I can only tell you what friends that own them (Multis, not necessarily the Enduro Pro) and the local shop has told me. Aside from has electrical gremlins, more those with the Fobs, the bikes have held up very well long term as long as the maintenance schedule is followed.

You are spot on about the engine, by nature we want the bigger engine. Guess its Ducati's way of getting rid of the stock of 1200 engines. Biding my time till Christmas when I have to make the hard decision of which bike to buy. Either the MS, MSA Pro, or KTM SA S for me. What a great problem to have I suppose lol

Great revue, there is an electronic tank lock available in the accessory catalog. A message should pop up when your key fob battery is low, my factory one lasted two years and the 2052 is replaced fairly easily.

Great review as usual! I agree with 100% of your review. Did you notice that front suspension while in the twisties. I noticed that is was very bouncy and a little off putting in sport mode. Probably fantastic off-road though, the travel being exactly for that purpose. Keep it up brotha!
@2WR
@2WR 6 жыл бұрын
I found the front suspension to be compliant and predictable cornering but there will be more dive with it than the regular Multi or other sport touring bikes due to the longer travel. I suppose I'm just used to it by now having ridden so many different adventure bikes. But you're right, the added travel is welcomed off road.

what's the real bottom line on the mpg. With a 30 liter tank it's really enticing as a tourer. Do you think this would make sense or a waste of money?

Hello, pretty good review! Only thing I would like to address, it's your problem with the windscreen. The screen is small with a purpose. On the original MTS the screen is big as the bike was built for touring so the wind screen provides maximum wind protection. On the enduro the screen is small as you have to be able to move around on the bike (a lot) for off road control. With the original screen that would be impossible. .... english is 2nd language sorry for....
@2WR
@2WR 6 жыл бұрын
No need to apologize for English as it's still better than most native speakers. I did concede that reasoning behind the smaller screen but if I were buying the bike, I'd be putting a larger on one.

Best Multi review I’ve seen on the Utube. A great practical review that explains the specifics of the bike. One question, how would the regular Enduro compare with my 2014 Multistrada GT?
@2WR
@2WR 5 жыл бұрын
There are quite a few differences between the two. To start, the Enduro's steering isn't quite as quick due to the larger front wheel. The Enduro also has the updated TFT display compared to the LCD on the 14 model. On the street the suspension of the Enduro is a tad softer but much better off-road since it has more travel. It also has the off-road ride mode and cruise control. One's not necessarily better than the other but the Enduro model does have a few additional "niceties" the 14 GT doesn't have plus better off-road capabilities. If you're not really planning to go off-road tho, I'd probably stick with the GT.

That is arguably the best, most concise review I have yet to find on KZfaq or any other website, so thank you very much. As are some of the other riders here, I am down to choosing my next bike to be either a GSA or Enduro Pro. I recently rented a regular BMW GS for the day and rode it in the cool NorCal costal air and then back to Sacramento where it got up to 109 degrees (yes. 109 degrees). There was almost no engine heat from the BMW during the entire 400 mile ride. I haven't test ridden the Ducati yet. Is there any engine heat that you noticed during your evaluation of this bike?
@2WR
@2WR 6 жыл бұрын
First, thank you; I appreciate it. As for engine heat, none that I noticed. Please keep in mind though that 90+% of the time I wear riding pants when riding so they do a better job of shielding your legs from engine heat than a pair of jeans. I've ridden some Ducatis (Monster 821, Hyper 939) that put off a bit of engine heat but I've never noticed it from any of the Multi lineup.

2 Wheeled Rider I just did a 2-Up back-to-back test ride of the BMW R1200GS Adventure vs Ducati Enduro Pro in 90 degree Sacramento heat (29% humidity) and the Ducati had noticeably more engine heat than the BMW... Still a great bike, tho.

Hey, great review on this beast of a bike.. Just wanted to chip in on one point.. You mentioned the ride height and how it feels like your sitting on a saddle rather than in a motorbike seat.. Well, I ride the 1200 Multistrada GT with the default seat (as I'm a mere 191 cm tall) and I find that the riding position gives great visibility in traffic. I absolutely love how much I can see whislt riding and I imagine that the anti-lift features really counter the effects of riding high in certain suspension modes. Other than this observation, I have no comments, other than I really like your reviews. Keep up the good work dude.

Thank you for the excellent review. In your opinion how does this bike stack up against the KTM 1290 Super Adventure R? I'm in the market and have narrowed my search down to these two machines. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. P.S. I'm looking to use the bike as my do it all machine. Lots of highway miles/daily commuting with gravel and off-road when I can.
@2WR
@2WR 6 жыл бұрын
Too different to really compare, in my opinion. The SA R is much more off road oriented with a 21/18 wheel combo. It also has nearly an inch more suspension travel. It's lacking the electronically adjustable semi-active suspension as well. If you're doing highway miles/daily commuting with light off road use the Enduro Pro is likely the better candidate. If you want a KTM, I'd look into the SA S but I haven't ridden one yet so I don't have any direct experience with that specific model. I think the most direct comparison in the KTM line up to the Enduro Pro is the 2015-2017 1290 Super Adventure (T model in 2017) but it's not available in the 2018 line up. I still prefer my KTM but I could see how other riders would like the Ducati as it's a great bike too.

