anyone interested in buying a ram 1500 should not think twice. These trucks are very well built and precise. the tranny does shift soft for that smooth ride feeling. I love my truck and can't believe its such a nice ride. Hands down this is the best half ton on the market. The price was right too. I have 5 truck for the business 2013 ram 3500, 2015 chevy 3500, 2007 chevy Colorado, 2005 chevy Colorado, 2010 jeep wrangler. The 2016 ram 1500 is my favorite ride by far. In the snow it is perfect and handles almost to good, I check myself going to fast on the icy roads because it feels so safe. I put it in 4 auto and go. No studs just all season tires. I am a big guy that needs my extra room and this truck has all the room I need. We don't drive the jeep any more because how comfortable the seats are in the ram 1500. The chevy 1500 was a little small in the cab and the ford was $8,000.00 more money for the same options. The ford was roomy but the price tag was just to much. There nothing better than a good purchase you can brag about.

Hey I got a question, I've watch your video about the toyota tundra and it was good. But which truck would you buy the Ram 1500 or Tundra? I know the Tundra might have the better reliability. That's my biggest gripe with the Ram. I think the Ram looks better and has more tech, and the better buy. I like to buy a vehicle and keep it for about 200k miles on it. I know the tundra will get there with minimal problems but I don't know if the Ram will give me 100k trouble free problems.

I can sum up this truck in three words... I want it. My dream vehicle would be this truck, with this motor, and that interia, but in that nice dark metalic brown colour. Simply awsome Truck. If only they were available in the UK with right hand drive, I'd choose this over anything. Think I'm in love.

I love this truck I've had it for 8 years and I wouldn't trade it in for anything but when it hits 200,000 miles then I might trade it in on a new one we'll just have to wait and see but I love my truck thank you dodge for making a great truck

There amazing trucks!! I have a 2016 Ram 1500 Lonestar crew cab 4x4 with a 3.92 axle ratio and Hemi. It's loaded aswell one of the best trucks we've ever owned put 8000 miles on it in 4 months and loved it all. The ride is amazing aswell super smooth and great for road trips took it to Tennessee and back and was in comfort the whole way. Even better is I got it for $32500 with only 4800 miles on it. It was a hidden gem in the back of the lot no one saw and I got it!!

Really enjoyed this video, especially because I myself have a 2010 Ram 1500 with the 5.7 Hemi. Watching this for me is going to be different than others by default, but my thoughts on your videos: The only thing I wish you would have done is shown the cubby that's beneath the rear seats and flat foldout. I find it incredibly useful and I put my trailer hitch in there with all my straps. Addressing your negatives about the truck: I agree with the hump in the back. I hate it. Luckily I rarely have people back there, but when I do I know it gets in the way. I love my mirrors. I have the standard mirrors this truck had and I find them amazing. They're big for non tow mirrors (look at the Silverado!) and I can see just fine. This truck really doesn't have a blindspot. I can see people in small cars passing me on the right in the mirror and when they disappear off the mirror I can see the front of their car with my eyes by slightly turning my head. The blindspot is very tiny on the right side and nonexistent for me on the left side (I always shoulder check, so there is no blindspot for me, but if you don't shoulder check there will be a small one)

First, love the channel. Keep it up. Second, I have to admit, RAM is making a nice looking truck here. I love the interior. It really does have it's appeal. However, FCA can't make a reliable machine. They just can't. I'm a Master Certified Technician and just way they do things it's designed to fail. Constant electronic issues, transmission issues, PCM issues. They are built down to a price. My clients with FCA cars all have the same typical issues. The Jeep Grand Cherokee is the same thing. And half the time the dealer has no idea how to fix it. And the Daimler years? YIKES don't get me started. Again, it's a beautiful truck, and if it was made by someone else, I'd really be tempted. But, if you ask my opinion on this -- a guy that works on all makes and has seen the issues and quirks each make has -- I'd tell you to buy a truck built by someone else. As an aside, that MSRP is ridiculous. It's obvious they inflate that so they can offer you a "great deal" and you feel like you walked off robbing them. It's all part of the well-designed scheme. A nice side benefit is that there are actually people that do pay MSRP. It's a win-win strategy for FCA. I understand there are FCA fans here, and I kind of am one with this truck. I am almost sucked in by the design (but I know what's underneath and waiting). However, I am basing this on what I see on a daily basis, not just preference or fan affiliation. Take it as you may. I just hate working on my own cars so I rather get something that doesn't need so much needless repair due to cost cutting. I rather pay an automaker that puts the money I give them into a quality product instead of in their pockets. Again great vid, keep em coming! EDIT: The rotary style of shifter in this Ram is under investigation by the NHSTA for causing 25 accidents and 9 injuries. Apparently Park is not really park in some cases which causes rollaways. If you have one of these vehicles with this rotary shifter (RAM/Durango) please use your parking brake every time you put it in park! It may save you a headache (or worse) while they figure it out. Be safe out there!

