@BeastinFitness6 жыл бұрын
Very encouraging spotters, sounded like a great atmosphere! Good shit Pete!
@Crazymax16 жыл бұрын
The Pete Rubish from the basement days came back for that last squat. If they slapped a washer and dryer in the back, we'd have a new world record, guaranteed.
@silverwarrior4616 жыл бұрын
Technically you beat Tee since he got a 2099.9 lb total haha. 2nd best in the world is absolutely incredible man, hopefully you can challenge Larry soon when your deadlift gets back to the mid 900's.
@scrumpoxjnr6 жыл бұрын
Larry has gone up to 275 now so he's not likely to come back and beat that. Don't think he's interested in cutting down any more. So if you can get to 2170+ should get that all time and keep it for a while. Great thing to aim for
@silverwarrior4616 жыл бұрын
Pete Rubish Didn't you beat him by 0.1 lbs?
@silverwarrior4616 жыл бұрын
Tom Bugler That was my exact thought as well. I know Larry is gonna compete at 275 again at the CETC US Open 2018, and he is working to become the lightest man to total 2300+. So a new 242 lb total world record really is just a matter of time. Problem is that Larry is so far ahead of anyone at that weight haha.
@scrumpoxjnr6 жыл бұрын
Silver Warrior Nah dude you can't beat somebody by 0.1lbs. Its all done in Kilos in increments of 2.5kg. If you're breaking a record you can take an increment of 0.5kg which is 1.1lb. That's the least you can win by. They totalled the exact same.
@alexisvnc6 жыл бұрын
Tom Bugler they totaled the same but Pete was lighter so he's at number 2. Openpowerlifting.org is doing a great job actually. look it up

Amazing job, man! I love the determination on the squat attempts. I think 880 will be there next meet easily, seems like the back fatigue from the squats probably came into play. Since Larry's now doing bodybuilding for the time being, you've got a few months at least to take the #1 spot ;)
@Bigramt6 жыл бұрын
My two favourite lifters currently are Tom Martin and yourself. Would love to see you guys compete against one another, or train together!. Two animals with monster conventional pulls! Fair play with that 3rd squat! Takes a lot of balls and heart to attempt that again!

@ghfjfghjasdfasdf6 жыл бұрын
Oh wow, that fail at 8:42 was scary looking!! I've never seen 4 guys have to spot that kind of weight before.... I'm surprised you attempted to walk that out, because it didn't look like you were ready. I've stood up with 675 before, so I know what that kind of weight feels like. Thanks for sharing all this footage!!!
@nastynate44816 жыл бұрын
Wow at first I was like there is no way these would have counted but evidently they were done within the time limits and I read that foot movement on squat after the rack command is allowed. something I didn't know. What an incredible will to finish the lift! It would probably help to do walkouts with your 1 rep max a few times before the meet. I like to do it once a week starting 4 weeks out and ending 2 weeks out personally and hold for 30 sec. It makes an incredible difference.
@DarkZeArts6 жыл бұрын

Out of curiosity...did you train your legs in any way? How did you manage to pull off such a squat with just one squat training session in 12 weeks? That makes your 771 squat even more impressive, given the fact that you did not grease the groove with the movement and technique barely at all!
@Cannibalizer936 жыл бұрын
once you have trained yourself to lift X weight, it does not really matter if you stop training a certain lift for a while because part of your strength comes from your CNS firing up together with your muscle cells . Granted you may not be able to set new PRs by doing that, but you can certainly lift heavy
