Күн бұрынInstallation of the OEM Ford Trailer Brake Controller in a 2018 Ford F150 with a center console. Column shift installation is the same without the extra steps of removing the console trim panels.
I don't recommend buying an Amazon OEM knock-off brake controller part, buy it from a Ford Dealer so you get the real thing!
I'm not affiliated with @ricardosworkshop KZfaq but if you need help with learning how to set up Forscan he has some really good videos you can check out.

I just did mine yesterday and I used the OE controller. One thing I noticed on most videos was them removing the under dash pad panel and knee brace to have access to the trailer connector. You do not need to remove that because once you remove that coin tray the brake controller is connector is connected to it. It took me about 10 minutes to install the brake controller. I then used the Forscan tool to reprogram the module.

Good video. One advice to everyone, don't get the cheap one from Amazon. Get the OEM one just like this guy did.

I bought the amazon one. Having issues i only turned on the first 2 on forscan and left the trailer brake controll module disable at the bottom. The brakes with work if i pull the tester but they do not apply with my breaks and it still says trailer disconnected

Why do you need to activate the TBC with forscan? Wouldn't the truck see it once it's plugged in? It did on my father's 2012 f150.

The control module has to be told it's installed. It's not like a computer that may recognize new hardware added. Extra step but forscan makes it easy. There is also a lot of free things you can activate. My favorite was adding the auto folding mirrors when locking and unlocking the truck. Aka Lincoln Mirrors. Note that my truck has power folding mirrors.

Ford telling me I need an accessory kit along with the brake controller I’ve got a 2018 F150 5.0? The brake controller is like $150 and the accessory kit is also around $130 do I need this accessory kit?

@@kenwilson2314 I ordered from Tascaparts.com Ford Store, I just looked it up and ordered it but you could talk to them to be sure the 5.0 doesnt need anything special. I have found them to be helpful.

i bought the one on amazon ELM 327. When i click the IPC module config its says i need an extended license for this function?? anyone have this issue?
