I saw this live in the arena. The entire audience screamed. We couldn't help it. What kind of coach lets her athlete continue after this? The poor, sweet girl gave everyone a heart with her hands before walking out of the arena. We were all shocked to see her return.

I really wish she would’ve left MG elite/Maggie sooner. I know she was probably terrified to do so, but she had so much potential

So scary! She missed her right foot on the first element of the dismount, then went wonky and missed her left foot in the second element. Very reminiscent of Vanessa Atler's beam dismount miss at the 2000 Olympic trials.

Thank goodness she was banned from the sport for a while- after reading what Laurie went through. These girls deserve better. Is she still doing elite or did she retire?

She should have been taken directly to an xray machine . I truly believe Haney is mentally ill. Maybe evil . She literally abused little girls with big dreams that would do anything to please her . That is sick. Did you guys read the story of her and Victoria laughing at a girl having a seizure because of a fall if uneven bars ??

The wolf turn should be banned. Nobody makes it look good with their arms flailing all over. Look at the hand and arm positions of figure skaters doing sit spins. If you can’t do it that way, don’t do it.

I'm not a fan of wolf turns and I wish they'd get downgraded. BUT, there are gymnasts who do them beautifully. In fact, Riley does a double wolf turn in her beam routine at Florida now, and it's gorgeous.

@@brynneholt1990How exactly? They don’t abuse athletes and bring awareness to it. They provide great coverage for ice skating and gymnastics. I much prefer watching Dave report it than Jessica from Gymcastic.

@@AuroraR can't see the comment you replied to, but I have to say TSL is very problematic. I still watch it, they are quite enjoyable, but you have to realize Dave is problematic. He presents gossip as facts a lot of the time, spreading rumors that turn out to be false a lot of the time. Sometimes that happens when young teens are involved and I'm not talking about the Russians, bringing awareness to that abuse and corruption is right, I'm talking about Alysa Liu and Isabeau Levito. They also have takes and opinions they present as facts that are absolutely baseless and completely the result of their bias, which of course they have, they are human, but then you don't say "Yuzu doesn't have the best ss" when he literally has some of the most intricate programs in terms of footwork ever. Anyways, as I said I still watch them, because their insights sometimes are actually very interesting and the rumors turn out to be true, but they are far from perfect.

@@ariannabinaghi5222I never said they were perfect. However I don’t it’s think it’s fair to say Dave is just as bad if not worse than Maggie Haney. Which is what the comment above said about TSL.

Confused. Did you all want Maggie to jump up there carry her like a baby? She was right there along with the trainer. No one went up at that moment. That moment was only seconds before Riley stood up. They knew she wasn’t horribly hurt as she had already sat up and was regaining her composure. Stop making the coaches evil and the gymnasts gods. It’s a time and every coach, trainer, judge was watching and making the call of action. Coaches and gymnasts are a team or should be. Not self entitled brats that always want to blame someone else for their issues. Why is it that gymnast prior to 2000 had little issues and now since 2008 almost every high level gymnast has someone else to blame for their issues.

If you were educated on the sport you would know that this coach is so abusive that she was reported by multiple gymnasts, and actually banned for years. Also gymnasts were basically threatened into silence and submission, and when they did speak up about abuse they were ignored and punished. Maybe try not blaming the mostly children and young women of the sport, and try holding adults accountable for once. Weirdo.

The Gymnasts aren't "gods" but they are GIRLS and often VICTIMS and you ma'am sound like a hit dog hollering. If you don't know the context keep quiet. Everybody else here knows the allegations that were brought SUCCESSFULLY against this coach and it would do you some good to hit the googles before writing paragraphs that devolve into victim blaming. First of all, do your homework Maggie Haney is literally banned from coaching because she's verbally and physically abusive to her athletes. Second of all, athletes before the 2000 had issues with coaches, most of them are young girls when they first meet their coaches, and then end up spending more time with their coaches than their parents, this sport has obedience at the center and a culture of silence and abuse came as a result of negligence from the governing body. So many of the elite gymnasts from before 2000 has spoken out about the abuse culture that has existed in gymnastics. Grow up and get some perspective

This is the type of error that could have literally killed her. This was a middle school aged child having a seriously scary crash in front of a huge live crowd, and a gigantic remote audience and that will be around digitally forever. There is nothing funny about it, and nothing that should be joked about or encouraged. There is a huge difference between a comical error or move where no one can be seriously hurt, and joking about a child making a really dangerous error that could have very easily caused catastrophic injuries and even death.
