A: The M5 starts at $104,595, including destination and gas-guzzler tax, while the E63 begins at $105,395, including destination. (It does not get a gas-guzzler tax.) The BMW came outfitted with 20-inch wheels and the Executive package, which added amenities such as ventilated and massaging seats. Its as-tested price was $129,795. Edmunds Inside line was making the best car videos on KZfaq before Motor trend went big. Then they shut down the channel due to some stupid corporate merger or something. It's good to see them producing quality content for car enthusiasts once again, albeit on a different channel, in a different format and with a completely different team of people.

good review. but something was left out,the capacity of both cars,the E63s is a 4.0l and the M5 4.4l. that means their power delivery, despite power and torque ratings mean their delivery is slightly different in certain parts of the rev range. another thing ive noticed is that(watched a ton of reviews between the two(coming to the comp M5,not there yet!!!),it is literally 50/50 as far as drags are concerned,half of the reviews show the E63 quicker than the M5,the other half,vice verse. after all ive watched,id say it was a tie(including illegal races). the comp M5,yes it is quicker in almost every vid ive seen,bar three(more where the comp takes it). yipee for BMW fans. drive: most reviews say the same thing,M5 better for comfortable daily driving,BUT,when it comes to emotional driving,most have said that the E63s,is more fun,steering more precise and most importantly,the engine noise from the engine inside the car(and outside) is pure engine. no fake channeled engine sounds via speakers or whatever they add to make it sound real inside the car. that is when i lost respect for BMW,the " ultimate drivers car" is now an ultimate farce!!!! if you a true BMW FAN,IM SURE YOU WOULD AGREE..... i am an AMG fan,BUT(PLEASE READ THIS) BUT LOVE THE BMW TOO. BOTH ARE GREAT CARS,MAKE NO MISTAKE!!!! where BMW beats the Benz,in one area,it looses in another and vice verse,FACT. what we can be greatfull of is that these cars exist,before the full or more hybrid era takes over. hope you all can see this is a fully unbiased opinion from an AMG NUTTER!!!!! AMG for life! That guy complained about E63S being less comfortable.. well those are Recaro sport seats, they are well known for not being comfortable. The luxury, the brand imagine, handcrafted Engine, AMG.

So what? he didn't complain the car was less comfortable, he noted a fact (trepeated by most road testers) and the fact that AMG put less comfortable seats in the car is their choice. You can't excuse it. The brand and the image? Yeah when it comes to super saloons the BMW M5 defines the brand and imagemin this segment, not AMG. All that said, both cars are incredible, and I'd be happy to have either or both parked in my garage if I could afford one. 99.9999% of whingers claiming pone is better than the other won't even sit in either car, let alone own or drive one. I have sat in a new M5 and it's fantastic. I just wish I could have driven it :)

Let's not make any mistake, this M5 in particular is a tad better than the Benz save for the sound track from Benz, other than that, the BMW is the better car, Benz had the option of not making the recaro seats, but because they were hell bound to make the car less porky, they opted for these seats, so it's no excuse, they developed a harsh ride to minimise body roll, it's no excuse, they need to take lessons from Munich, let's swallow our pride and give praise where it is due, this M5 has toppled the Benz in all aspects except the sound track, PERIOD

In my Audi, simply put it in Dynamic mode, turn off traction control, and you can launch it.

Its not as complicated as they always make it seem. Also when you actually own the car you'll barely ever use the function. Hence from a UX perspective it's behind a few layers.

I just cannot make up my mind about these two. I think I just about prefer the interior of the Merc, and the sound too. They are basically the same speed, so that’s not an issue. The hifi upgrade too - is INSANE. I’ve heard that, it sounds unreal. But the ride comfort and the looks of the Beemer are factors to consider too. And the fact that Mercedes do an estate - or wagon - might tip the balance too. Probably would ultimately go for the Mercedes. Fortunately I’ll never have the money to buy either, so my problem’s sorted for me. 😂

These two cars are so equally matched. It's always a toss up. However, I have seen more wins for the M5. If the AMG lost some weight it would come out on top, but any sedan hitting 2.9 zero-60 and 11 flat for 1/4 mile is wicked fast. I'd chose the mighty E63 S 4Matic+ over the M5 any day

I think these cars are so close its more down to the buyers taste more then anything, yes the M is better built, faster, and maybe faster on track, but the diffrence is so small so I think its taste of the buyer this time

E63 AMG was launched almost an year before the new M5 with 600hp, AWD and a drift mode. It took a few months for the BMW to catch upto R&D of the AMG. So it doesn't matter M5 being fraction of a second faster than AMG. Current gen E63 is the best selling allround super sedan that mercedes have ever produced. (maybe the F10 M5 was better than E63)
