Martin Great review, as I'm looking to purchase a 2018 Laramie. Given your review Rob, I am convinced I have made the right choice and will go ahead and purchase this truck. The 2018 makes financial sense for me currently as the new shape 1500 Rams are just to expensive to get all the options I would like, but the 2018 Ram comes loaded with everything I am looking for.

Even though the 2018 definitely kinda looks outdated, I think it’s still pretty cool and like it much better than the 2019!

Arne Maeschaelck the 2018 has more of a traditional RAM front end whereas in my opinion the 2019 has more of a futuristic look. I think there are a lot of people who prefer the old look!

I just bought a 2018 when I saw the 2019 3 days ago... I don't like the 2019 either...but the 12 inch display is nice...

The 12 inch display is definitely nice, but, like C Delorean said, it's freakin expensive! The only 2019 model available for pre-order in Europe is the Laramie at the moment, starting at 76K Euros! That's like 92K USD!... I think it's a great time to get yourself a 2018: you get so much truck for your money, I like its design and I wouldn't really trust the first year of a new generation tho...

I thought the same which is one of the reasons why I went with the 18. A friend of mine (who also owns a Ram) and I agreed that we don't really like the front end on the 2019 Ram. But, everyone has their likes!

I had one of these as a rental (SLT trim 4X4) and it was very nice! That 8 speed auto with the HEMI was a beast!!

Traded 2014 Ram 1500 for 2018. Friends think I'm nuts. Same truck, same color! Love it! Plus, last year of current generation will make it a classic....maybe....someday? 😎

I love this body style so much better then the redesign of the 19, more rugged looking. I was wondering why my 18 Laramie is a little different, I thought they'd all be the same at that trim level. I have push button start, navigation system, sunroof/moonroof, factory sidesteps, trailer brake in the dash and my center console is different, is that an added package or something? I bought it as a leftover from the dealer in 19 so didn't go over options, with all that being said, I love this vehicle, only problem I had was the U connect system with the radio/Navi went defective and had to be replaced right after the factory warranty expired, makes me happy I purchased the extended warranty from Mopar, otherwise it would've cost $1200.00 to replace, my dealer even waived the 100.00 deductible. I would recommend the extended warranty from FCA.

I Miss my 14 &16 ram 1500 .. Everytime i shopped for a truck it was hard not for me to put the ram #1 on my list. For me not towing and rarely driving the v6 penstar engine as well as being practical with the rambox n undercargo seat storage on floor and seat for kids was outshining all the other options. My heart was always set on a tundra but it was $$$.. i know ppl rag on relability but on both truck i had mopar lifetime unlimited warranty and that was worth everypenny. Now im looking into a new truck and as much as i would like a 19 tundra the ram keeps calling me back with all the practicality it has for my family ( rambox) etc .and android auto. This time i will deff be buying a v8 . My question is would you have waited for a ram 19 or get a great deal on the dated 18 possibly tugnsten edition or another trim? Or would u have gone with another truck.

Man this truck sounds like 4 different vehicles at once. When it idles, sounds like a diesel with that rumbly and bubbly mechanical idle sound, and then hearing the pipes resonate like when you tap a hollow metal tube. Almost like you can feel and hear the exhaust gases vibrating thru pipes. When you give it a dab on the throttle. It doesnt just rev up and go, it rumbles and goes. And everyone can feel that percussion when you pull away. And then when you're cruisin, it makes that sexy chuggy sound at 2-3000 RPM's at 55 MPH that just downright tickles my balls! And then you floor it. MMMMMMMM. Its that sound you all know and love when you hear a stereotypical V8 muscle car. It almost sounds like a soundtrack you would hear in any movie, video game or cartoon. *Classic* Beautiful.

Good review. Well done. This body style is iconic and awesome. I like sticking with a style for 10 years rather than "refreshing" a truck every year or two for the press The new body style is about the same transition from 2008 to 2009. Still looked like a ram just a little sleeker. The new truck is really good (test drove one and it is that much netter). The dial shifter was a deal breaker for me back in the day ( was going to buy a ford)but it is what your used to. They stayed with the same or comparable motor and tranny which is a plus. The 5.7 hemi is a beast.

