Those front pads (BR-1414) have been "superseded" by BR-2087 / AU2Z-2V001-F. The replacements do not have the ears/tabs on the back / inside pads. Same with the BRSD-1414 (Severe Duty) replacements, the BRSD-2087. Have you seen that? Are there any issues with using those pads on the inside, up against the caliper pistons?

Nice work. I did this for my 96 Explorer a few weeks ago. Same exact style 2 piston caliper and pins. Only a 17? My pins are always smooth. Good idea with the locktite on the bracket bolts - if those aren't torqued (or even if they are) they can get loose! The explorer is 140 on those caliper bolts too. I got the Grey Ford Rotors. Hope they don't rust in a few winters! I also got Motorcraft "Superduty" pads. Very impressive! There were a few bucks more. Maybe you can upsell them :lol:. I think from Rockauto all the front parts were under $150 shipped. I like painting the hub faces and under the hardware with antisize. My brakes failed because rust under the bracket hardware (same setup) locked the pads. Don't know if it helps though after a winter or two. Since its DIY I also did a scan tool abs bleed. I'm sure that would cost a few bucks at a dealer. Very professional work there!

Yeah these are like 140-150 as well my little gun doesn't put out any more than that so I'm right on the money every time so that's why I use this gun as long as people get them tight and make sure they're tight and put a little Loctite on it they are not going to come out of there

@fordbossme Hello rich, I understand it’s an old video but wanted to ask just in case, I was wondering what your recommendations are for brands of brake pad and rotors. I have a 18 f150 and was between oem or powerstop. Much appreciated in advance!

Quick question… it seems that I read somewhere that my 2017 F150 front brake calipers require the opening of a bleeder valve before compressing. I cannot find anyone that actually covers this step. Is this something that you are familiar with or that I should worry about?
@FordBossMe
@FordBossMe Жыл бұрын
Nope that is not true that was an old wives tale that was brought up back in the day and then it was like Toyota back in 1988 or 1990 had a problem with releasing the Pistons so they recommended people crack the bleeders to release them but there has been no manufacturer since then it says to do that so no you do not need to crack the bleeders do it exactly like I do in my videos

You also need to “burp the boots” and get all the air out of the caliper pin boots by pushing on the pin and compressing the boot and then while holding it there, use a small screwdriver to crack open one end the boot to expel the air out. If you don’t the outside pad could drag on the rotor wearing it down prematurely.
@hotajax

No you don't need to burp the boots. That's Biden talk.

you guys do these videos you have the camera zoomed in way too far, its nice to be able to see WTF without my eyes going wonky and getting nauseous, cuz you are zoomed in way too far, if you need to show a close up there are other ways, your editing software has zoom, or you can simply point to it with a screwdriver or move the camera in closer... you need to have more world in your frame if you want comfortable footage, not a panoramic or anything but about 50% more, so we can see pretty much the entire well, there are things we can do on our end to zoom in or increase resolution or whatever.. only about 30% of the world can tolerate zoom, if that
