Thanks, worked like a charm on my 2018 Lariat. I didn't totally disconnect the two plastic panels, I left all the wiring attached to both. I was able to slip the brake module in with no problem. Never would have been able to do this with out your VID.

For those who do not have the 30 amp fuse my 2018 STX did not even though the truck came from factory with basic to package. 30 fuses were installed in fuse panel for passenger and driver power seats which my truck does not have, I moved 30a fuse from front driver seat #21 position to the trailer brake #24 position and everything works now. No additional wiring needed.

Kenny, great video! This video really helped me install the brake controller in my 2019 F-150. Thanks to your reference of how to use ForScan and the fuse, I was able to successfully install the brake controller. After getting the brake controller installed I had to request a 2 month trial license for ForScan. It took several hours for my ForScan account to be activated to then generate the trial license. I got the truck’s computer to enable the trailer brake controller. Then I got a trailer brake fault on the dash. Thanks to your video on checking the fuses...I found my issue. No fuse in #24. Thank you so much for your content! This saved me hours of frustration!

You gave me a scare when you said that not all the trucks came pre wired for this. I immediately paused the video and went out and looked at my fuse box. I discovered that mine didn’t have a fuse in that spot, so that scared me even more since I already bought everything. I ran to grab my tools and tore apart the dash panels pretty quick and luckily the wiring was there. I just have to find that fuse, and since it’s not a common fuse I guess I will have to get it from the dealer. If my truck has the wiring then all of them have it, mine is a 2019 regular cab short bed xl with a 3.3 L v6 and 3.55 gears, so not really made for towing much.

I went though made enabled the modules. But it wont let me change the gain. Do I need to go into the IPC AS BUILT format and make changes to the values because mine are totally different then yours.

@Kenneth Toney, I also have a 2018 F150 XLT Sport 5.0L. I bought a break controller on eBay hooked my up and did the forescan enabled both and got the gains settings, but after I did that it disabled my drive modes ( sport, eco, tow,etc..) did urs happen to have that problem, or anyone else out there.? I’ve even disabled it and left it plugged in and it still disabled the drive modes but I unhook it from the harness and back to normal.? Is there another setting I might need to change.?

Which version of forscan

Trailer brakes work dong this on my 2018 F150 but I have no 12v charge power on the 7-way trailer connector. Did you get yours to work? If so; can you tell me how, i think it is a Forscan change of some sort.

What program did you add to your MacBook to make it compatible?

I bought my truck used a couple months ago. I installed the oem trailer connector for and the fuses are all in place. Where did you go to get software to reprogram the trailer settings. Thanks

Could have shortened the video a lot by not including all the unrelated upgrades to your truck! It's about a trailer brake controller install - not tires, rims & lift kits.