Hey, man! I've watched your videos. I like how you give advices to people. It sounds like you have a lot of experiences with trucks. I just want to know what your thoughts about the RAM 1500. I've heard that Dodge/Jeep/Chrysler are the worst brand to go to if you want reliable cars/trucks. But while I was researching for answers to prove them wrong, it seems like the RAM 1500 are always behind the top pickup trucks. Considering there are only a few competitors I never seen it on the top 2 or 1. It's always the Fords or Chevrolets. The tundra I know for sure is reliable. In fact Toyotas are. But I keep having this feeling that I want to believe that this RAM 1500 has a potential. Or is it just the people who are making it sound bad for RAM 1500s? Is it the people's fault why RAM 1500s are below the ranks? Is the "It should be regularly maintained" applicable or does the RAM 1500 really has bad design or their materials really cheap that makes it not reliable?

Did you post a pic of the "yellow door" sticker for this particular (4x4) truck that I might have missed? The spec sheet you posted says 1230lbs payload with an asterisk. Be good to know what the actual payload is for this specific, optioned truck. When shopping back in late 2014, we considered RAM and (lower) payload on 4x4 models along with the middle back seat being a real penalty box place, crossed it off our list. We needed 5 real people seats and payload for our 7600lb travel trailer and family that would have exceeded the ratings of the Rams. Thanks - Great job!

Nice review. I just bought a new left over 2016 Ram 1500 4x4 Bighorn trim in the same configuration (however, with the 6'4" bed). I was able to get my truck that stickered at $47,995 down to $38,480 out the door WITH FCA's 0% for 75 months promotion last month. No other manufacture offered anything close to that deal. I still love my Superduty, but this half ton Ram is nice too!

N1ckN1ck100 Yes. That's not a bad payment for a brand new truck. My old 2010 Silverado I traded in had 70k when I bought it and my monthly payment was $430.00 No real "good deals" on used out there. I'll gladly pay $70 more a month for a new truck with factory warranty. I'd prefer a Ram 2500 or a Superduty... but those are the cash cows. I don't want to do $800+ a month.

John you make a good point. My stepdad is driving a 1994 diesel ram 2500. He works as a smalltime contractor. He's having a lot of transmission problems in the past weeks, he finally just fixed it after driving a rental for the past week. The engine has 305,000 miles he just needs a new transmission. New trucks these days seem so expensive. Hopefully he can keep it driving.

N1ckN1ck100 I wish him continued luck. Those older Rams were beasts! I was that guy for years. always had 1992-1997 F-250 & F-350 trucks. I loved them, but it was time for something new this go around. I'm very blessed and fortunate to have the income that allows for $500/mo. truck payment, but that's my max. I could do more, but it's best to keep it reasonable just in case some crazy life BS happens.

dougmac444 0% is a marketing gimmick. it ends up being something like $12.44 a month. but it's still a world better than standard bank rates right now. Google it if you wish. It was the November Ram end of your promotion. 0% for 75.

you dont need a blind spot mirror if you adjust your side mirrors appropriately, while not towing. Also, if you turn off the MDS and put it in tow mode with traction control off you can really increase the throttle response.

great review. got a few things wrong tho. not all ram 1500 come with coil suspension. there is an option for 4 corner air suspension that you can raise and Lowe the truck. ( I have that on my ram if you would like to do a review. ) also no mention of the ram box option . ( which I also have and live in Houston btw) the fat or projector headlights are not good at all! and I'm almost positive that the rams do not have hill assist like you mentioned.

@chunk4funk
@chunk4funk 7 жыл бұрын
Ben Morris ... the "air bag" option for the 2500HD's & 3500HD's is supplemental to the rear suspension only. It raises the rear & keeps it "level" ... so you don't look like a F-250 hauling 50#'s of steaming b/s while the bumper's scraping along like a low rider. It's all about that C channel box. Believe the brainwashing. They keep saying it. Next tractor pull, dyno-test & 1/8 1/4 mile weekend truck show ... count how many pretty C channel Fords are parked playing gangsta rap. Then count how many RAMS & GM trucks are actually competing. A pig is a pig, doesn't matter how much perfume & makeup you put on her. C channeled aluminum is 10x weaker than boxed steel. No truck in its right mind would C channel its major frame components never mind going into Aluminum (esp Anodized Aluminum). Don't bother arguing metal either, 25yr Union Iron Worker ... that's why I drive the best truck money can buy & drink the champagne of beers. Pardon, to the person making this show ... STOP talking about your truck & comparing it. You drive a 450 / 4500. You only test 1500's to 3500's. Nothing you say about your truck matters or is applicable in your reviews. Unless of course you're willing to go pink slips against my little 3500 SRW RAM MegaCab. My daughter needs a new toy n yer truck is a purty toy truck. Stick to being honest. If you're biased, cool. But be biased with a 350. Or play with a RAM 4500. (You won't)

You missed the SD card reader in the console. You also missed the in-floor storage boxes on both sides in the rear. You also didn't mention the heated rear seats. And dual glove boxes. Also need to mention that 4x4 Lock is NOT full time 4x4. 4x4 Lock works just like 4x4 Auto - only when the truck detects slippage, does it engage the front wheels. And the traction control is handled via braking the slipping tire.