What are some of the major differences between the 2009 and 2013-2018 models? anything noticeable or are they pretty much the same? (talking about the 5.7 hemi model)

I bought a used 2018 4x4 Big Horn with 15K on the ODO and saved 18K off sticker I’m pleased as punch and prefer the exterior looks over the 2019/2020 models

As far as a truck should I go for the 2500 6.4 or the 1500 5.7? I know that towing has a lot to do with the decision which I usually aren't towing but how about just riding around is the 6.4 just as nice I've heard it dosen't sound as good as the 5.7 and it's only about 20 horsepower less

The 6.4 makes more torque at a lower rpm,it has a different powerband.

5 years later about to buy a new used truck been fighting the silverado or this guy the ram i want has the dial shift i just cant hardly get past that probably gonna be the chevy 4 that reason

My dad passed away in June and I have his truck. He owned Dodge's the past couple decades, after having a Ford and Chevy. So I inherited his 2018 Ram 1500 hemi. I love it. But I always liked Dodge trucks,. I'm probably biased. I like the interior, Its spacious and nice. I like the exterior, the engine, how it drives.. Great vehicle 👍

These are coming to Australia. They will be "re-manufactured" to RHD. Express AU$ 79000 and Laramie $99000 drive away. Hemi at first the ecodiesel end of the year. Not sure how the V6 diesel will go. Really bad reputation. We do not have the lemon laws in Australia, so it is a big fight when things go bad.

Just bought a 2018 Laramie very similar with a few more options included. Absolutely love it, although I’m wondering if I should have waited for the 19 model because the redesign is so sick!! Thanks for the great vid!

dabig_ sho same situation right here, except I’m in Europe where the price differences are probably even higher. I really want the Laramie, and at first kind of felt like it’d be stupid to get it now that the 2019 is so close, but I really don’t like the look of the 2019 (I do like the features tho), but the main thing that got me drawn to the 2018 is the fact that I’ve always loved and wanted this design / model, the fact that it’s still a nice truck and has the same engine and transmission than the 2019 will have, it’s sold at pretty much the same price as most end-of-the-year model RAMS (36.500 euros for a full-option Laramie with the 5,7 l V8 and air suspension, excl. VAT (€44.000 VAT included)) - which is an awesome deal and the fact that the 2019 model will be around €56.000 excl VAT or 70.000 euros VAT included, which is too much for me and not even worth it in my opinion. You get a lot of truck for a decent price at the moment!

I priced out a 19, out of my price range, just got an 18 limited tungsten. After trade in, it was well within my price range.

Alex SJ that *is* very cheap! But that's probably because of the 2019 models (us Europeans still have to wait until this fall/winter to get them). Personally, I think you get a *lot* of truck for the price if you go for a 2018 right now. I'd even say the 2018 would be the better deal.

How does the throttle response feel compared to the R/T Challenger you tested?

LoudHemi 1500 it’s similar I guess but the Challenger is over 1,000 pounds lighter so naturally feels (and is) quicker than the RAM. It pulls hard in both though and sounds awesome.

@@deuceyd8468 Incredible. Going on 10 months of owning it and I haven’t had a single issue at all. Not used to the shitty gas mileage, but I expected that. They are great trucks. I found a good deal on one that only had 10k miles so it felt like new

@@deuceyd8468 I’m not sure how the market looks right now, and also not sure about which model you’re trying to buy. I payed $27k for one with 10k miles, but it doesn’t have too many bells and whistles. Just the standard tradesman edition. Over $30k seems a bit pricey, but there’s a lot of things to consider like your location, additional features, color, etc

I have to disagree that there are too many trim levels available from RAM because RAM gives the consumer a better bang tor the buck. I’m angry at GM and Ford for many reasons when it comes to trim and options. Why should I buy what I don’t want to get an option or two that I do want. Trucks are too dam expensive now if you want a luxury truck that’s fine but most of us want just enough truck to do the work intended. The big three make tons of money from a platform that they can crank out it cheaper for the to build a truck and over charge the crap out of you. I believe in capitalism and the free market which means I don’t have to give away all my money to get a pickup.

I had a 2015, air suspension died, cost 1000's, can't handle cold. Had to trade for a bighorn with no shit air suspension. So if your Canadian, don't get the air system, it will fail.
