. I prefer this to the XSR900, I think. You should check that one out Buddy, if you can.

I am a great fan of the XSR900, but I prefer this bike.

Had a test ride of an urban GS model yesterday and loved it! So the XSR900 is up for sale now 😊

I saw one of these in the showroom when I took possession of my F800GSA. If I had to use one word to describe how it looks it would be "cool".

Twice the thumbs up on your clip and your thoughts about the Karoo 3 tires, they are really good. I have learned that you must have ASC to be able to turn ABS off. So if you have the Base model with just ABS you can't turn it off.

Thanks for that info mate. I found this bike was a real pleasure to ride and more fun with the off road tyres on.

Nice to draw comparisons with the r90t. Shame you gave it such praise, now I want one.

This is my dream bike. Can a 5’5 man like me ride something like this? Or is it too high? Thank you
@franckjoly127 жыл бұрын
Just tried one, I have to be honest, I ride in a hot country, Saudi Arabia, these tires are NOT made for our roads here. The traction on this beauty sucks! I don't get the derby style wheels. However it is a beauty, and the sound is pure. Would I buy it, probably not. It's not for everyone, definitely try it before buying it. Might be or not be for you. Peace out, thank you for posting your review Buddy's Insight

i've had one for 2 weeks now as a courtesy bike whilst they fix my poorly GSA... and if they don't hurry up they're not getting it back .... in all ways it's an awesome bike

I hope someday I have that kind of motorcycle.

How tall are you and how does that translate to your experience on the bike?

Great review Buddy, thanks and well done on it. By the way, how high is the saddle? I'm 5ft 8 so wondering if I'd be okay/comfortable on it?
@buddysinsight98347 жыл бұрын
lordkilmainham I am 5 foot 9 and it was ok for me so I am sure you would be fine on it. It's a lovely looking machine. It's the kind of bike that people keep for many years. Loved it
@lordkilmainham7 жыл бұрын
It really is a lovely looking bike. Your remark about Steve McQueen in the Great Escape really resonated. It's that kind of bike. It could be 50 years old ! It's a design classic already.

I rode that actual bike when it only had 60 miles on the clock. It is fitted with ASC and the light kept flashing under acceleration due to, I believe, the twitchiness of the Karoo III tyres. They really do move around when braking and accelerating. The only downside for me was the standard height seat. I found it uncomfortable after about 40 miles but the good thing is BMW do a taller (by 30mm) seat that looks the same as a no cost option. Buddy, great review mate and you're right. NOG (North Oxford Garage) BMW are great guys to deal with and really friendly dealers !

Paul Harrison Thanks Paul. It was a nightmare doing this video in just one hour. When you first get on it the moving of the tyres feels incredibly strange but I think it's part of its charm. The BMW stand at the bike show this year was so busy and stunning. They have some really good bikes now. Take out the s1000rr that will make you smile

Do you recomand this bike with Off-road or on-road tires? Are off road tires safe?
@buddysinsight98347 жыл бұрын
Luca Menna I really enjoyed it but you do feel the tyre movement which I think you would get used to. The bike looks so good with them on but I would say there is a bit of extra skill needed. Take one out for a spin
@paulharrison81557 жыл бұрын
Mine came with the Karoo III's and to be honest I think they're fine. Yes they do squirm about a bit but then again I also own a T100 Bonneville that's fitted with Continental TKC80's and the Karoo's by comparison are better !
@lucamenna82087 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot! i'll choose karoo III, with TC optional.

Cool video and cool bike bro. I gotta go look over a gallardo Sunday, in the seller doesn't mess about. I will let you know if it's good enough to buy :) take care :)
@buddysinsight98347 жыл бұрын
I think the older Gollardos are now going up in price so for some now it could be a good investment. The brexit thing in the UK has stalled the sale of my project so I can't even look at cars yet. Its very frustrating when you want to get on.

I was looking at the price for a BMW R Nine was second hand and you can get a Ducati Diavel with low miles for the same price.
@buddysinsight98347 жыл бұрын
I think both of these bikes would be lovely to ride. I think once people get the sports bikes out of there systems these are the very best next thing to move onto. I love the Diavel to. The Bmw base model I think is £9.500 so they have tried to compete with the others. Thanks mate

Ha! So funny. I took the R Nine T Scrambler for a test drive today and I absolutely loved it. Very impressed. And the reason I'm bike shopping again is because I want to trade in my Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R. As I'm turning 50, I think I've gotten "the sport bike thing out of my system" as you put it. Its so much fine to ride...but not for more than 45 minute or an hour. Then I start to feel it in my hands, wrists, back. The R Nine T was just great. And yes, I love the knobby Karoo 3 tires. I think they feel great and they look great on the bike too. The bike was powerful, great torque, and super responsive.

KhaosMoto it could be that's for sure. It was a joy to ride. You could own this bike for many years. I am trying out a low frame GS 1200 next as it's something if it fits me I am going to buy. I want to do a bit of touring next year.

Its so hard to do a bike review in just one hour. You ride it to a location start talking and then you have to head back. If I had a day to make this vid I could have done a much better and more detailed job of it. Please BMW let me have more time when I take the GS out.

@christianjones40425 жыл бұрын
The only people who complain about the tyres in these are poor riders. It’s only an 80/20 road bias, but to hear them talk they’re mud tyres. People have gone around the world on this bike, completely standard. Same tyres, seat, everything.
@buddysinsight98345 жыл бұрын
Christian Jones it’s Because people normally ride 100 percent road tyres and when they jump on this it’s a totally different ball game.
@drdrew32 жыл бұрын
Given a choice of MODERN tyres with less vibration and better road traction most people will correctly choose touring types over the knobbies. Back in the day when Scrambler bikes originated there were far fewer paved roads and less differences among tyres. This particular model offers BOTH options from the factory. I changed mine to touring within a week and the bike is TWICE as nice

Your lane switching on roundabouts needs some serious work, you’re downright dangerous to other road users. How did you even pass your bike test? Nice bike, though.
@buddysinsight98343 жыл бұрын
I live next to that roundabout and have been using it for 40 years. When you leave a roundabout you have to cross lanes to exit. 30 years riding with no accidents how many people can you speak to with that history I haven’t spoke to one.

I wondered what you had been doing ? wheres the zed ? BMW: Not for me im afraid. Ask a primary school kid to draw a motor bike and thats probably what he would draw....a generic bike. To me it has no redeeming features and looks boring, coupled with probably the ugliest motor shape bar the guzzi its probably everything i dont like in a bike. Its probably very nice to ride but not for me. Triumph seem to be doing the more extreme thing as their entire catalog bar the speed, street and adventure range is quite literally....generic, retro and boring. Harsh in the nicest possible way...