I heard that KTM should come back with a Super Adventure T (whatever the name would be, but with a 30L tank) in 2019, but BMW should present for the end of this year a GS with 1260cc and maybe 150hp

iam sure they make the hand crash guards stronger than the stock plastic, i changed mine out on my hypermotard, just be prepared they were $500 but well worth it. No more floppy hand guards
@2WR
@2WR 6 жыл бұрын
They do and I get they are trying to meet a certain price point. The plastic hand guards don't bother me as much as having the turn signals integrated which I see as a point of failure on an adventure bike. All bikes have some minor annoyances. Fortunately the aftermarket will allow us to customize our bikes the way we see fit.

Well done man! Badass bike.....was concerned about a 60/40 tire and how they handle street duty.....were they noisy or viby at highway speeds? Great review!
@2WR
@2WR 6 жыл бұрын
Bryan, thank you. As for the tires, I didn't find them to be noisy or have any more vibration at speed. The only thing I did notice is when you get it leaned over at more aggressive angles, you'll start to feel a little movement. It's tough to explain but the tire won't feel quite as planted as a true street tire and they'll "dance" ever-so-slighty.

You said you weren’t crazy about the 2016 enduro model anything in particular? There are still new ones available and I’m considering one.
@2WR
@2WR 6 жыл бұрын
Mike, that's a fair question and to be honest, my reasons for not liking it as much are pretty subjective because on paper the two bikes are exactly the same, minus some bolt ons. I felt like the original Enduro was missing some things to make it truly off-road ready such as a more aggressive set of tires and crash bars. The Enduro Pro added those and a few more bits such as the aux lights (which are awesome), the scratch resistant finish and the Termignoni exhaust. While beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I personally like the look of the Enduro Pro much more than the Enduro model. For some reason, the Enduro Pro just seemed like a more complete bike while riding it (again, I know it's technically no different than the Enduro but it seemed to work better in more situations). With the stock Scorpion Trail 2 tires on the Enduro (you can get the Scorpion Rally tires with the Touring pack) aren't nearly as good off-road as the Scorpion Rallys on the Enduro Pro. With the price point being a difference of about $1,800 by the time you upgrade the tires, add crash bars, and aux lights to the Enduro you're up to the price of the Enduro Pro but no Termignoni exhaust. Anyway, that's my take on it. Hope that helps.

I have a question please, this year I decide to buy one but now I cant choose Ducati or GSA I actually did a lot of homework between these two only thing I feel not okay with the Duc is chain final drive, I do like Duc more than GSA but the GS got shaft drive and the question is in your opinion which one would you prefer ? I know it's boring question but it is very important for Adventure bike
@2WR
@2WR 6 жыл бұрын
I switched from shaft to chain when I bought my KTM. With modern chains, it's likely you'll need little to no adjustments between tire changes. I've spent very little time maintaining mine and it's holding up great with 18,000 miles on it. It's true with shaft drive all you need to do is change the final drive oil every (depends on the bike) 9,000 miles or so. Shaft drive does add more weight to the bike and rob more hp to the rear wheel tho. The other thing to consider is you can always carry a spare chain or find one at any motorcycle dealer if one were to break on you. If your shaft drive fails in the middle of a trip, there's no fixing it on the side of the road.
@pbdiary6640
@pbdiary6640 6 жыл бұрын
Ahh I see I never though shaft drive broken before you make me consider the other side I better carry spare chain in my pannier, thank you for your answer and thank you for the reviews

The dirt road you rode on is probably what the majority of us that have this type of bike will be riding on. It seemed like a really nice bike but I'm not sure about those rims sticking out past the tire like that. Seems like it would be a little more prone to damage if you run your rear tire along a rock and of course there's the price. None of these styles of bikes are cheap but it makes the KTM 1290 SAR seem like a real bargain.
@2WR
@2WR 5 жыл бұрын
It's a similar design to what Yamaha and I believe BMW use. The KTM uses a more traditional spoke rim with a large rubber seal on the inside. I believe they are supposed to be replaced every 5 years. I don't remember the exact price but I want to say a pair can be had for under $100.

@CanonMatters2Me
@CanonMatters2Me 6 жыл бұрын
Jose Angel Aguinaga Having drove the 950, you should only have mag wheels. They are lighter for the sport tourer, so they turn better on pavement. You really only want the spoked rims on the off-road specific bikes. If you choose to make the 950 more off-road legit, I suggest a KTM 690 Enduro, dirt bike, or other similar bikes for that segment. The 950 to me shouldn’t be off-road at all, other than some dry fire/gravel roads that are great with mag wheels. Just my opinion of course. Ride safe!

Jolly Green Biker Well, for normal roads, cast wheels must be nice, but down here in Mexico, roads are not so pretty, there are pot holes everywhere, a friend has a multi enduro and already bent a wheel, if it where cast, I’m 100% sure it would have cracked and the spoked wheel was just repaired and good as new, so that’s why im interested, I’ve been waiting since October for the 950 spoked, as an add on is very expensive, like 2k bucks, and the spoked version is like 800 bucks more, that’s a good deal in my books. Also, I’m not planning on go full off road, it will mostly be daily commuter and weekend rides with the wife.
@CanonMatters2Me
@CanonMatters2Me 6 жыл бұрын
Now I understand. Definitely would have busted the mags. Many tires also play better with spoked rims too, mags are not always perfectly round, so bead issuae occur. Good luck if you have to spend 2K on the option, your a better man than me. Good thing my 1290 comes with them already. 👍🏻 Ride safe.

Apples and Oranges. Spoke wheels v cast wheels. 8 gallon tank v 6.1 gallon tank etc etc. The Enduro Pro was made to compete with the SA-T which is no longer in KTMs line up for 2018. The 1290 S is more of a sport tourer and a more direct comparison would be to that of the regular Multistrada line up.
