Thank you, brother. Got my rusted rotor off my 2011 F-150. Bought it used from the state. Think it was part of a salting crew. Would not come off. Couple of turns and “ping” it broke loose! thank you! I owe you a beer.

Awesome, love to hear it! A salt truck is probably the worst situation possible for those rotors. Good on ya for breaking it loose! Thanks for the comment, it’s appreciated 👍👍

I'm late to the party, but I want to thank you for the rotor removal trick. I came to a halt yesterday evening because the rotor was stuck and worried all night how I was going to overcome the problem. Got on KZfaq this morning, saw your suggestion, and it worked great! Thanks again!

This jackbolt saved the day, beat on these rotors for hours, soaked them in WD 40 etc. etc., Was very discouraged and then watched this. I was not saving my rotors so I did not use the wood block, worked perfectly, great advice and tip.

Hello. Awesome glad this video somewhat saved the day for you! Nothing more frustrating than being unable to complete a job because of rust and corrosion disallowing parts to be removed. I’m glad this helped and I appreciate your comment! Have a fantastic day.👍👍👍

Amazing trick, using the bolts for removing the rotor - my rear F150 rotors were 100% rust-seized on and nothing we did was removing - heat, etc!! Thank you so much for sharing - saved us!!

Used 2 long bolts to push my seized rotors off. Spent hours trying to get off, and they came right off with the bolts and a torque driver. Thanks for the idea!

Jesus…that’s one stuck rotor. I’ve never heard of that happening before, but I’m sure you’re not the first. Maybe try an air hammer if you’re planning on replacing the rotor. Good luck 🤞

Ok after long looking and on the second set of brake pads on warped rotors, I’m gonna try it again with your method. Since I’ve already banged the hell out of my old rotors I’ve got new ones. Thing is I bought them 2 yrs ago and were fairly expensive so I can’t return them due to sit around the garage rust. The other option was to buy new rotors with bearings and I’m not really wanting to spend another couple of hundred dollars. I’ll share results later

Hello. The old and unused rotors should do the trick. Putting new pads on warped rotors helps, but only for a short time. If the unused rotors are very rusty, take them to an auto parts store and have them turned. Best of luck!

If you have aftermarket rotors, there are two holes on the plate itself with 3/8 inch bolt holes. Shoot PB blaster or WD40 in there along with around each of your Lug bolts... let sit a few minutes. They simple turn some 3/8 inch bolts in to the rotor mount and it will pop right off. F150 Rotors stuck issue and lets talk about those awesome lug bolts that swell with moisture and go from 21mm to at least 22M as well as you will need you will need to replace them as they strip....

You nailed it! Lol, yes I replaced the lug nuts shortly after doing this brake job. I’ve got a video on how to remove the swelled lug nuts too. Thanks for the comment!

I love using the bolt method, but on the rear brakes of a Tuscon the holes don't line up nicely with the rotor. They barely touch the inside edge of the rotor. And I don't have a puller or anything. Not sure what I can do. Hammer won't do it.
@FastFixYouTube
@FastFixYouTube Жыл бұрын
Yes, the bolt method is fantastic as long as it will work. I had the same issue with the rear brakes on this truck. I ended up using a large puller and a hammer. Check out this video to see how! You should drive the pistons back in with a screw driver or 2 before you start the disassembly. Way easier than a cumbersome c-clamp. Make sure you have room in the master cylinder for the fluid before you move the pistons. You didn’t check the slider pins either..

Unfortunately your bolt trick didn't work and loosening my rotors it just bent the bolts. I'm just hoping my rotors didn't get jammed up any worse than what they were. Any other tricks would be helpful. FYI I'm replacing my rotors. I also use the c-clamp method and pushing back the pistons. It's foolproof and has work for me for decades.

Bent the bolts? Geesh, that’s crazy. Rust is a PIA. That’s all the tricks I know if short of using a torch…

@@FastFixKZfaq e finally was able to remove them by using a very large gear puller and map gas torch. I was replacing these rotors anyway, so damaging them weren't an issue. I alternately tightened the gear puller and heating up the rotor three times before they released. When it finally released it sounded like gun going off. It was the craziest thing I've ever experienced working on my vehicles.

Yup, definitely something that’s not common these days. It was $17 to turn these. Retail for Ford part is $60-$70 each, so I thought worth it.