The ONLY thing I really disagree with (just my $0.02 as everyone has different tastes) is the tow mirrors. I have those "car mirrors" and I find them perfect for my driving style (AGAIN, this is me and not the rest of the populous who might drive this vehicle). I have them just so I don't have a massive blind spot. I can see cars coming and as they move out of the view of the mirror, I can already see them next to me out of my windows. On another note, I do not tow with my RAM 1500. It's my daily driver and I would agree that it's comfortable and well equipped (2016 Big Horn package). My father owns a 2016 RAM 2500 with the Cummins and the tow mirrors. This is what we use to tow all the trailers, so the mirror difference is definitely noticed here (and much more appropriate in my opinion). When you look at a ½-ton or ¾-ton truck with the mirrors seen here, I agree that it doesn't seem to be the appropriate set-up for the vehicle. An excellent video that shows great insight and knowledge to reviewed vehicles without any unnecessary bashing or "[INSERT BRAND/MODEL HERE] is better because I own one and it just is".

One question, does the shifter knob have a dummy switch in it to prevent the "wife trying to turn down the radio, and putting it into reverse at 80mph"? Also curious to hear how the coil springs feel when towing near capacity. Solid review to, keep it up.

my dad pulls a 7k bumper pull camper quite often with his 1500. If you didnt look underneath first, when towing you would not really notice a difference suspension wise, with the weight on it acts the same as a leaf setup would. The best part of the coils, is unloaded, it rides like a car as he said. I occasionaly use it to get 2000 lb skids of wood pellets, and that makes it drop down in the rear about 1 1/4", but you wouldnt know the difference driving it loaded or unloaded.

tgh117 Interesting. I would have thought than coil springs would present more rear end body roll when loaded with a trailer or payload compared to a conventional leaf pack set up. My cousin loves her ecodeisel but they only pull a 2,000lb boat with it so no real loaded review there.
@tgh117
@tgh117 7 жыл бұрын
my understanding is that the coils are progressive in nature, so the more load put on them and the further they compress the more they stiffen up. for a half ton truck its very impressive. 7000 lbs behind it, with a proper hitch setup here in the east and extremely stable, and hardly even notice its back there .

it's all electronically controlled. if u try to put it in reverse or park at 80mph it just goes to neutral. it's dummy proof. there's a video of this being done on the highway on KZfaq. it's no different than other shifters these days because they are all electronically controlled even if they "feel" like ur actually putting the vehicle into gear. ur really not... all ur doing is moving a shifter mechanism that is read electronically by the vehicle and uses that electronic signal to put the vehicle into gear.

Sophal Teav Chrysler realized that the people who are buying 1/2 ton trucks are suburbans with office jobs, like me, so they put almost all their money into amenities and ride quality. Plus if you run a business that requires a pickup, I'd rather go with a heavy duty.

I'm not a ram fan, but this truck looks beautiful. the only thing that's sucks is the shifter knob that don't belong to a truck looks so cheap and that truck deserves a better tougher shifter than that shifter kNob but overall looks nice.

@erics9754 7 жыл бұрын
Yeah the shifter knob is a bit weird but after a day or so I got used to it. On the plus side free up room and makes dash visibility better. On the down side seems out of place in a truck a bit feminine.

Rams are nice looking trucks, but quality scares me. But I have also read a lot of bad things about the Ford. I am looking at towing 7 - 8K boat so I would probably have to go with a 3/4 ton even though they don't ride as well.

Cheezy Dee I have a 2016 Ram 1500 lonestar with the hemi. On the steering wheel on the right side is a gear up and down button above the cruise control. You can lock out gears on it by hitting the gear down button and put it at whatever gears you want to use through all 8. And even keep it to first if needed it will hold the gear. It's really a great truck I've had it since the end of September and put 8000 miles on it already.

Incredible value at nearly $60000 with tax? It doesn't have blind spot detection, A Diesel engine, heated cooled or massage seats, heated mirrors, heated steering wheel, power running boards, Power tailgate, Advanced safety features like Lane departure warning or active lane assist or any kind of driving assist. Far from luxury imo. These things depreciate like hell. I had a coworker who bought one and they became underwater in there loan.
