I just installed one of these on a RAV4. You don't need to remove the muffler. Just cover the chrome exhaust tips with a cloth to prevent scratching. @2:02 also never scratch the paint when removing the sticker. The paint is a barrier against rust. I guarantee those scratch marks will turn into rust over time.

So much more simple to install this hitch compared to the Toyota hitch which requires removal of the mud flaps, rear bumper, and rear light assembly and cutting the rear bumper to provide for the installed hitch. A much quicker install for the U-Haul hitch assembly.

I wanna see a video about the electrical/light kit. From time to time I rent a small trailer from uhaul to make a run to the dump, nothing heavy, maybe old furniture or things that just wouldn’t fit too well inside the vehicle.

I have a2021 Rav 4 the factory tongue weight is 150 lbs. This hitch is rated at 600 lbs of tongue weight. If I install this hitch what is my tongue weight

OEM have a higher clearance though install is a pain since you need to cut the bumper. What's the advantage of OEM? Thanks!

My towing capacity for Rav4 XLE is 1500 lbs without towing package (not sure how to tow 1500 lbs without a hitch)and 3500 if it came with towing package. Will a hitch installation increase it to 3500 lbs? I've read some conflicting info online but most suggest yes?

I think the towing capacity is more determined by the engine/transmission combo you have. If you have the hybrid with CVT it can't pull as much weight as the non-hybrid with the gear driven transmission. At least, that's as far as I understand it.

The 1500 is more than likely the load capacity inside your RAV4. Adding the hitch bumps it to 3500 combined of inside the vehicle load and what's on the hitch.

@@ethanreed3718the hybrid is rated to tow more than the non hybrid. The ecvt is very capable of towing and is actually better than a normal transmission for this. Regenerative braking is helpful. The hybrid produces much more torque and HP than the non hybrid rav. Please be informed before posting misinformation

It is due to the transmission fluid cooler on the models that can tow 3500 lbs. Also has a bigger radiator.

@@royheckel6436 the part numbers are the exact same, there is no bigger radiator. And where are you seeing a trans cooler? What model years are you comparing? I’m going off dealer parts computer

Not the same. The one in the trd rest higher. Also tow capacities are different from the regular trims. The adventure model and the TRD are rated for 3500 lbs while the le and xle are 1500 lbs i don't know if it's different in the hybrid models

The Rav4 towing capacity goes down to only 1000 lbs if the trailer is not equipped with brakes. Nobody seams to know that. (according to the owner's manual in Usa and Canada for the hybrid as well as the gasoline models).

I think that only affects 2017-2020 you do have to cut the bumper on some dealer hitches

Depends on how high you want your hitch. Some people pulling something heavy may need a higher placement, thus cutting. Toyota's OEM hitch involves cutting.

Get the curt hitch much easier to install and cheaper . $ 170 on amaxon vs 280 for oem plus labor intensive
