The technical aspect you're missing is with the auto, once you downshift under WOT, the lock-up in the torque converter disengages, which results in a loss of about 300-500 rpm of power through transmission flare. With the stick, and the fact that the car is new, there's no slip in the clutch, that's why it pulled away. The extra weight in the passenger seat didn't help either.

My father builds the 10 speeds and has been to both the ford plant and General Motors plants, the transmissions are very very similar. I think the 1le has a different differential ratio as well for track. Could be a huge difference

I can drive the hell out of a stick and always will beat the auto on a like for like race. I'm really disappointed in Ford for not making a manual 2020 GT500.

Even with the intake the Manual shouldn't be beating the auto. The auto either isn't downshifting his car or is starting in the wrong gear. After watching the video the driver is using paddles which is slower than letting it shift automatically.

If the auto driver was trying to use the paddle shifter, it won't be as fast as just letting the auto do all the thinking. That being said, the no lift shift feature is a big help on the m6. I own a 19 ss with the manual, so this video pleases me. That being said, when I bought my car I just wanted something that would throw me back in the seat hard and carve up windy roads. If I was after a number at a drag strip, autos are proven to be faster on the 6th gens unless you are the absolute best of the best driver in an m6. I'm after fun more so than a number, so the manual was an easy choice. If shifting yourself wasn't fun, nobody would bother putting paddle shifters on an automatic car.

Also another thing to remember, is the 2SS is heavier that a 1SS just in the fact that vanity options way the car down. I.E. sun roof full leather all the extra electronics. It all adds up. My 18 1SS I ordered completely base from my dealer except for recaro seats and zl1 short throw shifter. My friends car is same year but 2SS and 8 speed auto, his car on scales is almost 800 lbs heavier than mine. I get him every time we race. Another reason for the manual over auto is the gear ratios between the trans and rear gear.

It’s not too many gears. The 10 speed doesn’t row through the gears one by one- it skips gears as needed. I don’t know whats up with your cars or the drivers in this video, but professional drivers have proved over and over that a 10 speed Camaro is faster than a manual Camaro. Plus you as a passenger added another 200 pounds easy. I didn’t see a passenger in the other car. Anyway, I’m not putting you down or anything, just sharing my initial reaction after I watched the video.

Btw both cars are very nice and the one thing I will give a manual over a auto is that the manual is waaaaaay more fun to drive and they also are alot more reliable when you start throwing alot of power in them I have a Lexus RCF that's procharged and a c7 Corvette that has a hellion turbo kit both are Auto trans and I had trans issues with both cars while building them to the 800hp range but my lil brother has a 2018 Camaro SS with a hellion turbo kit and his is a 6 speed manual and he didn't have any trans problems other than the standard trans upgrade that is required when building for 800hp bcuz the stock trans regardless if it's auto or manual on the three cars can only handle between 500hp to 600hp to the wheels B4 u have to start building but like I said he had no issues with the manual trans and I had Issues but now everything is good

Theres alot more differences between a SS and a 1LE, first were both 2SS cars? If not there is a weight difference. Another difference is the 1LE has an electronic LSD with 3.73 gears which helps in acceleration. The suspension tuning on a 1LE is also alot different. Plus not having a passenger helps as well.

2SS option has nothing to do with the CAI lol. They don’t come standard with it and it’s just as available for the 1SS

The manual is faster than the 10spd auto as long as you can hit all the gears correctly while using the "No Lift Shift".

I see all these auto fairies crying and making excuses. I'm not sure where the stigma of "manuals are slow" came from but I have a 6 speed and its plenty fast. The manual is the DRIVERS car. Guy in the 6speed bought his car and learned how to drive it instead of buying the auto and letting the computer do all the work. Win, lose, or draw, I'll always applaud the guy who rows his own gears.

Take the CAI off and redo the race. I lost 4 tenths at the track after installing a CAI on my 17 1LE, the car needs a tune to work with a CAI. The GM tune with the GM CAI is just a MAF calibration for the change in intake pipe size.
