SEAT’s kind of on a roll at the moment, spurred on by the successes of cars like the new Ateca SUV and also by customer favourites like the Leon hatchback, which was the latest model in the range to get an update.
You’ll probably have already watched Rich’s range review of the new Leon, and so you’ll know that the upgrades include choice tweaks like new bumpers, all-round LED lights and a few interior updates plus the addition of the all-new XCELLENCE trim.
The idea is to retain the Leon’s handsome, sharp looks and sporting-esque demeanour while making it just a bit more up-to-date and just a bit more competitive with best-in-class cars that would have once seemed a step above it.

Just bought a 2014 leon fr 184bhp. Great car with plenty of power and economy.nice comfortable seats and great handling.

Shiv M really pleased with this car.handles really well.plenty of power when overtaking and very economical for a 2 litre.a little bit hard over potholes in sport mode but other than that a great car

@@CarKeysUKOfficial I like the enter lever FR sears. The alcantara options are nice, but the full leather isn't. But I'm not a fan of full leather (fake or real). I think the entry FR seats are good enough to not opt for the alcantara ones. I didn't. Mainly because the entry seats are very similar to the seats I'm my GTC Sri and I like them, only rwl difference is the stitching is red instead of white. And there is lumber support (something I over looked in the gtc, though LS was standard across all cars).

If you're buying second hand then definitely get a Cupra. For the relatively small increase in second hand price you get a significantly better car.

Personally prefer the fr modal but the leon is a great car

Had my 2.0 tsi Xcellence lux for a week now and I love it. Beautiful inside and out and goes like shit off a shovel.

Did you drive an fr before buying? If so how did they compare? Are the Xcellence models still quite a sporty drive? Thanks

@@Maurice_Moss I didn't try the fr i'm afraid. I actually went to look at an Ateca and ended up with this because the deal offered was amazing. Had it for over two years now and it wasn't missed a beat. You can change the suspension and gearbox settings, and can choose between comfort, normal or sport for the ride and standard and sports for the gearbox. Tbh it's fast enough in standard. The only thing the FR had that this doesn't is the flappy paddle gearbox, but you can still change manually using the gear selector. Alsp getting 50+ mpg at 70mph on the motorway and can still get 40+ at about 85mph. Not that I ever break the speed limit you understand......

Great car and review. Not sure whether to get a 15 plate 2nd hand one or a new one as they look pretty identical. Is the infotainment that much better in the updated version?

andy thomas the old infotainment system had another knob on the right of the screen that allows you to zoom in and out of the map really easy. something that they have removed in favour of the pinching style screen which is no doubt annoying and hard to do on the move

We do think this system is better overall however we took this down to the Cotswolds over the weekend and found the lack of a 'zoom nob' very frustrating

i'm looking for a new car and honestly i can't decide between Opel Astra, Mazda 3 and Leon :( i also tested Skoda rapid, 308 and ceed. any suggestion?

I'm kind of in the same position, I guess it depends on the need of the individual. I actually love the Mazda 3, but realistically the Leon will be more practical. Skoda Rapid is also tempting...

I've just ordered the 18 (possible 19 don't ask) Leon ST FR 1.8 180bhp (maybe we 2l 190bhp again don't ask) I have to wait and see. I don't mind which. 3 months into a 5 moth lead time. Can't wait.... Oh yeas 7 speed DSG. I like the the 2 door coupe and the 4 door estate, but the 4 door hatch I really don't like at all.

Frustrating that many car reviews, like yours,are still pushing diesel engines knowing full well the current attitude towards diesel emissions and future increasing tax of diesel vehicles. Yes this vehicle comes in a range of petrol engines so why not review a petrol engine? A realistic size like 1.5 or 1.8 we already know how economic a 1.0 is.

Allways moaning about the plastics. I start to think that soft plastics are the Viagra for car journalists. And a front wheel drive car with a transmission tunnel? Terrible! It's better trying to be less funny and instead check your facts. Anyway, this video is not a review, it's a guy driving a car and telling what versions are available. Poor journalism!
