Seems to much hassle for the gain, also risk leaks even thinking about modifying these things. You should have a tyvek paper layer on the insulation then a small gap between that and the cladding. I'm going do a new video on this soon explaining all this and how I could have done it better. There will be a complete CAD model of the caravan including full plans quotes and all sorts of useful info that can be purchased in a pdf format for £10-15. Would this be of interest to you?

Hi Daniel, I plan to do a final video on the caravan at some point but its a bit tricky as I don't live it in now but instead beside it. I have some cool pics of a pizza oven and table I designed/built that I took outside it as marketing pics, shows the caravan of as well, there's a patio outside it now to which is really cool.

Don't know if I can actually upload a pic in the comments, I'll try on my laptop though if not you'll need to wait until the video is up 😁

@@MrYobo666 thank you for replying, that would be class, all being well am going to start mine in the next month or so when the weather here picks up a bit, did you see a saving on heat inside the mobile with the extra insulation? Am planing on framing with 4x2 and 100mm insulation but just wonder would it be a bit of an over kill if thinner insulation was grand?

Yeah go for it, make sure you leave a gap between insulation and cladding, I never did this n it would be better really, and use damp sheeting to.

Hi Simon, there is no gap between the outer wall and insulation no your right, but I'm hoping this won't be an issue as the insulation is foil lying so damp should run down the front / Back of that, also the aluminium body of the caravan is in tact mostly so damp should run down to the bottom of this as well. The inside is also going to be heated with a stove and now with insulation improvements the whole place should retain more heat thus keeping the inside dry (hopefully haha). The cladding boards are also staggered so there's a gap on the outside of the insulation which is where the cold side is. Thanks for your concerns.

Existing battons Jake, they're only 20mm wide and a nightmare to hit centrally every time. I developed a method by denting the tin outside around the batton underneath with my hand / fist then marking the batton centrally using a sharpy, then line your outer batton up with it. Best way, also don't bother with a level or marking line straight down as the internal batton are often all over the place.

Hi there, I used battons 38mm x 50mm, lay down on the 50mm side so sticking up 38mm. With rail top bottom n in middle where no windows the same completely around the windows, which also known as fire safe battons in the joinery trade.

Hi Julian, that's no problem happy to help. The batons are screwed to the body, there 38mm x 50mm, screwed on flat ways I.e. 38mm using 70mm screws. Up to about £6k+ in material cost, not including my time which is A LOT of hours haha, if you paying a joiner spose you'd be up near £12-14k, if you were to buy it complete anything up to £30k, well that's what I'd be asking for it😀.

No worries mate thanks for commenting, one thing to bare in mind is if actually going forward with something like this, would definitely be look at what you can get for your money, you could buy a far newer caravan with double glazing etc. Already in it For around £12-14k, what I've done is economical for me because no cost for time. Also around £14k upto 30k, you can get a serious pod from online or tiny house on a trailer etc. For that money....
