It depends on how hot it got.If you are going to change the oil and the engine is hot you can still put it on ramps or if you have a 4 wheel drive and don't need ramps you can get under the vehicle and put your bare hand on the oil pan or oil filterto see how hot it is.Its good to drain It when it's still warm but not hot enough to burn your hands.You should also wear mechanics gloves or those latex gloves.Used oil is bad for your skin.I usually don't wear gloves but it is better if you do.But most importantly be safe.Be sure if you use ramps that the vehicle is on them on level ground and is sturdy and apply the emergency brake and never rely on a jack because any work you do on a vehicle is not worth getting hurt for.Thanks for watching and commenting we really appreciate it.

Well I change mine everytime but it is really up to you. If you are changing the oil often like I do you could go every other oil change but if you are going by the oil monitor in the vehicle then that is a long oil change interval so then you would want to change the oil filter also. I change my oil every 5000 km which is about 3200 miles which is a little expensive but to lower that cost I recently changed to Costco brand oil which is called Kirkland full synthetic 5W 30 which has cut the cost of my oil change in half.

Yeah it can be a pain to change the oil filter on these trucks.

The 0W doesn't affect the oils ability as a 30 weight oil.Example a 10w30 will be a little thicker when it is cold (very cold temperatures) than a 0w30 but when hot they both be 30.Meaning when hot the 0w30 will be just as thick as the 10w30.And I like to pick an oil and stick with it for every oil change instead of using different oil brands every oil change although I am not convinced changing oil brands will hurt anything.Don't know if I explained that very well but the point I am trying to make is there is no difference between the 0w30 and 10w30 in the summer time.

@@LSxMotorsports2021 i get your reasoning now. I live in a climate where it's - 45 Celsius, so that's the only time I've changed to 0w30 in the Colorado. But maybe I'll keep it at that in the summer now.

It's an easy mistake to make.These numbers are confusing the way they rate them.But yes you'll be fine running the 0w30 year round.I even run it in my Camaro that's on this channel and I definitely wouldn't run it if there was a difference or a chance of doing damage.Thanks for watching and commenting we really appreciate hearing from the people watching our videos.

On this truck it is on the steering wheel.You just have to use the button to scrolll through the menus till you get to oil life and hit reset.I think I show how to do it in a more rescent video on the channel.

I should have for the video.But I just inspect it and if it looks good I reuse it.The reason is because I have witnessed someone change one and got it on wrong and it leaked oil everywhere.They got me to come see what was wrong and the seal was not on correct but it wasn't off by much.Every since then I don't change them if they look good and have never had a problem.But I agree I should have changed it for the video.But i am stubborn and set in my ways I guess.
