The Ford Ranger Wildtrak is the one everybody wants, but has always been tough for many to swallow because of the road tax of its 3.2-litre engine. Now, the more aggressive appearance can finally be had in conjunction with the more palatable 2.2-litre engine!

From the cars I tested, Ranger is more comfortable, although on paper you'd actually expect the Navara to do better because it has rear coil springs.

Kon Wai Luen thanks for the reply. Yeah from paper the multi link suspension seems more promising. But if drive in highway ranger won’t feel more bumpy compared to Navara? Btw I like how u guys at aurizon works! Not reading paper specs but more on how u guys feel about those cars! Keep it up!

Keyless entry is shit... I had it in cars before and the batteries of the keys were empty after some month. I was standing on the gas station and wasn't able to start my car because the battery of the key was empty and the emergency start Funktion wasn't working. At the gas station I could buy new batteries, but in the middle of nowhere...

Went to test drive last week. The gear changing is very slow, when I did full throttle the response is disappointing, it takes forever to reach 100kmh. The sales person claimed that the engine isn't warm enough, and it takes time for the air to go in then turbo can work better. Got such thing ah??? On the same day, i tested Navara VL amd Triton. Both of them are much much powerful than this Ranger 2.2. But i have to say, Ranger Wildtrack interior is very very refined.

Hahahaha... got. That such thing is called turbo lag. Remember that the Ranger's engine is making up for a 300cc short fall in displacement, which can be mitigated by raising boost levels and hence the lag in response. For most people, the Ranger 2.2 is okay and attractive because of its lesser road tax. But for the really fussy driver, the 3.2 makes a difference.

Ford ranger 2.2 seems ok for me..if 3.2 it will blow away the speed of triton and navara...ford ranger all the way...

so sad la...buy 3.2 wildtrak 5 month after then come out 2.2 wildtrak with same spec but only pay rm600 for the roadtax...

Feel your feeling, one of the managers is using the 2.2, compare it against the neighbor company manager that use a 3.2, there is not much difference unless you are stuck in a really difficult situation

The big question mark in my mind is durability considering the high boost levels they must have applied to the engine to generate those outputs.

am sure if it is designed for it durability should not be an issue, luckily for this region emission is not so much of a concern or we would have to include that adblue crap..

Mentioned this before, but again, the most difficult thing with videos is editing. I want to support local reviews but you just put out these videos with no proper editing. Watch Kelley blue book videos for how they edit and give you 10 times more information in 3 minutes than you do in 20 minutes. This video, 3 minutes just walking around the car, then it comes to showing the dynamic speedometer view and you actually say "whatever la". You could have shown what it is showing but you just said whatever. This is what i mean. Watch Doug demuro for how a detailed video is shot.

Get the hell out of here. This is just one guy while Blue Book is a company with a lot of money for better presentation among other things. Kon Wai Luen, do what you do and don't change for anyone. These guys just love when everything has a western feel and vibe.

Don't need to go for 3.2L except if you really, really need to transport heavy loads on regular basis. IMHO, that's the only point where the 3.2L shines. Else, the 2.2L version is as just as capable 4x4 as its 3.2L sibling. But nothing is cheap with Ford spare parts. But if you take good care of it, u probably don't need serious repairs / maintenance up to 5 years use, other than normal wear-and-tear. By then, of course, even armored military tanks need some serious fixing and maintenance *_*

Oh yes....Ford spare parts are no joke man. The 2.2 is capable, no doubt, but the 3.2 has a more relaxed feel when cruising.

Better buy a full spec toyota hilux for around Rm135000 which is a good investment its reliable,has great resale value, bigger engine 2.8 liter and also the best looking interior among all pick up trucks

Sorry but I owned both hilux 2.8 and wildtrak Wildtrak is way better than hilux in terms of features and technology but spare part hard to stock

Sorry to say..simple answer..hilux look very old la ...but ford looks handsome and have a big wow who ever seen it pass by...ford are best looking and useful for onroad and offroad....

Not entirely. The 2.2 and 3.2 are proven powertrains, and the 3.2 is very smooth.

Yes but the turbocharger is terrible for both of them. That's why Ford decided to use the 2.0 twin turbo engine to rectify it Less fuel consumption and better power delivery.
