Acura had a big advantage over the competition in 2018 with the V6. Moving to a 4 cylinder turbo put them into the same category as everyone else. Try finding a V6 in a smaller SUV and with very few exceptions (like the expensive BMW M40i) there aren't any. You have to move up to mid size SUVs if you want a V6, and even then they are getting harder to find. Fuel economy is important, but it's not the only thing, especially in a luxury vehicle.

If you’re thinking reliably Acura RDX had a 2.4 turbo and they where known to last the whole vehicles life. I’m sure the 2.0 won’t be any different, Honda has perfected turbos, I don’t think it would be a worry. I own a 2020 RDX 40k not one issue.

The change on 2019 was the reason I traded my 2014 CRV for a 2018 RDX. I love the V-6, 6 speed trans, conventional knobs on entertainment system. I even preferred my shinning chrome wheels than the ugly black wheels. The only thing I wished was a SH-AWD on my 2018.

Beautiful vehicle except for two major issues: 1. That absolutely god-awful iPad that sticks out of the dash like a very sore thumb. It completely destroys the smooth flowing contour of the interior. 2. Although the engine looks nice the preference has to be the 6 cylinder. When I initially hear “A-spec” I think of an exotic-type of vehicle with a suped-up motor (like a turbocharged 6 cylinder). How nice would that have been!! I bought the 2018 RDX Elite with SH-AWD and am glad I did! These specific changes on the 2019 was a step in the wrong direction.

The rdx looks well but that display below the infotainment looks like they took a step back to the 2013 and below year models. Too many buttons. That floating screen at the top is one reason I didnt go for BMW and Volvo its in hazardous spot and doesn't defend like Audi. Mind you touch pad and that whole iPad movement is old and no one useses ipads anymore. That wave has passed so I'm just wondering why acura is behind and put this floating information on their vehicles. If this is on the new mdx I will not be renewing my lease. The body is nice steering wheel ok but the others I mention not good. But just my oppinion do you have to have att to benefit from the hot spots?

Depends on how you look at it. If you were a smart buyer, you had the potential to save thousands off the list price, the new one will go for close or at list. I have been driving my 2016 Acura RDX for almost 4 years. Yesterday, I drove this 2019 RDX model for the first time. I am dissapointed. The only 3 things I like are the new transmission, wheels (A-spec) and Dashboard. Engine has turbo lag. Finishing details on the second row and cargo area are not as equal as the older model. Second row feels narrower and seats are not as comfortable as the older model. Cargo area is longer but not as wide as the old one. Stop lights are not as good as the old design. Front design is good but has a lot chrome, except for the A-Spec Model. In summary, there is not too much to pay a higher price for this model . Engine, still needs premium gas. Think twice before replacing your current SUV. Get the old RDX model.

Martin Ricardo you are criticizing about the things that you found totally opposite. The cargo is wider and the second row is actually bigger
@manejandoenusa6 жыл бұрын
when you say bigger you need to have into account two things, leg room and cubic feet. Second row on the new one has more leg room but seats are less comfortable. more flat and when you seat you feel on a lower line that in the older model. I know you work on an acura dealer. I wil invite you to get a cargo cover from the old model and see if it fits on the new one. There are not even holes in the new one.

Your nitpicks honestly won't stop a potential buyer. There is absolutely no way someone is buying the older model unless it was like thousands off. Even then, it would be offset by the resale value lost in the last model of a generation. You think that now, but a new car buyer would much rather have the new tech vs the old RDX which is at least 5 years old.

Of course it does. The Forester weighs less and has less power. (182HP vs 272HP, or 90HP/49.5%) Not a thing wrong with the Forester, but they aren't even direct competitors. The Honda CRV would more closely compete with the Forester.

Hideous. The transmission selector is a deal breaker. Is it a gaping mouth of a large fish or a woman in stirrups? It's a modern day Edsel. The 2018 is a much better looking car. Acura has blown it yet again.
@MarinAcura15 жыл бұрын
In fact, that gear selector is perhaps one of its best features. Its uncluttered appearance opens up the interior space, makes it easy to toss things to the passenger seat without something in the way, and if you accidentally turn the car off while in gear or if you try to leave the car, the car will automatically put itself into park- a traditional gear selector is just not going to offer all of those convinces and safety. Plus, each button has a unique feel so without ever having to look at the center console you can select the transmission mode you want to be in. Thats clever.
