It seems that Calvary Bible Church believes in being saved by Faith alone and without the Sacraments of the Catholic Church. I am not sure how CBC can read the Bible and arrive at that conclusion. If the Catholic Church is not the One, True Church, then where does CBC say that we can find this Church. Does CBC claim that they are the One, True Church? I would hope that someone from CBC would be willing to share with me in this forum exactly how a person is to be saved in accordance with the Bible. Because I believe that the Sacraments are needed for Salvation. If there is another Biblical way, then please share that with me.

AllThings, those are some good and honest questions about Catholicism and they deserve answers. Here goes: 1. My understanding of the Church's teaching is that yes, Jesus made His mother omnipresent once she got to Heaven. The other saints become spiritually present if we pray to them but Mary is, by the grace of God, omnipresent. 2. Mary can indeed listen individually and simultaneously to all prayers directed to her, but only because God gave her that power. 3. Those who consecrate themselves to Mary will be saved. (We never say anybody is already saved in this life.) But a soul who was consecrated to Mary who utterly ignored Jesus, who never went to Mass or Communion, both of which are all about Jesus and His sacrifice, would not be truly consecrated to Mary. Devotion to Mary always leads to devotion to Jesus----if it does not the devotion isn't genuine. And ALL of them---and I do mean literally all of them I have ever known---also who have great love for Jesus her Son. 4. Mary had an immaculate conception, not a virginal conception. Her parents, Joachim and Anne, had normal sexual relations and conceived their daughter Mary. The "immaculate conception" part means she was preserved from all stain and consequence of original sin. The reason we children of Adam and Eve sin so much is that we have been spiritually weakened by original sin. Mary did not have this weakness and as a result never ever sinned. This was not due to her own power or cleverness; this was purely a gift of God. 5. Yes, Catholics are allowed, and encouraged by the Church to pray directly to the Father, or to Jesus, or to the Holy Spirit. The Mass is actually one long prayer to God the Father. 6. In 1950 Pope Pius XII defined the doctrine of Mary's assumption as a way to emphasize it. Popes cannot teach new doctrine, they can only uphold what has always been taught in the Church.

@@hamidrabiipour9707 I am not claiming but am a NT Greek Bible translator, rendering it in English. I also translate ancient manuscripts for an online translator service, such as Coptic Greek. I do not regard myself as more knowledgeable than those who have translated the NIV or NASB, but I have found errors therein. Perhaps my native Lithuanian helps me to grasp the inflected language. I think God has bestowed upon me the gift of hearing the Greek grammar, which often communicates as much as the lexals. The syntax is often ignored. If someone took the NKJV and separated each impefect tense verb from the perfect, doing so would greatly improve the translation. The sacrifice of theological meaning due to smoothing text for better readability is not short of shameful. For instance, you read, "They asked Jesus..." If the verb is imperfect and iterative, then the rendering should be "They were asking Jesus...". The fact they asked repeatedly may contain important meaning in the context. My background includes teaching in a seminary. In my classes have been a number of clergy, including Catholic priests who, like Luther, placed truth above religion. Why do you ask?

But there is much that you can do to exegete Scripture in English. Bible hub offers an interlinear Bible with references to some study tools, so you do not need to learn koine Greek. Although the English part of the interlinear text itself is occasionally faulty, you can perform a quick word study by looking up the integrated Thayer's lexicon. It helps to know a little grammar as that spares you from much conjecture. The faithful Christian will afford time for Jesus' teaching as right theology draws us closer to Him. The Lord's prayer is a good place to start. God tempts no one, so why pray "and lead us not into temptation"? A simple word study to learn what the term meant in the time it was written will end the practice of praying the prayer erratically.

To be fair though, I’m sure that he was part of the old school Catholics who were not biblically sound. Theology was left to the theologians and not always shared with the faithful. Thank the Lord that has changed. He doesn’t do well in debates. All he does is repeat scripture verse after scripture verse and fails to recognize that the person he is debating is biblically sound and knows the scriptures at least as well as he does. I too believed this when I was a part of the Catholic Church. But once I started reading and studying the Bible, I came to realize the Catholic Church is one of many false religions. This is not to say there aren’t any Catholics who will go to heaven for only God knows every man and woman’s heart. But the fact is the Catholic Church adds to the Bible, in the literal sense by adding non-canonical books, and by enforcing their catechism as sound doctrine. The pope claims to be the vicar of Christ which is heretical. Dear friend, the Bible is sufficient and inherent and there is no need for anything additional save biblical study courses on the historical context, intended audiences, literary devices used, etc. praying is key as well as the Holy Spirit will help in understanding and discernment as you read. This is taught in 1 Corinthians 3:15 and Revelation 21:27. Are you telling me you don't ask others to pray for you? Why not ask Mary to pray for you? She has eternal life (John 3:16) in Heaven and can pray for us. We know the saints in Heaven deliver our prayers to God (Revelation 5:8). Scripture tells us to ask others to pray for us (1 Timothy 2:1). Catholics don't believe the mass changes bread and wine into the body and blood of Christ; however, we do believe what Jesus says in John 6 and what Paul says in 1 Corinthians 11:27, that it is his body. Again, when it comes to confession, we follow scripture and in John 20:21, Jesus empowers his apostles to forgive sins and since the Catholic Church can trace its roots to the apostles, a priest can fill that role. We do not believe the priest forgives since, only Jesus does that, but the priest can hear the confession in accordance with John 20:21. Why don't you follow scripture? Nothing you cited is man made. Not following scripture is a very sad reality of protestantism.
